I set calendar events and alarms on my phone labeled STOP BUYING SH*T and STOP EATING OUT! that go off throughout the day. It has helped a lot with curbing bad spending habits.

The timing of this vid is perfect. I actually just reached first $10k saved just a few weeks ago. Took awhile, but I made it happen. I implemented many of the tips in this video. Didn't go as drastic as "rice and beans", but I started making the majority of my meals at home and started shopping at a cheaper grocery store.
I also don't have a car payment, rent is around 22% of my monthly income (living with roommates). Makes a huge difference!
Absolutely, once come to realize as an investor that it makes no sense letting my money sit in my bank account idle, when I can actually make it productive investing into assets to build a portfolio from the accumulated profits of investment

Buying cheap can be very expensive. I have gone down that route doing the MMM thing. The sweat spot is above that.
I highly recommend:
Buy on need and quality. Don't upgrade till it breaks. That is more reasonable IMO.

I got into stacking silver around 2016. Within a couple months I slowed down on everything in life that I was wasting money on. When COVID hit It really helped wake me up the rest of the way. I now do not eat out. Or a drive thru. No coffee shops at all. My coffee costs me $12 a month tops. Every cup tastes like silver haha. Quit golfing. Don't miss it at all. Dang that was expensive. My hobbies now are metal detecting. Yes got a good one but it's now paid for itself. Other hobby. Gold panning. The more I've realized I could save I actually picked up a seasonal side job. Catering rocks. Work when you want. Eat great and get paid. They do a lot of out of town work so I get vacations and hotels and get to party it up on those trips. Also it's all free and I get paid.
you should of brought yourself some shoes bro, but the mindsets elite. I credit you for a lot of my financial education journey.

When I was a teenager, I always wanted a fancy sport car, so bad. But now all that matters to me is just a reliable car that can get me from and to where I want to go. That's all I care about. I don't even care what other people think or throw at me.
Sometime i have to eat out i be pulling 16 hour shifts i order something ahead pick it up after my shift is over eat it sleep get up early got back to work rice and beans wont give you the nutrition your body needs i tried that and got sick eating that daily

I have 30K saved up.... But this is going towards adopting a child and putting a down payment on a condo with my wife within the next 4 years. I'd love to be able to save up another 30K in those 4 years....
Dads a mechanic thats why we survived with the beat up car mentality. We have lots of family friends with beat up car that are every week in our garage asking my dad to fix it. They dont even know car needs change oil or break change. Buy a beat up car, and when breaks there goes your under 10k beat up car. Get an EV if you gas expense is 200-300 a month just buy an EV and charge it on your home.
A problem a lot of people have is with comfort. I'll use my fat ass as an example. I got fat. Therefore, I need new clothes to fit my fat body.
However, buying new clothes is actually me just maintaining a level of comfort that I shouldn't have because it's less healthy. Therefore, I want to have new clothes because I don't want to work out and stop drinking beer. I need to lose weight and work on my health. I need discipline. I don't need to spend money to compensate for poor behavior in the first place.
