This particular video here is SO great because of the really clear exposure of the aliens. The movies are edited where there are so many effects and scenes fly by so fast that you never really get a good look at the aliens' features & overall appearances. It's so cool to see them behind the scenes and how they really, truly look.
Hi Jason, thank you very much for your kind words. It really means a lot to us and is exactly why we put so much effort into producing this kind of in-depth featurettes and interviews with cast and crew.
Just now finished watching this wonderful piece of art... This movie is just an example of a good sci fi movie is made , it gave me the alien isolation vibes.. and its been a long time that i finally watched a proper sci fi movie with good story pace and art direction . some scenes in this movie will just keep on ur seats and makes u feel more disturbing which makes this movie an actual worth to watch.... Loved it mann❤❤
do people actually believe that they shot the outer space scenes for real? lol, guys the CG isn't bad, what's actually good is the proper use of CG in combination with practical, I bet there were way more CG facehuggers on screen than not, but because they showed a physical puppet our brains are just fooled, which is brilliant and that's pretty much the best way to do it, with invisible CG and practical.
I REALLY hope when this is released that it has a great commentary and a deep and rich behind the scenes set of features. I miss Blu-rays and DVDs that you would buy that had that extra disc in it full of behind the scenes stuff. Sometimes an hour or two hours in length I ended up watching those featurettes more than the movie. I have hope when this gets released to digital this is going to have some great behind the scenes stuff!
Thanks for this. As others have said Practical effects are amazing. When watching it you have to remind yourself as they are that good. Some of the shots also are truly brilliant.
The film is incredible. It takes the most transcendental elements of the entire Alien lore (leaving out, thank God, the AVP garbage) and takes it to a new level. It's really magnificent what Fede and his team managed to do.
love the refrences to Alien: Isolation too, awesome that the Director enjoyed it too, and I like that he wasn't afraid to use stuff from Prometheus... as much as people give it shit, it still had some neat ideas that would be a shame to waste
Saw this last night and thought it was a fantastic film. So good to see this level of practical effects being used again. CGI just cannot create that same look or atmosphere.
Moderation, loooots of films don't have any moderation with CGI and just shotgun it everywhere, mixing practical effects good set design and a modest use of CGI looks so much better, the animatronics team did great work on the Xenomorph as well as everyone else involved, white a few scenes I'd love to save as Wallpapers for my PC
At 5:23...That scene with the xenomorph emerging from the wall cocoon was fantastic and brand new cause it's something we have never seen before....any of the other films after the chestburster emerges a crew member or whoever will find its molten skin somewhere and then the alien will be killing left right and center....so seeing it's birth as a full grown xenomorph was so fresh and class looking
the practical effects definitely came in clutch for this movie. there were some plot things i didn't like so much, but were a lot easier to accept and take seriously thanks to the practical effects, cinematography, lighting, set design, and compelling characters. i definitely feel like without them i could've written this movie off as more of a cash grab nostalgia bait movie than an legitimate attempt to bring back the vibe and feel of the earlier movies. i bet if you were to put some film grain over Romulus, it'd be hard to distinguish it from being made in the 80s. Edit: I also wanted to mention that David Jonsson was my favorite of the cast, he did a phenomenal job of playing Andy, and was probably my favorite part of the movie. He really helped to immerse me into the world with just how well he played a slightly damaged/outdated android, and how quickly he could change to the more cold, calculating Rook-influenced Andy. I wish that they had maybe gone somewhere with the android welfare commentary, like I had expected that Andy would have had a chance to express how much he disliked being "taken over" by Rook so to speak, and how it made him go against his own ideals, but that never really happened which I feel made the metaphor of androids as a minority group fall pretty flat, and felt stranger given the context that Andy is black. Rant Incoming, my apologies it just kinda happened: Historically in the Alien franchise, androids have been used mostly as representative of the Weyland/-Yutani Corp and are meant to be the unempathetic voice of a company that only cares about the bottom line. But as the movies have gone on and androids given more depth, the ideas start to kind of fight each other. Is this essentially the same as a human being, free to make choices? Or are they all subject to programming that will end the life of a human at the drop of a coin if its for the "greater good?" It just feels strange and mishandled the further they play into it, but then drop the ball.
Just seen the film. A great addition to the franchise, brimming with new ideas. I particularly enjoyed the return of Ash (even if he's called Rook) and the way different elements of the previous films are used to make a new synthesis. It allows for a great story. Oh, and I loved Cailee Spaeny!
I think this is the third best Alien movie after Alien, Aliens. Yes, I think it's even better than Alien 3. I've watched it 2 times and I rarely watch a movie more than once. Really only the very classic epic movies Terminator 2, Star Wars etc...and the Romulus.
Great movie. Definitely had the vibe of the first movie. It was a fast moving story which I liked. Rotten Tomatoes ranked it 80%, which I thought was about right. They made a good profit out of it so hopefully the story will continue with more Alien movies.
Though the plot was trite and predictable, this is easily the best installment since Aliens. A return-to-form with plenty of quality xenomorph mayhem (the ‘facehugger swarm’ and ‘acid maze’ being highlights). And those Easter eggs! Truly a treat for diehard fans, lovingly-crafted by another.
The acid maze was honestly so cool, and I know they didnt do this so that they COULD have an acid maze, but while watching, I was like why not switch on the gravity and then back off before leaving that doorway with the switch, thus making all of the acid hit the ground and letting them fly through the air above it.
I wonder what foto they had on the wall. She looks completly different on every foto you find on the Internet. Even here in the interview she doesnt look like in the movie.
This movie is so damn good, forget AVP and Prequels, Alien Romulus and the Trilogy stick with that. Finally a GOOD Alien movie once again. Practical and real. Talent at work.
I’ve seen so many negative comments about this movie throughout the week, and they clearly haven’t thought about the behind the scenes process and planning put into this movie. Everyone thinks that they just made this movie cuz of company greed and to just cash in on nostalgia, but this shows that there was a lot of passion and thought put into this movie, this is where the movie truly shines
VERY POOR PLANNING. just because you work hard to make something.. doesn't mean that something is any good. I've never seen a movie with so many glaring continuity errors.
No, you shouldn't have to watch production-footage to like a a movie more. It doesn't ease the plot or any other issue you have. Just pick the worse movie you ever watched & look up bts-footage. I guarantee you will finde some where the crew worked azzes off but it won't change your opinion into thinking it's a good movie.
No you two in the replies are both hypocrites. This is complete bs, no constructive criticism only negativity. Your unhappiness is clearly projecting on everything else and is preventing you from enjoying an amazing movie that holds up since aliens. You don’t get a bitch pass just cause you’re old and cling on to nostalgia.
@@NOTNAFilms opening scene has 2 major plot holes and 1 continutity error alone.. ignoring the gapping plot holes, the alien was blown into space hundreds of thousands of miles away from the Nostromo.. it wouldn't be found floating right next to the wreckage. The small coal ship goes out of control and starts hitting thing on the space station, it ends with a long scene of it crashing into a HUGE cargo bay with those HUGE like 500 foot tall doors closing. Then two scenes later when preggo girl opens the hatch to get out.. somehow the entire ship is in a tiny hallway that she's lock in?? They're trying to figure out how to get the facehugger off of the girl and ask Andy for help, he literally says "I don't know anything about this creature," then 4 scenes later, when all the facehuggers are very conveniently in the same hallway, He suddenly knows everything about them and how they have no eyes, hunt by temperature and sound and explains a bunch of other stuff about them. There's a scene were they show the elevator cable coming off the pulleys.. and specifically say the elevator doesn't work in zero g. except that all 15 times we see the elevator in the shaft.. there is no cable on it. they then procede to use the elevator normally anyway in zero g with no issue. Also in that sequence, the entire floor of the 100 foot long hallway blows out into space.. but somehow when the elevator goes down.. it plugs the hole and the suction stops???? Chick kills like 30 aliens then floats around the acid... there are no dead alien bodies in that entire sequence.. they just disappeared.that's like 6 of at least 50 I counted..
Visually it looked great, I'm so glad they weren't CGI Xenomorphs or anything. Everything looked solid, slick, well shot. I wish the gang could've gotten more character development because I genuinely found them interesting especially Navarro. Would've made their deaths more meaningful.

I just realized that Cailee Spaeny would be much better choice as Ellie instead of Bella Ramsey in the Last of Us. Cailee's reactions and play would fit better in the character. I can't feel Ellie as Bella plays.
This film gtew up on me I also had several issues first M 28 , so listen.. Great CGI , I am a Star wars fan , i have seen Rogue one which is under Disney. Yet Disney being Disney , they tuned down the violence & dark atmosphere in Rogueone however in Romulus, its looks phenomenal. Stars look like Stars , space looks like space , destruction of Romulus ship took time ; cuz unlike in SW , Which evaporates every small , big object in some seconds DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT IN reality. Teenage cast is there cuz they have already announced a sequel. And Mr Alvarez being the director, i have hopes there are going to be backstory of Andy & Rain may be The guy who likes Rain too .. rip to him . Suspense, logic , cause & effect were done superbly. Tbh , scientifically accurate. FH being stored in cryo makes Sense .. they couldn't able to sense humans in equal temperature makes sense , Romulus ship being closer & closer to asteroid belt makes sense too . If it would have been any jolly chap of director like Taika or Rian , they 'd inserted jokes . No offense to Ridley; however there weren't stupid things like people smoking weed in space , exploring planet without suits or dumb jokes , Sex ... Dear Lordyyyyy Prometheus was soo good except for the humans behaving like Buffons 😂😂 *Sees an alien snake like species , proceeds to touch it 😂 And people applying too much logic need to understand when human beings are threatened or full of fear , we choose to apply emotions. We bypass logical solutions, physics, stats . Its very easy to judge while sitting on a couch ; however when you're in a tough situation, YOU'D CHOOSE TO RUN . ESCAPE, CRY & miss the logic . Thats why Andy didn't help Dora . Otherwise the film would have been finished pretty soon. Offspring? You are angry bC of offspring? It hinted Engineers? Well then F you . Cuz this is the first time i saw a mother's body going through sadistic experiment. I know covenant footages had David experimenting on Shaw's body but Some Boomers & Gen x executive were wuss to see it 😂. Ridley Scott didn't release those footages in covenant 😢 just because of that . Old people are a THREAT TO INDIVIDUALISM, TO ART . Have an open mind . World's shrinking.. Elon is talking about kardashiv scale & these people are offended because A film Didn't Turn Out To be Their Way . Wow 😂 So , many fans ... Many endings??? Many films?? 😂😂
I’ll bet I know the franchise a lot better than anyone else in this universe. Seen aliens about 2000 times. I know literally the whole dialog and even sound effect by heart. 😂😂. I’ve seen Romulus about 100 times already😂. LOVE THE FRANCHISE
Finally Prac Eff . I love the movie but some parts not appealing or strong for me .. But it remains faithful to its franchise. Hope nxt itll be intense. I understand the timeline thats why its not putting any drastic changes
First time ever seeing an alien movie and I enjoyed it very much. As a sci-fi fan the world building and visual quality was incredible, especially compared to something like the acolyte that had over twice the budget.
Kinda sad that they not mentioned "Robert Bobroczkyi" who played the alien at the end, again a big plus for not using any CGI, good played Robert Bobroczkyi
People complain about the Ian Holm android stuff. Yes, it looked terrible, but that is a testament to how little CGI was in the movie. It was mostly real sets and real props. One bad CGI scene does not ruin the entire movie. The CGI Ian Holm was on screen for maybe 4 minutes total, so it's not like it was the main focus of the movie.
This movie is close to the original four movies in the franchise.👍 3rd best movie Behind ALIENS and ALIEN. This is truly a direct sequel to ALIEN. Aliens gets pushed back to part 3.

Absolutely love this flick. Best theatrical experience I've had in a very long time.
You know modern filmmakers is always lies when they say we "dont use cgi" right? U need to watch "no cgi" documentary in 4 parts
@@dzenacs2011 I don’t recall saying they used no cgi? I said “this level of practical effects”.
Effects, set design, casting, editing were all 10/10. The story needed some work. Especially with the inconsistencies of the previous films.
At 5:23...That scene with the xenomorph emerging from the wall cocoon was fantastic and brand new cause it's something we have never seen before....any of the other films after the chestburster emerges a crew member or whoever will find its molten skin somewhere and then the alien will be killing left right and center....so seeing it's birth as a full grown xenomorph was so fresh and class looking
it was so scary and SO GOOD! i keep watching it!
Cailee was perfect, the rest of the cast was easily just as profound! all so memorable and unique.
This movie is on the right path of genre of Alien franchise and Cailee's role is almost the same as Sigourney Weaver's character in 1979s Alien
Thanks for uploading this. I love how much Fede and his crew respects this franchise.🍿🖤
Cailee as Rain looks so much like Ellie from Last of us. Just a little less angry.
Waited so long to see this and not disappointed loved it…I HOPE THERE IS ANOTHER SOON!!!!
the practical effects definitely came in clutch for this movie. there were some plot things i didn't like so much, but were a lot easier to accept and take seriously thanks to the practical effects, cinematography, lighting, set design, and compelling characters. i definitely feel like without them i could've written this movie off as more of a cash grab nostalgia bait movie than an legitimate attempt to bring back the vibe and feel of the earlier movies. i bet if you were to put some film grain over Romulus, it'd be hard to distinguish it from being made in the 80s.
Rant Incoming, my apologies it just kinda happened:
Historically in the Alien franchise, androids have been used mostly as representative of the Weyland/-Yutani Corp and are meant to be the unempathetic voice of a company that only cares about the bottom line.
I'm sure "Andy" did some dad/knock knock jokes on Alien: "Knock Knock" - "Who's there?" - "Alien" - "Aileen Wu?" 🤩🤣
Just seen the film. A great addition to the franchise, brimming with new ideas. I particularly enjoyed the return of Ash (even if he's called Rook) and the way different elements of the previous films are used to make a new synthesis. It allows for a great story. Oh, and I loved Cailee Spaeny!
I watched this movie first in Dolby Cinema and then twice in IMAX at AMC Lincoln Square 13. 😎👍
IMAX > Dolby Cinema.
You did an outstanding job Fede! I was born the year the original alien movie came out and this movie made me proud!
Make more !
They made a good profit out of it so hopefully the story will continue with more Alien movies.
just watching david talk makes me cry he is such a gentle being i was rooting for these siblings to survive the entire time
Though the plot was trite and predictable, this is easily the best installment since Aliens. A return-to-form with plenty of quality xenomorph mayhem (the ‘facehugger swarm’ and ‘acid maze’ being highlights).
And those Easter eggs! Truly a treat for diehard fans, lovingly-crafted by another.
The acid maze was honestly so cool, and I know they didnt do this so that they COULD have an acid maze, but while watching, I was like why not switch on the gravity and then back off before leaving that doorway with the switch, thus making all of the acid hit the ground and letting them fly through the air above it.
this movie will last generations because of the props.
This movie is a very good addition to the franchise. This is actually good!
It’s flawed but it’s very good
The best filmmakers tell the truth. This team told the truth.
I wonder what foto they had on the wall. She looks completly different on every foto you find on the Internet. Even here in the interview she doesnt look like in the movie.
Just caught it now at the end of october.
Its a nearly a sci fi masterpiece. Amazing work.
Happy for all of us and the crew. Congratulations.
This movie is so damn good, forget AVP and Prequels, Alien Romulus and the Trilogy stick with that.
Finally a GOOD Alien movie once again.
Practical and real.
Talent at work.
Of all the alien films ALIENS to me stands out the most as the most American one; I don't remember any British accents in that movie.
aaaa, that's whay it has such a 80s vibe. Amazing. Thanks.
Cailee would be perfect for a The Last of Us show or movie!
No mention of the offspring. What a shame. He deserves a feature.
@@jeremycovelli I'm genuinely curious about what the continuity errors were?
😂 i absolutely NEED such a Facehugger crawling around xD SO cuuute and what heartattacks i could give my friends ❤
The best film I saw this year. The practical effects gave it another level of realism many Sci films can't match these days
BEST ALIEN MOVIE EVER!
Visually it looked great, I'm so glad they weren't CGI Xenomorphs or anything. Everything looked solid, slick, well shot. I wish the gang could've gotten more character development because I genuinely found them interesting especially Navarro. Would've made their deaths more meaningful.
this was a really fun watch I thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍
I saw this movie and man it was an incredible experience. The nostalgia is what I appreciated the most especially the Reebok shoes! 😊
このフェイスハガーほしいくらいにすごい!✨
すごいですね🎇
You can really tell they went above and beyond, the movie was outstanding and Flawless i also loved how they Introduced “Andy” I loved Covenant & Prometheus
Filme maravilhoso ! Parabéns a todos os envolvidos ! BELA EXPERIÊNCIA CINEMATOGRÁFICA !
Fete needs to do a resident evil movie!!
This Movie is a absolute Masterpiece!!!
When possible practical is always better than CGI.
Thank you 100 times in many ways for this great movie
The practical effects look better than the computer-generated images.
I am a die-hard Alien Fan! I have the entire Alien franchise on Blu-ray including Alien vs. Predator, Alien vs. Predator Requiem, as well as Predator I, and II... I can't wait to add Romulus to my collection!!
❤❤❤
I didn't like the fact that they changed the design of the xenomorph like literally everything. The previous xenomorph from alien 1 2 3 4 was better!
WHAT A PECKER
I just realized that Cailee Spaeny would be much better choice as Ellie instead of Bella Ramsey in the Last of Us. Cailee's reactions and play would fit better in the character. I can't feel Ellie as Bella plays.
Man that alien costume looked like it was 3D-printed....very-cosplayish looking. 😆
This film gtew up on me
I also had several issues first
M 28 , so listen..
Great CGI , I am a Star wars fan , i have seen Rogue one which is under Disney. Yet Disney being Disney , they tuned down the violence & dark atmosphere in Rogueone however in Romulus, its looks phenomenal. Stars look like Stars , space looks like space , destruction of Romulus ship took time ; cuz unlike in SW , Which evaporates every small , big object in some seconds
DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT IN reality.
Dear Lordyyyyy Prometheus was soo good except for the humans behaving like Buffons 😂😂
*Sees an alien snake like species , proceeds to touch it 😂
And people applying too much logic need to understand when human beings are threatened or full of fear , we choose to apply emotions.
Well then
F you .
Elon is talking about kardashiv scale & these people are offended because
A film
Didn't
Turn
Out
To be
Their
Way .
Wow 😂
So , many fans ... Many endings??? Many films?? 😂😂
Cailee Spaeny was the right choice for this, she's an amazing actress.
i rly loved Andy the most when i watched the movie , all i cna say all did a great job as well ! great movie
Would love to see Fede´s 16mm shots he made while doing the film
2:07 Facehugger ASMR :)
5:23 love this scene
Love the movie keep it up ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
First seen the movie, and afterwards the trailer and this making off and reviews. The best way
Kinda sad that they not mentioned "Robert Bobroczkyi" who played the alien at the end, again a big plus for not using any CGI, good played Robert Bobroczkyi
saw first session at imax and loved it!
I went back to see it again on IMAX with motion seats and it was an amazing experience.
❤😊
I just watched this movie at the cinema. I really liked it good acting, good effects. Well done 👍👍👍👍
Glad that Alien is back to the basics
Great cast and acting. This will go down as one of the top Alien series
@@maxchau6973 exactly. I will not be surprised if it grows on people and becomes a classic.
Amazing creation.
@@MindVortex7000pretty much. This film will be like predator 2 in the future.
This was the best alien movie to come out
Ong best movie of 2024
Lol
this movie was perfect.
Not perfect but definitely good
It's not too too scary but it's awesome🎉
This movie is close to the original four movies in the franchise.👍 3rd best movie Behind ALIENS and ALIEN. This is truly a direct sequel to ALIEN. Aliens gets pushed back to part 3.
Я посмотрел эту часть в кинотеатре,хорошо снят,захватывает с первых минут!Альварез не разочеровал!Свежая кровь!
I have watch this film twice and honestly the second time knowing all the film, I could appreciate even more than the first time the movie. What a great return for the saga!
WOW UTTER GARBAGE!!! IT IS THE WORST FILM EVER MADE!!!!
@@whiterabbit1632 if that is your opinion, it is fine. Not all the things have an unanimous decision.
