  • Today we put to the test a $15 dent puller kit from Harbor Freight to see how well it works. The dent is in a pretty challenging removal spot on the corner of the roof on my Tacoma so this will be a true test to the tool. Hope you enjoy!

    A lot of PDR videos I've watch heat the paint with a heat gun before the pull so the paint doesn't crack, they also use IPA to remove the hot glue. I think you do a really good job. I'll have to check to see if HF still sells this kit.

    The white stick looking thing is your tap down. Lightly tap around the dent to relieve the rest of the pressure. And pull again.

    HF puller works pretty good on medium to large dents. Had very little luck with hail damage, but besides that it works good. I scored my tabs with a razor before use though. It helps.

    Good warts & all video got a few dents that I will try to remove thanks to you.
    I have no idea if it would work but think I will put a washer between the knob and the frame, thinking that the resistance will be reduced and make turning the knob easier as the washer will turn as it gets tightened down.
    Great vid 👍👍👍👍

    it doesn't get better than that when you have a crease on a curve! You would have to use some bondo and sand and paint. You probably wont see it unless you're to the side with the light hitting it just right. I'm impressed that it lifted the crease as much as it did! Good move roughing up the plastic for the hot glue to stick better!

  • @jamesward5721
    @jamesward5721 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you start figuring out how to get really really good adhesion with tabs like these - examples being warming them lightly with a torch first.. - you can start exerting pretty crazy pressures via them - pulls into the hundreds of kilos. However what will happen then is the steel shaft will tear out of the plastic tab as you get better at sorting adhesion issues.. That's using a pulling tower not the little jig the tabs come with. So with that being said, if you are not getting a pretty solid pull with these & the little jig, it's your adhesion technique that you need to sort, because the tabs will take some pretty hefty pulls waay beyond what the kit is designed for.
    TLDR - sort adhesion issues & these pull pretty well.

So....I have a local Pro Dent repair place in my hometown. Both times I have brought dents in for repair, they said I "over pulled" the dent....made it worse.....lol. I mean, it looked better to me, but, the pro's said I jacked it up. So....... beware

    This kit while good for the money will not fix smaller dents near edges of wheels or on double walled metal it is primarily for thin sheet metal in the middle of a large area otherwise the glue will not hold you'd be better of using gorilla glue letting it set and then dealing with getting that off the hot glue is very weak even after it sits a while
