Hi William - hope you and yours had a nice Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks for watching a pretty boring video (again LOL) but it may help others accomplish this goal. My little boy Blake dumped the DR a couple of times while we were camping, but he is ok and that's all that matters. Cheers Mate !!!
Dan - thanks for watching buddy - ya, I am very happy with the results. An Acerbis tank will happen eventually - Like yours, DOC, VW - etc. - But Suspension is next & I really like showing people how to accomplish a bummer of a task. Fails also LOL..... Cheers Mate !
Thanks for the demo. I haven't dented my tank yet and now that my bike has a name and improved self-esteem it might stop falling over. But just in case.......
"PC" - Thanks for watching - Even though I have to do some "touch up" painting, I am very happy that that dent is gone. I'm gonna do one more pull on that last little - lower portion of the remainder of the dent - as long as I can stay away from the edge of the decal !!!!! Thanks for watching & cheers !!!! - BTW - What did you name "THE MIGHTY SUZUKI DR 650" ???? 😬 Mine is named "THOR"
@@ParallelCamper Dude, That is "tits" - Awesome !!!! "DR PEPPER" Freakin perfect & Original !!!! Now you gotta get some stickers LOL !!!! - My email is: transamdane@gmail.com - Email me you address & I'll send you some stickers !!! - Not for the bike (they look like shit on the bike) but maybe for your tool box, or A BEER FRIDGE !!!!!! Cheers & Bitchen name for sure !!!!!! - My "little" boy drinks DR PEPPER like I drink beer LOL !!!!!!
Great vid. Really god job from this side of the camera. That little oops would have been all I needed to to sand her down get out the bondo and give the tank a wild new look. Love painting (airbrushing) tanks and fenders. So easy to do also.
@@pilotdane1 Yeah, that was a bummer, but you did a great job trying. . .and the dent came out! Maybe a little more conservative on the pace of the pulling next time, and it may not pull paint. We all learned from it ;-)
OHHH DUDE!!! Heartbreak hotel! I was thinking yes ... yes ... it's going ... it's moving ... almost there .... NOOOO!!!😫😫 Heck of a try OW! I never thought it would lift the paint? Sorry brother, nice work on the touch up though. The Mighty DR650 now has its battle scars. Thank you for sharing.
VW - Ya, it was the decal that got me - then a small portion of the paint - If it was all paint & no decal - I "think" I would have been ok. Gonna try one more pull on the last little lower dimple & STAY AWAY FROM THE FUCKING DECAL !!!!! Still 100% better than it was - and for a Dirt Bike, I'm cool with a little touch up paint. Still very happy with the results !!!
You started turning the knob farther and quicker than you did on the previous times, even though you didn't ever do 1/8" turns. That might be why it took off the decal and paint. Before you were slow and 1/8" turns. Last one you turned it faster and 1/2" or more turns. Good video.
Ya man - Obviously, not sure how bad it is - but like I said, it may take several attempts. I think mine took 3 - But follow the instruction closely, AND TAKE YOUR TIME !!!!! Cheers !
SRL - You are quite welcome. Even with my "fail" - the main intent of this channel is to help people and have fun. Thanks so much for watching !!!! CHEERS !!!
Impressive! Patience is a must indeed, but that looks good. If you ever do need a stock tank (slightly used, undented, well loved, but not in a bad way) you're welcome to mine.
You are very kind. That is way cool of you !!! - I'll say it this way - I'll keep this for a bit longer, but eventually I'll be getting an Acerbis too !!!! Thanks RT !!!!!
WOW OBI! That system works quite well! It is actually cheaper than the cost of shipping my stock 2020 DR tank to you! Looks a heck of a lot better. I was wondering how it would affect the paint and stickers. Great video on how to fix trail damage! Cheers!
Thanks DOC - I'm gonna do one more pull - (while my phone charges) - and try to stay away from the decal, and get that last little lower "dimple" out - but that's it. It's 100% better than it was - and for a dirt bike, I'm cool with a little touch up paint. Acerbis in time (maybe) - Suspension is next LOL..... Cheers Brother !!!!
Stanley - Thanks for watching. I don't think it'll pull off paint by itself - however, the sticker started & took some of the paint with it LOL. My "little" boy dumped the bike while we were camping. Actually fell over to the right - but hit so hard - That dent was from his left knee HA HA - But he was fine & THE MIGHTY SUZUKI DR 650 was good to go !!!!! Cheers !
Thanks for this, very helpful! Do you think there's anything that could have been done to prevent the removal of the decal/paint? I just bought a DR with ACERBIS tank installed and it also came with a dented OEM tank. Would like to make the OEM nice again but a bit worried now. Thanks!
Brother - No matter what you do, this is a possibility, however, I think if I would have backed off a little sooner, I would have been ok. I'm sure you've done a fair amount of research, but some guys do it from the inside out. I tried it various times with absolutely no luck. I know I'm not much help, but good luck !!!!
Yes sir - that is on the list "one day" - But that said, I like "trying" to help people / show them how accomplished a particular task - Even with my "failures" LOL..... Thanks for watching & hope all is well with you & yours & had a Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
I did not empty my tank. If you leave fuel in there - do NOT use a heat gun, or hair dryer. The safest thing to do would be to empty the tank. Your call on that one - Hate to give advice on something like that because a ton of people say "use a hair dryer and get the metal warmed up before pulling out the dents." I found it made no difference.
Good Video. Harbor Freight has saved us all... at 1 time or another !

Used it on my 2022 gsxr 750z. Had 2 inch and a half dents on the gas tank. Worked like a charm.
Awesome !!!! - I think so too !!! & like 15 bucks !!!! Can't beat that - Thanks for watching !!!
Looks good for $15 though. Impressed how it pulled. Good to know you have to watch the stickers

@@pilotdane1 I'm not very creative. Since part of its name was already on the tank, I decided it should be Pepper.

Thanks Beamers !!! Love it. I'm 61, I love the Older stuff. RUSH too !!!!
Thanks for watching & Cheers !!!
Oh that gave me a good deep belly laugh at 5:34. Exactly the type of shit that happens to me. It was going so well too! Thanks for sharing. 😂
You bet man - Thanks for watching !!! Still happy though, a little touch up and good as new..."ish" ha ha - For a dirt bike.
Great job bud. . .that was awesome!
If not "sarcasm" - worked great until the end, when I peeled off my decal... Either way, Thanks for watching !!!

"MAJOR" - Thank you so much for watching !!!! Have a great weekend !!!!!
Honest video tapping. Amazing the glue was so strong it pull the paint and sticker off. How did the tank get dented? Thanks for the video.

Not a total answer but not bad. Good video.
I need to do this to my honda. Would you say use the hairdryer every single time?
I don't remember doing every time - but that said - can't hurt !!!! Good luck !!!!
Ever thought of getting an acerbis 20 litre ( 4.4 gallon ) tank?

Should we empty the tank or can we just used it on a tank with full of fuel?

Who don't like Rush!!!🎉
RIGHT !!!!
Will this work on both plastic and aluminum bodies ?
All I guess I can say is I would assume so - as long as they are thin - Like the gas tank.... ???? Cheers
😂😂😂
Thanks for watching LOL 🙂
