I appreciate putting yourself out there, and admittedly the HF tool isn't great, but with actual proper technique it works pretty well. 1 - didn't appear to clean surface of car properly beforehand. 2 - dent was really too big for that puller. 3 - used waaay too much glue. 4 - you do NOT just crank down until something breaks free... put some tension, wait... little more, wait... and so on. This takes patience, and several goes at each spot. 5 - on a larger dent you do not start in the middle, start at one end and move as you go, pulling each section a little at a time. Trick is not to make too much change in any one area too fast.
Looks like the person that returned it before swapped the hot glue gun for a regular one with normal hot glue stick. Pdr glue guns and sticks are different, with much stronger and usually yellow or black glue sticks
He may not be the most mechanically sound bloke on the net but if I were in a debate or a math competition, this is the guy I want on my squad. Good vid mate
Absolutely, funny. I love your purity of heart. People on here laugh at you but u showed great patience. Others would have been cursing, blowing up emotionally. I would like to have u as a friend.
Glue pull isn't for every type of dent but to take care of a crease such as that you want to work from the high spots. You want to work with a body hammer and relieve some pressure around the dented area as you go. It will take more than one pull, just saying.
Believe it or not, tool actually works if you get a NEW one that has not been messed up. Clean all the way around the borders of the dent and all the way to the center of the dented area. I also suggest you use a heat gun to heat up the metal around the borders of the dent and let the glue dry on the warm surface before starting to pull.
You need to scuff up the face of the pullers with some 120 grit sand paper which gives the glue a keyed surface to adhere onto. It also makes the pullers flat which helps as well. Also don’t try and bite off all off all the repair at once ....bodgery (great name btw) is fine but there’s definitely a technique to this method. Finally It is a cheap device there’s a lot better and more reliable units out there for just a bit more money.... good video though thanks for sharing 👍👍

At least you didn't put it on the internet for the world to see how stupid you really are. Unlike this "Genius". Its called research. Every job has the right tool. Wrong tool for the wrong dent. DUH!
I just used this tool to pull every dent out of a beat up 01 Ram! Nothing broke, dents are gone, tool ready for next need! Amazing tool, recommend to all, except this guy. Lmfao. Wow
"Did absolutely nothing" LOL...I think the dent is a little too large for this tool. It's for dings, not bowling ball sized dents..LOL This video is hysterical.
I realise this is an older video, but you really didn't pull it right. First, you need to use the pull tab that matches the dent the best. Apply enough glue, and leave the tab to stick for a few minutes (also make sure only the glue touches the panel). And since that's a large dent, you're supposed to pull it starting on the outside. There are plenty of videos online to tell you how to "read" a dent to know where to pull next.
5 years into the future you can find a video on TH-cam of a fellow pulling a dent like this out of the side of his truck bed, using only a claw hammer and hot glue. He hot glued the handle end of the hammer to the dent with hot glue, and once it cooled, he gave it a yank and the dent came out on the 1st try. Worked a lot better than this puller. Also 5 years into the future, Amazon sells amazing, cheap, paintless dent repair (PDR) kits that should work 1000x better than this puller. You gave it a great go at it, and I have looked at this kit at HF before I bought the PDR one from Amazon. Oh there are 1000's of PDR videos now that will show you have to do it the right way now. Just search PDR on TH-cam and be amazed!
Thanks for showing us this tool from HF . I think I will pass on this tool . Their are other glue pullers that look more promising . sliding hammer & better glue. I think your better off removing the interior door panel and hammer out.
almost got it. if he had more information it could have come out pretty good. also, did better than I expected based on his confidence level at the start of the video. keep trying Matt, thanks for posting.
Would have worked better if you started at the small end and worked years the larger side. Also your not going to get any movement at the larger end unless you release the tension at the door edge and those high spots. Otherwise your tool should have worked fine. Also was using to small of adapter
He has no clue. The tool works well on small dents, but the idiot wont let the glue dry first. He has to wait like 8 minutes. I have used it to pull dents and it does a good job.
Put glob of glue on body, then set the middle plastic dent puller. Let glue harden about 5 minutes then install cross bar and pull dent. It should work just fine IF you let the glue set up.
@@vleldaddio210 Well, you are trying to pull the dent from the center. You need to start around the edges and work towards the center. The way you are setting things up, you’ll create more problems by putting a high spot in the middle of dent. Your second problem is using Harbor Freight junk. Suggest just spending the $100 or so and have a professional do the PDR In about 45-60 minutes and save lots of aggravation. Doing things on the cheap when you don’t understand dent removal will only create more problems and cost you more in the long run. You were doing it wrong. You don’t put the glue tab in the middle of a crease. You put it on flatter non creased areas of the dent and you would have gotten much more of the dent out.
That’s what happens to people who don’t read instructions before usage or return the product that was returned before, was bought by this guy to buy one that was not open previously or returned.

There is alas a massive market out there for car repair bodgers with no experience in the form of cheapo bodge kits, which may do half a job but usually much worse. I was slightly taken aghast when Acetone was mentioned as a release agent. Anyhoo, I assume it's an old car and Kudos for the guy warning off other bodgers at the risk of becoming a laughing stock. Luv ya Matt. Subbed.
I've seen other videos where it does work but you have to know the type of dent you're dealing with. You need to use different techniques for different dents. Sometimes you have to tap a dent out (PDR) and not try to pull it. Tapping releases the tension so you don't crack your paint or create more dents. He should have done more research.
I used one today in a very shallow dent it pulled it out about 4 inches long its almost unnoticeable i may try to use it in like a 1/16 crease but yes i went to one of the sides and pulled it out.
The reason that broke is because the upper puller foot is not completely flush to the body of the car, both feet HAVE TO BE flush. You can clearly see the upper foot at an angle, and when you put pressure to that, bad things happen, it's not the fault of the product, it's operator error!
You tried so , you don't start from the center. First in last out. So you do the ends of dent and work to the center. It may not have broken but you never know. Thanks for the effort.
Great job at lease you tried. Sorry to see the other tool broke on you. The panel looks great i woudnt worry about it. No one will notice. It wont effect the preformace of the car.
It's a cheap tool, but you definitely didn't use it correctly. The surface needs to be prepped correctly, and you need the puller to be on a flatter surface. That puller is not compatible with the location of your dent, and you need an oval shaped attachment.
I sure hope people don't go off of this guy's review to decide to buy it or not because this is the prime example video that gives tools a really bad name & reviews. I've had this puller for awhile now & it works. I'd recommend getting the yellow dent puller glue sticks instead of the regular Elmer's glue sticks that comes with the kit & certainly don't use half a stick to glue it on like he does. This is more comedy than a review. I'd love to see the bondo work & finished dent lol.
i could use snap-on panel straighteners and make them fail every time, I could also make them work as they should. . . not degreasing or prepping the paint prior to applying th glue is just one thing that "made" this fail there are many things that could have been done to make this work, you couldnt find a more dficult dent to pull out, running to the edge of a door is the worst place for a dent. try a dent in the middle of the bonnet/hood that runs out before the edge of the panell, these are for some dents not all of them . . but entertaining viewing in some ways. .
it didnt work because it is not made for a crease dent that long. it is made for a door ding. PDR has existed for over 30 years, but dents like that are best left to professionals.
