Detroit was a 2nd home to him for his tours. At the beginning of his career Detroit showed mad Love for Prince & he always loved & appreciated the loyalty & love. He said he liked starting his tours there if possible because of that. He did many radio interviews with The Electrifying MOJO who often showcased his music at midnight. (Really great one June 7, 1986 Prince's 28th Bday concert footage of him wearing a yellow suit/interview after). He was the GOAT!💜
I saw him in Detroit in the late 80s for the Purple Rain tour. It was awesome. My ex took me, kind of as a chaperone, since he didn't know Prince's music. That was kind of strange ;-)
I went to both Chicago and Detroit's Musicology show and although both amazing Detroit was 🤯 in comparison and I think the audience definitely had a lot to do with that! Saw him in Detroit a few times, just never the same show as somewhere else to see him catering differently to a different audience.

Diamond, I saw Prince in Detroit too. Different concert, best concert ever. The whole audience was standing, dancing, singing! He knew how to make everyone feel included, special with the power of his talent and just him! You didn’t know if you were in church or at the club or both! The audience was singing to Darling Niki and he stopped the song and said it was now Sunday and what would our momma think!?! Singing this song hours before church on a Sunday! He will be forever missed. No one like him, never will. Great talent out there, he was a one of a kind💜
