In the above video it was one of the times it started with “Scottie…” but he didn’t really need me to turn it up, it was plenty loud, he was trying to inspire the people in the balcony. At the top when he says, “…turn the guitar up! Didn’t I tell you never to touch a grown man’s stereo!” he was actually mad at the Monitor Engineer. 🤣 The Monitor Engineers almost never followed the feel of the music.
Probably the greatest bandleader of all time. They are not just talented and well-rehearsed, but Prince is in total control and knows just how to direct them.
That's what I tell people, knew how to play every instrument as good as the band but couldn't at the same time so he learned to lead. We were fortunate to have him for a while then God wanted him. Love this because he looked for real happy even though he was in such pain.

His ability of being in command is off the charts. He's the only guitar who, in addition to fill in that clear funky constant riff, controls a perfect homogeneous musical fabric that can be stopped and instrument selected at his command. You know, what he does with a real band is what Dj's of today do with a machine but not even at the tiniest fraction of perfection and awesomeness that Prince has here. You know he could continue with the music beat forever, only it's live and there's not one band that get used to this. Every band has scripted music, with a structure. Even in jazz the guys don't stop at command. And this has that jazzy school to that. It's funk, but the riff goes on, and every other musician gets his going. This is so precious to hear and watch. He's simple one of the greatest of all time.

Awesome share. My buddy was kicked out of one of his last shows (in L.A.) for breaking out his mobile phone (but filming was forbidden at that secret show). The man the myth in his element. So lucky I was into him early on and got to see him several times - including a few after show shows. This is pure Prince right here. Big ups to Maceo!

One of my favourite periods of Prince’s output. Such an original album and thematically consistent, something which become far and few between after this. It’s arguably the last true ‘concept’ album of Prince. He seemed to give up a concept and move onto the next idea post rainbow children. 3rd Eye Girl’s album a shining example. This is far from a knock on Prince, more a shining example at how prolific this era was. The after shows, pre show admissions etc. I just wish I was a prince fan back in 2001. Nevertheless I thank my lucky stars are went to nine of the 21 nights and one of the 2010 tours. Blessed for the memories x
This was the first concert i went to when moved to vegas..3rd time i was privileged to see him in person. After this concert, he called an after party at Studio 54, showed up an hour later with members from The Revolution & we rocked the house till 8Am the next day..Best time i ever had!

He owned everything he did. I'm a 28, music has literally always been my life, but I've never had a favorite artist until now. Digging deep into his music and learning about how much he worked gives me so much courage. I feel like he made so many people happy and his art lives on to do that. He owned everything he did. I'm a 28, music has literally always been my life, but I've never had a favorite artist until now. Digging deep into his music and learning about how much he worked gives me so much courage. I feel like he made so many people happy and his art lives on to do that. It's pure love, man, I feel challenged to be at my best.
