- Set in between the time period of Alien and Aliens, Alien: Romulus depicts a new crew facing off against the Xenomorph. Due to the time period of the film, could the protagonist be Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda?
The final trailer for Alien: Romulus also gives hints at some crossover elements to Blade Runner--further illustrating the canonized shared Alien-Blade Runner universe.
Written by Rodo Sayagues and Fede Álvarez, directed by Álvarez, and produced by Ridley Scott.

Short answer: Definitely not
Long answer: Apart from the obvious of her name being different (her name is Rayne Carradine), Amanda was 11 when she left and this takes place 20 years after putting her in early 30s which doesnt line up because the point of Romulus is that the characters are meant to be early 20s. Even more damning is that Alien: Isolation is canon to the lore so it also just doesnt line up whatsoever.

This is a theory I've been having for several months. One of the more recent trailers mentions that our protag's dad went to the outer colonies and left her there when he died, with very specifically no mention of her mother. Dad Ripley and Amanda could've gone out into space looking for her. Add in all the Alien: Isolation vibes and it's basically a stealth-adaptation.
Feels like a brazilian soap opera. 😃I hope she is not related, and im not aware of Ripley having a second daughter. Also Isolation is canon as far as im concerned and Amanda never seen a xeno before that. On top Fede stated you dont need to watch any other movies to understand or enjoy this one, so that would be a bit more complicated i guess to set up.

Nah, Fede Alvarez doesn't seem like the type to follow the legacy sequel trope... It would be too big of a coincidence for Rain to just randomly be her daughter when the entire crew are just thieves attempting to steal equipment.

This looks exactly like Alien Isolation. They should have done this around Amanda's story. Would have loved to see the game story in live action with Ripley's daughter searching for her.

My theory is she discovers her moms fate near the end of the film, probably with the droid character being involved. Also revealing her real name. (Rain being a nickname) Maybe even locating or knowing where her moms EEV is. Maybe the company has docked her shuttle at the Romulus station and Rain releases it. That could be that image we see of what looks like the shuttle in the background. We will soon find out.
Just a speculative theory. We will see soon.
I'd find that disappointing, would be too coincidental. I'd be happier with this being a good film on its own merits, not a fan fest.
I'm thinking most of the crew are synthetics and the alias might play into this scenario by the company's or some outside player's design.
if she was 11 during the events of Alien ... and Romulus takes place 20 years after Alien that would mean she is 31 ... all the characters of Romulus are under 30 so that theory isn't even mathematically possible

Seriously, Amanda's story would be so cool. Based on her age (as stated in Aliens), she was 11 when Alien happened, so if you're right, that would put her at about 31during this movie. That tracks. I hope it's her and they do Alien Isolation Amanda justice.

No, the events of Alien Romulus takes pace a decade after Ellen Ripley is lost and frozen in hypersleep. This would put Amanda at 21 years old.

None of the Characters in Romulus are in their 30's all of them are in their early 20's so the time doesn't add at up at all

in the director's cut showing Ripley's daughter like she hasn't done anything specials in her life, just sat and hated her mom all her life. if Ripley had more family members, maybe some of those took a more active role in wanting to know what happen to Ripley and got into some trouble out there in space.
No, she's not. Amanda was eleven when Ripley left. This takes place shorty after. Amanda is in Alien: Isolation years later. It's not Amanda.

This takes place 20 years after Alien, and 5 years after Alien: Isolation.
The theory that the planet is the one the Nostromo took off from is just that, a fan theory, not in any way confirmed, just as there were fans confirming 'big chap' was roaming the halls in this movie, which i wouldnt expect. Dont take anything as cannon unless Scott, Cameron, Alvarez, Hill, O'Bannon or Giler confirm(d) it.

Unfortunately, Isolation is considered canon, so for Fede to come along and do that to the same character twice is abit moot.
Totally out of the know--how do we know Isolation is canon? Who has the power to determine that? Scott?
How have so many fans of the Alien series never heard of Alien: Isolation? It's the third best Alien story after the first two films, and it's exactly what you're theorizing for this film -- Amanda now works for the same Company her mother worked for, in the hopes of finding out what happened to her, and ends up going to a decrepit space station to find out the truth.

I suspect Fede is trolling us... There's probably an escape pod that can only hold one person, which means Cailee Spaeny's character (Rain) will probably end up giving her spot to whoever Isabella Merced is playing... They are seen hugging at 3:00 this almost looks like a "Goodbye."

I think that the movie Outland could also fit into the continuity along with Blade Runner.
Could jive with Soldier (1998) too, which starred Kurt Russell and is officially a part of the Blade Runner universe.
I loved Promethius and Covenant. I also Liked AVP 2, but the first one was cheesy. I liked the 2nd one because it showed The Predator as a prime hunter which some of the other predator sequels, including predators, kind of failed at.
They will be leaving the Mining Colony on Thedus the same Planet the Nostramo stopped at when its Science Officer was replaced by Ash.

The funniest thing is: There are now two women in space in cyrosleep, who fought both with the alien. Ripley will be found in 37 years from the Romulus Film (because she is allready 20 years in sleep) and Rain wil be found in nine years on the new planet, where the sun shines.
Amanda Ripley has her own canon story in Alien Isolation searching for her mother Ellen Ripley, Romulus is about totally different characters with their own stories.

Given the Dialogue and her reaction, and, well, everything we get in Isolation, Amanda sees the Xenomorph for the first time in Alien Isolation. When Axel talks to her about that Monster killing people, and later when she talks to the others, that's very obvious. So this is definitely not Amanda Ripley in Romulus. Amanda also features, at least mentioned, in the Alien novels Alien Colony War and Alien Inferno's Fall. So she already has her own story and war against the Xenomorphs.
And the whole AvP series is not happening in the same universe. The Predator is not part of the Alien Canon. It's only Promethius, Covenant, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien 4. Also Alien Isolation. I am not entirely sure about Alien Colonial Marines, Alien Fire Team and Alien Dark Descent. Also no clue about Comics. The Alien RPG is also part of the canon, or at least is bound to original canon.
It would be silly if she was. Ripley encounters the creature by accident. Sure, WY pulled strings on Nostrum going there, but Ripley herself is not special and just part of the crew.
Having her daughter also stumble across the beast accidentally is some Star Wars level family tree plot convenience.
It makes sense in Alien Isolation because Amanda is searching for her mum which brings her in contact with the creature. It's not like Amanda was just going about her life and just coincidentally stumbled across the alien.

I was under the assumption that alien isolation was Canon, but if it's not then I guess this is the next best thing?
I think it was pretty good being an Alien fan of the first two movies. However, I really couldn't connect it with the 80s movies. There was no humor, or any scene that sticks, and it was just kind of weird. I thought about that being her daughter, but who knows what they'll come up with.

But not to worry... the ending could leave it OPEN for a Sequel to be more Aliens related. As if something survives the Stations fall to the Planet, there are quite a lot of Colonists.... so it would open up looking at what a Colony would ne like/deal with a Xenomorph outbreak.

The placement of the film in the overall Alien film timeline doesn’t allow for the protagonist to actually be Ripley’s daughter. Her daughter would have to be much older in Alien Romulus, since it takes place approximately 20 years after Alien.
Isolation takes place in 2137 this film 2142 that being siad the protagonist character already has an established name and is not at all related to Amanda.
Problem is.. Fede Alvarez see’s Alien Isolation as cannon to the franchise.. Amanda is the main character of the game..

Ripley's daughter is not in the movie and stuff theorized here has already been at least partially explained via interviews and what not. I don't think lot of your theories are even close just based on what has been said, but I do think that Fede is going to tie up some loose ends.

Ahhh nah. First off her name is Rain Carradine. Not Amanda Ripley. Second, she's too young to be Amanda. Third. We know what happened to Amanda in Alien Isolation which is considered cannon by most fans and the studio, plus Fede the director loves the game. He wouldn't just discount it in that tastless way. Lastly. Having a cheesy reveal that she's Ripley's daughter would just be such a dumb, eye rolling cliché that it would pretty much ruin the film.

Ripley daughter was 66 when she died. Ripley was out in space for 57 years and missed out in her daughter.. So, she only had that one daughter. It makes no sense!!
well you have to consider this Movie takes place 20 years after the first movie Alien in which Amanda was 11 ... Ripley was in Hyper space for 57 years so that makes this movie Romulus 37 years before the second movie Aliens ... that would make Amanda 31 years old at the time of Alien Romulus .. she was alive .. but that said we know that all the characters of Alien Romulus are Adult Teens and Early 20's ... so None of them could possibly be Amanda ....
So this Movie takes Place while Ripley is in Hyper Space ... This movie is the events that happened on the Space Station before Ripley arrived with the new Crew in Aliens where they found Newt ... which means Newt might be the daughter of one of the characters from Romulus ... eh the math still seems off by 10years .. oh well ...
