In the original O'Bannon/Shussett "Starbeast" script, the screenplay WAS totally reliant on the monster, and the story ended up a bit one-note as a result. I enjoyed Covenant, but the stupidity of the crew in the 1st act really took me out. That back buster scene scared the hell out of me!! It was so gross, but effective. It was a long scene, which made it even more uncomfortable. He suffered a long while before his death. Great stuff.
@@djstuntfox if the crew weren't stupid...nothing interesting would happen, We have to make a mistake in order for something to happen . you can find stupid things in all alien movies. Especially in ALIENS.
Honestly if it was me, I'd make a movie introducing other alien creatures that are just as dangerous as the Xenomorphs. Alien Resurrection kinda did that, Prometheus, and Covenant did it too. We could use a bit of variety here and there.
I respect that Ridley appreciates that Fede casts young relatively unknown actors. It's quite easy to blow a big chunk of the budget on a veteran cast to secure an audience and make sure that the critics even if the movie is bad may say, at least the acting is good. @@magicstu Cameron only gave him advices on the phone.
Fede Alvarez cooked on this movie, it’s up there in the top three after Alien and the no.1 Aliens.
ALien Covenant is a Astonishing Achievement. possibly the greatest alien movie purely by its innovation and bonkers ideas ..initself deserves praise ..in years to come we will appreciate Alien Covenant
@@thomasjackson5204 but is it not more interesting and fun to watch actually intelligent people get out smarted by something almost unstoppable?

Ridley’s the same age as my grandparent☺️
Did he say David?
ridley wanted to make 'texas chainsaw massacre in space' when he did alien; fede succeeded at pulling that off.
what is the future of these alien movies? where do they go after this one?
Honestly if it was me, I'd make a movie introducing other alien creatures that are just as dangerous as the Xenomorphs. Alien Resurrection kinda did that, Prometheus, and Covenant did it too. We could use a bit of variety here and there.
There's an Alien TV series currently in production for FX, that is created by the same guy who made Fargo. It's scheduled to be released next year.
I'm worried about this film but expectation is high
You were right about being worried
@@mennymoto I'm going to watch it on Friday so we'll see
I respect that Ridley appreciates that Fede casts young relatively unknown actors. It's quite easy to blow a big chunk of the budget on a veteran cast to secure an audience and make sure that the critics even if the movie is bad may say, at least the acting is good. Personally I feel Ridley is slightly guilty of at times doing that. So I think it's cool that Ridley has respect for a director who is confident in his ability to cast and direct young actors.
I'm excited for the movie. But if it ends up bad or loosely hanging from the universe, I'll never forgive them scrapping Blomkamp. Real fans are actually here for a reason.
Let Ridley make another Alien movie!
Please let Cameron do it. Ridley's been slacking lately.
@@jackraider1039 Cameron is shooting his Avatar films. He's not interested, I will think.
@@dis_inferno9173 It's still bullshit that that movie got delayed. Hell it's bullshit if any movie gets delayed.
Please god no ! He is such an inconsistent director.more misses than hits and alien covenant especially was so bad.
Uhhhh… he did. Covenant.
