Very cool! For my money, Grandstand's Mini-Munchman was a great Pacman style LCD handheld and it also had a digital clock! In your eye Nintendo ;-) Keep up the awesome work!
I had that same exact game when I was a kid!! I liked how it relied on the level layouts to give a sense of variety - in addition to the moving and invisible walls the last levels posed quite a challenge when 'real' wall traversing ghosts were shown up!! When I finally learnt how the overall gameplay worked, I managed to overflow the scoring quite a few times (the last 00's blinked when the score was overflown) And I would also say that the start button worked like in many Pac-Man bootlegs, here you bashed it to make Pac-Man move faster...
I actually had this lcd game when I was a kid, I remember playing it in the car on the way to Disneyland when I first got it. Man, I haven't seen that thing in so many years. I also remember that I was absolutely terrible at playing it lol.
@@GenXGrownUp yeah, they have a certain amount of retro vibe, that weird attraction that you can't resist to if you're addicted to vintage things already.
I had one of the Coleco mini games from 1981 or whenever they came out as a 9 year old. I really liked it. It was great to play when I didn't have quarters for the machine.
I remember there was thousands of lcd gaming handhelds that came. Many of which i personally owned and played growing up. So many fond memories playing so many of them growing. Awesome video John thanks again buddy! 👍💯
You found quite the treasure. This reminds me of the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch Nintendo put out in 1986. The platforms in that game were cross-screen and disorienting - I agree with you about the hunt in the wild; it's fun. I wish I had gone to Retrocon for the 2 days; I was overwhelmed and shocked at how time escaped me going through the hall. Next year.
I like to think of them as “Pac Man spin-offs.” Or maybe in this case, “A Pac Man Joint by Micro Games USA.” :p Looks like a fun little LCD honestly, the scrolling factor and differing gameplay are interesting.
Very entertaining for back in the day or now. That's how those Basic fun ones should have been. I liked the Super Mario one it was so good i had it stolen off me.
Great Hat and cool find! That game would have gotten the best of me though … back in the day and now even. But that is on me and not the game 😂 I’m better at something like the old Coleco table tops than this type. But I’d definitely would have had to pick it up if I saw it and add it to my FanCave because it is very awesome my abilities not withstanding Thanks Jon 👊🏻😎🕹️
It's definitely an oddity but I love old LCD games. I've never found another MGA game in my life though. And as many as they made, I find that strange. MGA makes Rainbow High dolls now....
MGA's LCD games were kind of like Tiger Electronics games, but not as good. Strangely MGA would take a license, make a basic LCD game out of it and cram it into as many different shells as possible. I found this out while persuing different ports of Centipede, only to discover that they released what was essentially the same LCD game in different shells from 1997 all the way to 2012. I don't even understand why they kept doing it, they just did. I've identified at least 9 variations at this point. I imagine they did something similar for Pac-Man.
I heard you mention that you found blip...I used to crush my sister when we played that thing back in the day. Still have it! Any word on what's happening with the Gamestation Go?
Don't forget the "powerful 4-bit processor!" Compared to what, exactly? Toasters? Tiger Electronics handhelds? Actually, I think even those are better than this. I had Tomytronics Pac-Man, myself. Pac-Man ribbets as he moves, he can't eat dots behind him, and the maze is wider than it is tall. The things we put up with in the early 1980s...
These old LCD games are cool
Yea they are SICK!!!!

I don't know why, but I'm a sucker when it comes to LCD games! Especially ones like this, oh my! 🤓
They have their own special charms, don't they? 😁
Something I wanted as a kid and never got was the star wars trilogy on LCD.
@@GenXGrownUp yeah, they have a certain amount of retro vibe, that weird attraction that you can't resist to if you're addicted to vintage things already.
@@oaf-77 good luck finding one man.
I have a collection of handhelds from ‘76 to ‘84.
Wish I would have had them all as a kid :)
I Love LCD games. They certainly found a way to make it interesting/challenging!
I have a round pacman. It looks like a ufo. My mom may her rip gave it to me for my 14th birthday. And it still works.
Sounds like the Tomy Pac-Man. On my wishlist!
@@GenXGrownUp yes it is. I still play it. Love it.
Hey Jon, I shared your video to my video game design class. They said your video was good! Keep up the good work!
@@BuzzGarwood I trust you made subscribing a class requirement? 😉
@@GenXGrownUp of course...

I have the 1995 blue variant of this very machine. Still works too! I think I came across it on a yard sale for a couple bucks.
Good find.
I grew up playing LCD games! Thanks for the trip down memory lane again! Especially since I smoked a bowl 🍚!
Any time!
i love this guys channel love 70s 80s and 90s tech amazing vid man keep up the good work
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! 😀

I can't believe that thing still works!
That invisible level is nuts. lol
The changing maze would drive me nuts 🤣
I’m suprised this is some kind of extended maze like JR Pac-Man

That was my first visit to Retrocon, but hope to be back again next year if I'm able.
At least it was better than a Tiger Electronics Handheld.
lol the packaging was always soooo convincing too.
Hey! I had that game in my hands first. Then some crazy guy snatched it out of my hands and yelled...GENX RULES!
I plead the fifth. 😉
I was there, man! I played it! 😁
💜
The Thrill of The Hunt! I would love to find old-school PAC-MAN & Q*Bert game watches.
Oh, me too!
Battery Compartment is in great condition for something that old.🤘🏻👍🏻🇺🇲
So cool! A great get! 😊
Cool
Bro that’s so cool I want it
Now that I’m seeing this, I would like for you to review the Coleco tabletop Pac-Man cabinet if you get your hands on one.
I like to think of them as “Pac Man spin-offs.” Or maybe in this case, “A Pac Man Joint by Micro Games USA.” :p Looks like a fun little LCD honestly, the scrolling factor and differing gameplay are interesting.
I like that. 😁
Thanks.
You're welcome
Perhaps it remembers what levels you have cleared, and allows you to select from them.
Oooooh, maybe so! I'll check that out now that I've played a bit.
Very entertaining for back in the day or now. That's how those Basic fun ones should have been. I liked the Super Mario one it was so good i had it stolen off me.
I love it ❤
Closest I ever had to this was a playable Pac-Man watch. IDK if I could deal with the way the screen scrolls on this one.
Very cool .

I got the Ms Pac Man at the flea!
I'm jealous. What is the model number on that one?

What you describe is also what I see in the wiki linked in the description.
That is an interesting take on Pac-Man, though it feels more like KC Munchkin than Pac.
It's very different. I have never seen that version of Pacman.
It reminds me a bit of the Dos game PC man
Everyones Grandpa had the 8 Button Hold 'Em Poker!!
I'm nobody's grandpa, but I had one, too! 👴
I have an orange Pac-Man one that's similar and also MGA. It's Pac-Man, but not the Pac-Man you're used to
I'll be on the lookout!
I bought that Pac-Man LSI game in 1992. It was even atrocious back then.
The gameplay sound is a bit grating. Not sure if it's like that in person or just how the video is picking it up.
It's pretty grating, but not unusual for a device of its type.
I have that Pac-Man hat.
Gnarly!!!
I heard you mention that you found blip...I used to crush my sister when we played that thing back in the day. Still have it! Any word on what's happening with the Gamestation Go?
I did get a blip! 😀 I don't have any concrete dates I can share, but GSGo news is on the way.
Look, I forgot my waxing kit, okay? If you have a better idea for smooth forearms I'd like to hear it!😅

That UFO-shaped Tomy Pac-Man is on my wish list. I'll find an affordable one some day.
Pac-Man but the maze exists in Non-Euclidean space
Ha!
This Mr Garwood student
Welcome. Please tell Mr. Garwood for me that you've earned that extra credit! 😜
Almost like Mousetrap
LOL travel PC man it's a lot like the Dos game actually. 😊
69th like. Hehe
