    It’s so funny that I read all those books back-in 1492 it seems . 101 being my favorite and my first , trying to kinda bond with my father in law at the OTB club in Santa Rosa where in august they would run at the fair on the turf . Honestly, it was not too much later ( couple years) before my father in law would tell my wife “ the pupil has surpassed the teacher “ our racing relationship was so dear we formed a real close father and son relationship .. may he Rest In Peace, sometimes I hear myself inside saying “ what would Stan do “ I like what you have to say even years ago thanks

      That is a great story! Yes sometimes the pupil will eventually surpass the teacher. Seems like Stan taught you a lot! Thanks for sharing!

    All mentioned are great books, another one to add is Pace Makes The Race, Huey Maul, very interesting ideas on how the pace of the race is so important.

      Thanks for the recommendation. I will have to check that one out! I love pace handicapping. I think it is one of the most important factors in handicapping.

    In what order should a beginner read the books?

    • @Weekendhandicapper
      @Weekendhandicapper  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Nathan. I would start with Brad Free's Handicapping 101, then Six Secrets of Successful Bettors. Beyer on Speed, Exotic Betting, Money Secrets at the Racetrack, and progress up to Betting T-breds for the 21 century. If you are wanting to focus more on learning handicapping right now and not so much the betting part of it then begin with Handicapping 101 and then Betting T-breds for 21st Century. Then once you got a good grasp of handicapping you can start getting fancy with your betting and that's where some of the other come in. Hope this helps and good luck at the track. Thanks for tuning in and your comment.

      It seems like racing is big in the UK. I need to start paying more attention to it since I am an early bird and it comes on in the morning here in the States.
