- In this video, we check out the 4 season features at the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 roof top tent. We test out the insulated liner and the a cheap Amazon diesel heater to provide heat and in subzero temperatures.

I’m so sorry to hear about Esme! It broke my heart watching you talk about her while you were driving. And then the image of the dogs while you were eating almost made me cry. I will keep her in my prayers to heal quickly. I am a cat person myself even though I do love dogs as well. I had a cat for 18 1/2 years and had to put her down last year. I still cry because I miss her. It’s amazing what that unconditional love from an animal does for you. The pop-up tent looks super cozy and warm. Too hard for me with my bad knee going up and down plus I’m super short so rooftop tents are out for me. Cheers my friend looking forward to the next video.
I know we love them so much and each one is so special ❤️ I can't imagine a life without them. The ladder is a little crazy on the Jeep 😆 Its only a matter of time before I slid of a rung - lol

We are all hoping Esme improves enough to continue with your adventures. Our little shitzu is 14 and we thought the end had come in November. Some medication to treat her and she’s back to 90% of where she was. All the best to you and your family in 2023.

So sorry to hear about Esme, she is a lovely girl and reminds me of my husband William's Jack russell,Euro who he had to put to sleep three years ago this week,she was 18 years old born in 2002 and William had her since 2003,he hasn't had a dog since but talks now and then of getting another jack russell pup.

I feel for you brother, our little girl is almost 16 1/2, deaf, arthritic and losing her sight. A part of me knows what needs to be done I just cant bring myself to do it. I hope Esme gets well soon, the medication helps and she has plenty more camping trips in her. All the best.

Hi Michael !! Oh boy..,.that feeling we get when we realize what is happening to our beloved fury friends. Deciding when to let them go is a day that stays cimented in our memories. It hurts so much every time they pass away that I always swear to myself never to get another one......until I get another one and that damn cycle starts all over again. With good medication I'm sure she has many more years to give you the love she always has. Take care and give a warm hug to Esme.
You are so right!!!! But despite all the pain at the end, the years before are so special its worth the price 🥲
i honestly think its a good idea to get another younger dog soon because i've seen many people that didnt and then the unfortunate eventually happens and they cant face getting another dog as the memories are too raw of their previous dog :)
Me too and it's sad to witness and you know they would love another dog. I'm looking for the right pup to rescue at the moment 👍

Get well soon Esme. Your presence was missed for this outing. That bone will be just what the doctor orders. You're a great dog dad Michael, and I agree with your thoughts completely. Allow Esme to teach a pup how to best fit in and teach the pup all the best dog sarcasm needed. A new pup is never a "replacement". The spots in your heart for Esme and Simon remain theirs. The pup finds their own spot and burrows in. That was a great addition to holograph in Esme on her bed next to you by the fire. It shared (quite well) that you were thinking of her expectantly watching that steak and bone. Nice touch Kemosabe.

Poor Esme arthritis is no fun both my dogs and myself suffer from the best remedy is to keep moving otherwise the joints get stiff gentle exercise thankyou for your post

Kind of crazy that no one has built these insulated from the get-go and then had a built-in fan or cooling system for hot weather... With the price tag being insane already, seems like this should be figured out by now... Great video, thanks!
I'm kinda torn about the extra insulation being standard, as the lighter fabric is much better for breathability during the summer. However, I think the insulated inner could be made simpler for installing than the current setup. 🤔 And don't get me started on the door zippers 😄

Poor esme let’s hope she can get some relief with her medication big hugs too esme 🤗 and just on not having her there do you feel less safe with out her being there, meaning her ability to pick up on dangerous animals if you know what I mean 🤔 .

Getting old doesnt suck my friend the furry friends we have grow old too fast is what sucks. Ive watched your channel since you traded the rzr for the pioneer and I still say you should have kept the honda. Your big heart is what makes this channel great. Love the tent but my big problem is the dark color as i think it will not be the best in the desert
The tent has two layers, the nylon waterproof outer and the cotton inner, so there is an air gab between the two. The fibreglass roof is insulated so should not radiate heat too much. Combine that with the side windows and the awnings, you can get a good cross breeze through the tent. I'd say this is one of the best designed tents for desert camping. They also sell an insulated liner designed for winter, but with the windows opened with the liner on a super hot day, that might be very effective but I have not tried that personally. 👍
I have the iKamper with Annex, do you think that diesel heater will be able to heat up both?
Depending on the temperature but I'd say down to -15c I think you can heat both, as long as you can stop the head escaping from the annex. I thought about doing the same!!
Why did God not make dogs have the same lifespan as Parrots or Giant Tortoises? Great video, Esme (and Simon) are always missed. Have you had her checked for Lyme disease? Just in case your vet is settling on something obvious and not being thorough?
Hi David - That is a very good point!! Long life dogs might be the genetic future 🤔 Esme and Simon have annual checks at the vets and they are given medication for ticks each year. Esme got a tick many years ago and I removed it and I sent it to the vets to be checked. All clear. Plus I don't think we get it in Alberta thankfully 👍
Are you not able to leave the tent insulation clipped in when the tent is closed?
You can as long as you unclip the front section. 👍

I have a 21’ JL Unlimited Rubicon with a factory hard top and just bought an IKamper Skycamp 3.0. What mounting system are you using for it onto your Jeep? Thank you!
Thanks J.R. she has improved lately so I'm very happy. I went with the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform. It's on the expensive side BUT the Skycamp 3.0 perfectly matches up to the rack and it's super solid. If you buy the pioneer platform - buy it assembled, not the kit. It will save you soooo much time and hassle 👍

@@j.r.777 That's great you got everything installed!! I don't think I've ever been to Colorado, so you might be confusing me with someone else. I use two apps for finding places to go. Gaia for mapping and All Trails for finding published routes. Also check for a local Jeep group on FaceBook and ask for good trails in your area 👍 Hope that helps!

You power that diesel heater off the car battery or does it need an AC inverter to feed it 120VAC?

@@TheEmporiumOutdoors gotcha, are they particularly power hungry? The fan seems like the only part that would, “cost” to run.
It’d be super cool if it had a Peltier and generated its own electricity off the temp differential once it got running! That would make it a lot more expensive tho. There was a company that made a little camp stove that could charge your phone and such.
