Besides all the comments on extra sashing and combs etc...how awesome is it that a young man is engaged in the wholesome activity of quilting and teaching others too? Now that warms my heart!
Oh yeah!! I believe Tecum ( I hope I spelled his name correctly )and his brothers as well l, make these fabulous videos with free patterns and beautiful fabric. Very awesome 😊
I made this quilt for my very dear friend to keep her warm while she endured her fith round of chemo. She loved it so much she named each if the blocks after her own pet chickens. It has been almost 10 months since she passed. Thank you for making this wonderful tutorial. I was able to make this quilt just by watching.
This is cute, I could see applique eggs in between the large background spaces in rows following a chicken. I would have the chickens going different directions. One row one way, next row the other. Cause thats what chickens do!! I love it!! Thanks
Thank you for the kind words Susie, we are so fortunate to be able to do something that we love. Hope you can make it into the shop sometime. Take care, Brody
I just started making my house all farm and country stuff. This quilt and pillows will fit in perfectly and add some fun to my decorative touch. Thank you so much. 💓
Very cute, thanks for your video! Before adding the outer border, I myself would add a 3" border of the background fabric only on the top and right sides, just to even out the spacing of the print chicken fabrics vs. the background vs. the border fabric. It would make it look visually more symmetrical and balanced. Try it! ~Diana from Toronto
Very very cute fat chicken. Really threw me when you marked your tail square on the right side. Thought I was about to learn something new and magnificent!
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I’ve had my eyes on this quilt for ages, but was afraid it might be to difficult for a new quilter like me. Now I know I can do it!
You can do it!! Take it slow and you'll do great. We would love to see a picture when you decide to make it! Thanks for watching. Don't forget to subscribe for weekly videos. Take care, Brody
Its a stunner. Hope you decide to make it! Don't forget we offer Mail in quilting services if you are looking for a great longarm quilter! Take care-- Brody
Love this quilt. I have a chicken loving friend that will be thrilled to get the quilt I'm going to make her with this pattern. Thank you so much. I really enjoy viewing your tutorials.
I just finished this quilt, or rather the quilt top. It is easy to make, fairly quick and so cute. I used layer cake extras and bits and pieces of red and yellow from my existing stash. (come on we all have a stash) and I also did the math and made little chickens using charm squares. Four of them with sashing make an adorable pillow to accompany the quilt.
I love this easy quilt pattern, it is so cute, my daughter and granddaughter have chickens and we are going to make this quilt together thank you so much!
LOVE THE CHICKEN!!! I'm making some pot holders out of some!!! for me and my sister--she's crazy about chickens too. THANKS so much for the great tutorial.
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Just made this and it's exactly the right mix of cute and hilarious. In normal times l sew quilts for children going into hospital; this will go down a storm so thank you guys. Love from the UK.
Such a fun pattern! I think some of my many fat quarters may have chicken bodies in their future! And I love the name Teancum! He is one of the great heroes in my very favorite book! ;-)

Thank you for the thorough and detailed tutorial. My husband asked me to make a chicken quilt, and this video is super helpful. I am curious as to why the comb and beak needed two layers of material instead of one?
I LOVE this one. Wanted to make a Christmas gift for my daughters in-laws - bought them a panel - this tutorial is a game changer and I’ll be making this instead 😊 🐔
Yes, we just go over it with the quilting long arm. We try to choose a larger quilting design so it doesn't sew down all the beaks, etc. That makes it fun, but if some are sewn down its not a big deal. It still looks great! Thanks for watching!
I am making this for my DIL. I’m going to make the hens face the other way on alternating rows. It would be helpful to list the yardage required for the background fabric on the pattern.
Love this quilt and downloaded the pattern but do not see the total yardage requirements and my math skills leave a lot to be desired . . . so how much yardage is needed for the sashing and border, and how wide is the border in the picture. Thank you!
As you can see we are behind with our replies. I hope you have your answer by now. I am trying to catch up and stay caught up. Thanks for your understanding and thanks for watching.
O my gosh ty u made this so easy to follow!!! My aunt and uncle are famers and she has chicken everything and I've been looking to make one and now I can ty!!!!💞🌞🐓

Thank you for the thorough and detailed tutorial. My husband asked me to make a chicken quilt, and this video is super helpful. I am curious as to why the comb and beak needed two layers of material instead of one?
You can do 1 if you prefer. There are no quilt police 😂😂😂🫶
@@SewYeah Thank goodness! I am fairly new to quilting. I was just curious if there was a reason I wasn’t aware of.
I LOVE this one. Wanted to make a Christmas gift for my daughters in-laws - bought them a panel - this tutorial is a game changer and I’ll be making this instead 😊 🐔

I love the chickens. Do you tac down the crowns so they don't flop over??
Nope! They're meant to flop around, but if you wanted them to stand up straight by all means you can tack it down!
Love this quilt.
Thanks!
I have 18 pet chickens whom I love and this inspires me to learn how to quilt so I can make something funky and cute, just like my hens.

Brody, your 🐔 chickens are precious. WOW looks so easy. Thanks, Love her...
Cute quilt! But at the beginning you said to mark diagonal lines on the right side of the print. Then you put it on right sides together. ???
Slip of the tongue! You get what I mean ;). Stay tuned for more!
do you quilt the red and beak when quilting it ?
Yes, we just go over it with the quilting long arm. We try to choose a larger quilting design so it doesn't sew down all the beaks, etc. That makes it fun, but if some are sewn down its not a big deal. It still looks great! Thanks for watching!
