I can't help but notice how good Russell is at conversation. He delivers his questions so perfectly and thoroughly, you almost think he wont end, but then he knows exactly when to stop talking and switch to listening mode. Even when the other person is pausing and thinking, he doesn't use the silence to start back up, he waits patiently. Plus, his wisdom is immense. Bring him back!
That is a skill . Highly effective in making people think that what they have to say is important . Like simply asking a question . That other person automatically feels that they are thoughtful, smart , needed . It may be genuine . It does become habit , just like anything else .
Russell is the first person I’ve seen that asks JOE questions, and intentional questions at that. It makes people feel heard and valued, so they’re compelled to be more vulnerable and engaged. He’s very thoughtful and empathetic. Very powerful traits.
Joe. Dude you need to have Russel back on the show. There's so many new things going on in 2022 the discourse world be great. Hands down 2 of my favorite public figures and comedians. I would like to see Russell's own channel come up to your level of subscribers. Even if I don't listen to you as much on TH-cam since the censored episodes. If Spotify is where I have to go to get my JRE unfiltered I see that as TH-cam's lose not Joe's. Bless you both you amazing human beings
Sounds like you don’t like accountability. I do believe there are instances when you lose the right to your way life when your way of life inflicts harm on others.
@@quarksarranged I'm not sure what you mean about not liking accountability. I completely agree that as soon as your morality leads to actions that cause harm to others (by that, I mean people), it becomes an issue. But thoughts and actions are not the same.
This is SUCH a good example of how a conversation with somebody you don’t necessarily agree with on everything SHOULD go. Very refreshing to watch this. I loved it.

You can see Russell’s training of self awareness with things he has may have had problems with in the past how he tries to talk fast if he feels hes been talking for long and He tries not to prolong a joke too long so as not to derail the convo. But because he is such a great comedian it’s hilarious when he pitches in on Joe’s jokes
The reason its so great and fluid is BECAUSE of the fact they rarely do episodes together. Like when you meet up with a friend after not seeing them for a year: theres so much to talk about and catch up on, but if they were doing a podcast every single motnh i feel like after a few episodes the dynamic would change a lot. This was a fantastic podcast and we should just be glad to have it! But I agree their conversational chemistry is brilliant.
Lol it’s like who can sound more woke contest. Some good points but when two white guys open a podcast dissing a black woman for telling people to get over slavery is behind cringe. Slavery doesn’t affect anyone today and NO ONE is holding black people back besides themselves and whites people like these two trying to sound woke by prolonging an already resolved and resolving issue. It’s like the popcorn was already thrown in the microwave and it’s cooking and they are just making observations about why it’s still cooking and the microwaves structure and function. They are ineffectual besides views.
It amazes me how articulate Russell is, and how fluidly he strings thoughts together. I wish I could carry a conversation with the same clarity and poise.
His brain is operating at another level. I used to be friends with a guy like this. His thoughts just flowed out, witty, intelligent and just constantly running. It's crazy. Charismatic but can be exhausting.
Luke Rudkowski and Jimmy Wales together If you don't know who Jimmy Wales is, he's the founder of Wikipedia. If you don't know who Luke Rudkowski is, look him up on Wikipedia... oh wait, you can't. He's been erased from Wikipedia for political reasons.
Both Russell and Joe have transitioned a lot since this original conversation, definitely need them to get together again now that they see what the real agenda is
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Russel Brand is a god damn national treasure, we (UK) should hold him as close as we possibly can, I would listen to his views over any of the BBC reporters any day of the week! Never change Russel, Never change sir!
Bro, I subscribe to him. I have a storied military career (US) and one of my MOS’s was 35F (intel analyst). Before Russell started his podcast I couldn’t believe that media outlets couldn’t see what was happening. Russell was behind the power curve to me on what was happening but caught up quick and surpassed traditional media. I used to be flabbergasted as to why most people, especially media couldn’t see the situation for what it was… I thought it was pure leftist propaganda (during Trump) but Russell made me realize later that the media is owned bye like three guys. To be clear I’m referring to the media causing social upheaval, especially police shootings based on race, to destabilize the Trump Presidency. Notice how the media hasn’t put forth any police shooting cases since Biden got in? Not a coincidence. Most black people (mentally) exist in a race driven state of mind.
I never seen him do anything. I have seen y'all acting like assholes. You can't see or believe in what you're watching but believe closet skeletons. And seems like anything good is doubted and everything negative is automatically believed and endorsed by most commentors. Katt Williams calls people clones or pedos "we need to protect him at all costs Katt Williams says he read 3,000 short books in 50yrs " he's a lying asshole"
This interview is a beautiful example of how two people can retain their own personal opinions and discuss them in a healthy, dare I say joyous manner. Inspiring. Hat off gentlemen.
Russell is a global treasure. He’s eloquent, loquacious, astute, insightful, highly intelligent, humble, empathetic, creative, and just a general good guy. Good combo.
I've seen russell in a few movies, but never heard him actually communicate. He is soooo genuine, an absolute open book, this has made me truly love this guy. He's outlook on life, and understanding that everyone is different and accept who you are as a person, rather than being fake since you don't share the same beliefs. His positively is very uplifting.
@@AdamDawson1984 Yes I was indeed making an attempt at humour which is a subjective thing. Some find things funny and others can find the very same thing either stupid or offensive. I can only assume Dizmop was offended by me because he thought I was making light of Russells comment a tiger doesnt care about your mortgage if so this was not my intention. I find Russell Brand to be very articulate and some the comments like the one I joked are both profound and thought provoking. To quote another comedian "people don't like jokes".

I revisited this again, it’s one of the great lives on Joes channel. Brand is such a fantastic person, very interesting but the ability to articulate himself and ask very strong questions! He kind of takes the show over and interviews Joe yet Joe still interviews Brand. This is what happens when you get two brilliant people together. Such a great podcast.
I met Russell a couple years ago after one of his stand-up sets. The dude must've been mobbed by about 200 people. But he individually gave each person his full attention, he took photos with and had a conversation with each and every person and his attention wasn't deviated for even a single moment. Truly magnificent skill, I've never seen anyone do that before. [EDIT] Wow guys I've never had so many likes from a comment before. Hope you're all having a great day! The world is crazy at the moment. But in time, everything will be alright.
These two amazing human beings need to have this kind of "sit down" at least once a month; not only to discuss important issues but also to show how its done correctly by people who are more interested in growing than being seen as "right" or "wrong". Joe, Russell; do it for humanity sake! Plz...
TheMarq16 he was a comedian or is. Dave Chappell popularized that technique as well as referencing a subject multiple times from different views through a show.
This episode was not at all what I expected, and I mean that in the best possible way. Russell Brand seems like such a nice, humble, and introspective human being. Which I guess isn't at all how I imagined him. His passion for animals and the way he talks/thinks about how to best raise his daughters was super heart-warming.
Agreed. But i dont see it from the hollywood star side. Im from the UK and have followed him well before he went into hollywood. Hes a fascinating man x
Even that is more complicated than it needs to be. The difference is simple. Intelligence is knowledge.. wisdom is experience. Wisdom is acting on knowledge implies you're wise before you become wise. However.. acting on knowledge means you were already wise to be begin with and that leaves the question how to be wise open still. Theres no value in that. Again.. leave it to Rogan and his guests going through mind opening experiences at the age of 50.
I wasn't a fan of Russell when he first became famous but I've come to appreciate his perspective. I don't always agree with him but it's obvious he's trying to better himself and I respect that. Thanks for having him on
Not only was I thinking the same as both of you but I've tried to hate him for no reason and I always find that I may not like him but I respect him in a lot of ways
He’s used his fame and turned it to an angle that helps other people from his own experiences and that is beautiful, the man really inspires me and that’s what life should really be dedicated to, changing others
@@popomomo12 I think his shtick can be off-putting. That said, this is him in rare form. If you watch him on the most recent appearance of Real Time or TV news stations (like MSNBC -- and no, I don't watch MSMBC 😂 -- I saw it on a TH-cam compilation video), he's overly energetic. I'm not too fond of the high energy shit. However, this version of him is much more reasonable in this interview.
Not really. Russel Brand is really naive, he's introspective but somehow can't connect the dots between how much a burger costs and the sharp rise of it if factory farming is made illegal overnight. Says, but it shouldn't be priced up! That's just not how economics works. Goes back to blaming capitalism offering no real solutions.
I love this. A vegan and a non vegan sitting down and having a non heated conversation and sharing their own point of view whilst respecting each other! We definitely need more of this in the world
Yeah. The fact that this is not the norm is fukd. People need to get their panties out of a bunch if they can't converse the same exact "way". It's how we were born imo. (Most) This fussing and fighting and hating etc is a learned behavior and somehow became accepted as the "way to be"... Whoever thinks everyone is going to be just like them is dumb---er than shit. That said, I must admit I would have a hard time being "kind and/or understanding" with one of these human fuktards eating dolphin 🐬. Apparently in Japan it's sold in the grocery store. So sad.
I never thought I liked Russel Brand, but this interview completely changed my mind. He's such a smart, grounded dude. So glad I found JRE and have access to the wealth of information that all of his guests provide.
@@IntEngT "great destiny ?". That's like saying when someone dies " it's so sad, they had there whole life ahead of them ". That was their whole life. It wasn't long enough ?
Yeah it was almost too much. So much analyzation of people and society. I would have been like, "People are selfish, want to be attractive, be well liked, and have wealth, and be the best at things. Some let that become their sole drive and don't actually enjoy life. And that's about it. So Joe, ever done DMT? Joe: Oh, 100 percent.
You must sit in a room alone way too much. It was only a couple of hours of conversation, you should try it, it helps with the sharing of ideas- expressing your own and opening your mind to others. It's all very well to listen to other people having interesting conversations but it's really important to have your own with the important people in your life. That's one of the reasons I love going on road trips with my husband because the exchange of ideas is what makes us a society, that's a relationship, and there's constantly something to learn about even the people youve known for your whole life and those you spend hours with everyday and that's really one of the most amazing and beautiful things about relationships with other people. I don't mean only romantic relationships, I mean the whole spectrum of human relationships from the woman you sometimes greet on your commute to your childhood best friend to your siblings, grandparents, distant cousins- all those relationships are so very different and it's the conversations you have with each of these people that make them what they are.
Man, I wouldn't call myself a fan of Russell Brand's work, I've never watched his stand up and I've only seen one bad movie he was in, but he seems like a really awesome dude. Like he seems like a guy you could go have lunch with and he would get you talking for hours about stuff you're interested in, asking relevant, pointed questions the whole time. Just unbelievably charismatic.
Martin King whats great about both Joe & Russell is they’re two characters who absolutely listen to every single word that comes from the person they are connecting with.
I liked Adam Sandler's movie that Russell Brand was in Calle Bedtime Stories. It's actually really funny. And most of the best comedy came from Russell
Just watched this for the first time and I loved it. Both Joe and Russell had amazing, intellectual, challenging, funny, complex conversations, even with their difference of opinion on some topics. They both learned from each other, listened to each other, didn’t shut the other one down, didn’t belittle or shame the other one. It was a wonderful communication between 2 individuals who respected one another and has never been more relevant than it is right now.
The thing that is crazy to me is that in this time, after all we have been through throughout history, that something so basic as having a respectful conversation with someone and being open to discussing different opinions without stooping to insults and belittling is now such a remarkable thing. It is so refreshing to see these types of interactions, and yet it is really bewildering that we are at a place where this is so rare that it feels as refreshing as it does. We all need to stand up and make sure that we bring that same level of oneness and empathy to any discourse we have with others with different opinions. Insults, even with logic, never change people's minds. Kindness and empathy with logic has a much better chance at creating the space for change. 😊💖
Both you guys are really wonderful human beings...thank God, for these two...who are very engaging, intelligent & a force of nature. They help teach us what a world we could live in...if everyone was more open to the fact that we learn from each other & if we would stop & listen then we could learn how much we really really need each other...we can change the world with love & respect for each other is showing that love.
@@maggimentis1428 Hi 😊 are you meaning I should get out more because I don't see a lot of positive interactions? I do get out, and I do see a lot of people standing up and speaking out for love and unity. And being open and accepting of different views. But most of what I see at this time, whether online or in person, is unfortunately division and hate, and fear (to an alarming degree). I've seen many many people wishing death on other human beings on both sides of political and medical arguments constantly. But yes I definitely have been also limiting social media use and being careful about how I use it so that I am not being constantly exposed to it. And it is hard for most to step out of ego and respectfully disagree, and be completely open to exploring another's perspective that opposes their own held beliefs and it is not something that we see happening a whole lot in media or social media, or even in real life spaces. So that is why I found it refreshing to see two well known people in the public eye openly discussing things that they have different opinions on and being fully respectful and open to each others views 😊 Also I saw so many comments on this video about how nice it is to see these types of interactions, that it indicated that this is something that is remarkable enough to comment on for a lot of people. 😊
Watching these two very different human beings interact with humility and mutual respect, as enlightened individuals, really gives me faith restored in humanity energy.
This is one of my favorite podcasts of all time from two of my favorite people of all time. Appreciate you gentlemen and your perspective. It would be amazing to have a follow up and get you back together!
Russell seemed so excited to pick Joe’s brain throughout the whole podcast. So fun to watch them share experiences and learn from each other. Great conversation.

The world needs more people like Russell Brand. He's amazingly eloquent, thoughtful, deep, funny and well spoken. He doesn't force his ideas on anyone, but he has a great way of making others think. I have to admit that when Russell first arrived on the scene in the UK that I wasn't a fan but over the years I've watched him grow and mature into the missing link that he is. Now I have nothing but love for the man because I know that he loves us all
I wholeheartedly agree. I used to think him a complete tossero. His comedy material doesn’t necessarily grab me but I have massive respect for him now as socio-political commentator. He exudes empathy and humanity and crucially he’s truly for the people and an anti globalist. Nowadays that counts for so much. Love to hear these two deservedly influential voices in discussion.
BRING HIM BACK! I'm watchin' this Aug. 24th, 2024... my oh my how Russell has changed from even THIS version. And THIS version is so different from the old version! This man keeps evolving.
Einstein was recognised as genius level IQ of his time. Russel is a perfect example of a genius level EQ. His processing speed is so fluent yet insightful you don't feel he is speaking too fast even though he speaks faster and with an economy of words that is amazing. I could listen to him discuss subjects for days.
As a non-native speaker it was quite a challenge for me to listen to Russel at first. It seemed like he's speaking at x1.75. However, with every new podcast I feel my neocortex is adjusting to his speech tempo. I find it impressive - both Russel's fluency and my brain abilities 😄
@@Alice-sj9or He also employs the English language in a beautiful combination of slang and high level English Vocabulary and Eloquence so it makes sense that being new to learning English he his hard to follow. I am sure that alot of native English speakers aren't intelligent enough to understand him so well done🙂
He has the verbal/vocabulary skills of somebody who might have Aspergers, for example. As a lot of geniuses had that type of 'wiring' A lot of those people get misdiagnosed with "mental illnesses" such as bipolar affective disorder, etc. because they have high trait anxiety as part of the neurological wiring , and so on. They are usually VERY sensitive to substances as well and psych drugs can destroy them. Glad he is meditating, not taking any brain-damaging psych drugs that we know of, and off the other drugs as well.
This was really insightful. I only had passing familiarity with Russell but this podcast was very eye-opening. The way he is able to empathetically, actively and honestly engage with topics even when he might disagree with a basic premise is really valuable, and the way he so seamlessly gives and takes feedback in a conversation is really impressive. A really great listener and great conversationalist.
Agreed - his youtube channel is really one worth watching - and his points are usually 15 minutes still in depth - but sometimes I can't give 2 hours to watch a full Rogan one LOL
Weird to think that his accent is essentially the England equivalent of a Southern drawl and is generally looked at as a lower class dialect over there. Great man and wit
I was obviously overly judgemental but I was never a big fan of fan of him; maybe even thought he was a bit of a wanker, but I can not believe how wrong I was. He is definitely one incredibly genuine dude.
I wonder how the podcast would go if joe invited an SJW or a BLM. That show would burn....burn literally and figuratively and...idk..Cany you imagine joe staying sane?

I do not believe they are on opposite ends of their respective scales. Listening is so tough, we always want to pre-propose a response without fully listening. It's such a unique skill.
That is a skill . Highly effective in making people think that what they have to say is important . Like simply asking a question . That other person automatically feels that they are thoughtful, smart , needed . It may be genuine . It does become habit , just like anything else .

I could listen to Russell Brand all day !
Russell is the first person I’ve seen that asks JOE questions, and intentional questions at that. It makes people feel heard and valued, so they’re compelled to be more vulnerable and engaged. He’s very thoughtful and empathetic. Very powerful traits.

Yeah i love this guy.

His 12 day series on Commune was amazing...
His act is a put on he’s notorious for being completely different off camera.

These two need to have monthly podcast chat. This back and forth conversation is perfect.
Love how they both use complex language perfectly in a way that they maybe wouldn't in connversations with others
I agree. Two individuals describing wisdom
@Cindy Wallis
You got that from them talking about their struggles and how they were able to overcome, ok
Yep. He’s quite a guy. The more I see the more I like.

Hell yes this is why I love these podcasts, from crazy comics to Astrophysicist and everything in between no subjects off limits no guest filtering

We definitely need more of this in the world
Not to mention the non vegan happens to be a hunter as well.
This was the norm in the times I grew up in and what’s happening today is seriously Wrong and Must be Stopped.
So sad.
"You like...hunting" lol
Yes!!!! More respect and love is needed everywhere.
I love seeing these two together. They just "vibe" really well.
I never thought I liked Russel Brand, but this interview completely changed my mind. He's such a smart, grounded dude. So glad I found JRE and have access to the wealth of information that all of his guests provide.

Joe " I love ju jitsu"
Russell " i love the exquisite flow and movement of technique in ju jitsu "
He is always a treat to listen to 🖤
your entire life time to this point...
Man there’s so many times Russel went ahead and took the word’s right out my mouth. I want to see him on again Joe Please!!! Make it happen again!

Really is such a well rounded, great conversation.
I liked Adam Sandler's movie that Russell Brand was in Calle Bedtime Stories. It's actually really funny. And most of the best comedy came from Russell
his stand ups are grand!
Ya he’d be a real hoot if you don’t mind not getting a word in edgewise and listening to him beat a simple descriptive to death and back again!😂

@@infiniterippleshypnosismed2817 maybe you should get out more...
(AND, also, I take your point)
yes.
So that is why I found it refreshing to see two well known people in the public eye openly discussing things that they have different opinions on and being fully respectful and open to each others views 😊
Also I saw so many comments on this video about how nice it is to see these types of interactions, that it indicated that this is something that is remarkable enough to comment on for a lot of people. 😊
Russel is very smart, when he speaks about spirituality it feels like he’s speaking to my spirit 🙏🏼

What is "EQ"?

I do not believe they are on opposite ends of their respective scales.
