dude I don't care how much you think that you're one of the best pet parents... throwing him/her in that cage take any credibility you think you have any you should be ashamed of yourself, do that poor puppy a favor and find another home for him/her. that puppy deserves so much more than you're willing to give.
@tats7859 you clearly have 0 knowledge of crate training and the benefits.
Would you suggest someone find their child a new home for putting them down to sleep in a cot/crib? I'm guessing not.

Educate yourself on the benefits of crate training, and then we can talk properly instead of getting upset over something you have 0 knowledge on.
Benefits other than the ones already mentioned. Help with crate training, keep puppy and home safe when unsupervised, help reduce the risk of separation anxiety, give the puppy a space they can take themselves off to when they want to be left alone, allow a puppy to sleep undisturbed which in turn prevents behaviours associated with over tiredness. Allow us to feed and train puppies individually, reducing the risk of food associated aggression and many more.
Bad points, people get upset about it when they haven't seen it before because they make a snap judgement that its where a dog is kept.
Its a secure bed where they sleep, not where they live.
@PuppyStepsPuppyTraining go lock yourself up in a crate and train yourself if it so beneficial, and putting a child in a crib is not the same thing but keep telling yourself, ' that' if it make you feel better. Besides the only thing you accomplished by putting a dog in a crate is anxiety or leaving them in there lock up is going to feel separation problems especially if you leaving them in there and leave the house, or leaving them in there at night... what if there's a fire and you can't get to them?? Keeping a dog in a crate ( cage ) does nothing but damage to the dog and letting the dog think that is his safe place is wrong that whole house should be his safe place.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned growing up with Bulldogs, is that no matter how well you train them, they will do something knowing full well that they’re not supposed to do it. They’re so stubborn it’s hilarious, that’s only one reason why I love them.

My bulldog when I was very little would break out of his cage and come to my room and lay down with me and mom would always scold both of us, but both of us were like "hey we don't plan this, lady, it all just works out"
They are the best! If you look at lists of smart dogs, they are way down there. The lists are wrong. They are so smart.

@@jamiejameskingofgames4648yeah some dogs are very protective of their food and will growl or snap at you if you get too close when they eat. Starting them off early by letting them know that’s not acceptable/you’re not a threat to their food is the best course of action
Yes, probably. Fear of losing out is what causes it and claiming it as theirs.
If he's possessive of food, then I would hand feed, and not from a bowl. This will teach him you are giving, not taking away. Use it as a training aid. Train and use his food as rewards
It was so important to me that I made sure my parents' dogs weren't food aggressive. I petted them, took a handful of kibble out of the bowl and then fed it to them. And praised them for being so chill. They are the calmest, most steadfast dogs I've ever seen. And while I like to think part of that was me, I think most of it comes down to their souls. Such good babies. They are loved more than they could ever know.

Y'all the dog ain't starving. Some dogs get really excited to eat and eat way to fast but they get fed regularly.
Its surprising how many people think a dog is starving because they eats fast.

...here's the only thing you need to know... about English bulldogs; they do not grow up. They put on weight so you have a "very heavy (very sweet) puppy"... that you need to be willing to help ( get into things so they don't hurt their back.) I'm glad you are teaching him early. My brother thought he had trained his English bully properly until he had his first daughter. Winston goes from point A to point B without any concern as to who or what is in his way and sent my niece flying several times when she was learning to walk. He had to learn his wait and hold commands while my niece was toddling around, especially when she had food in her hands. And she had to learn to tell us that she was done eating instead of dumping her leftovers directly on the floor for Winston to eat. They are the best of friends. 😂
They often don't realise how big or powerful they are. But if they're raised correctly and socialised well they often make great family dogs
