Indeed. I think Jeff is doing a fantastic job! People are just hating on everything while sitting on their couch, never having performed a single song on a stage (apart from some embarrassment in school maybe)
Even if Jeff came up & sang it in a different flavor, people will still complain he's not doing Scott justice. Granted, people can have their critiques, but also I bet it's pretty tough for him to find his voice, when people will always compare him to Scott no matter what. I personally think people should cut some slack.

Thank you for the recording! I do miss Scott but Jeff can hold his own. Erik Kretz, the drummer, a local San Jose boy and Scott was born in San Jose, CA as well! Robert Deleo is an exceptional bassist and his brother is an underrated guitarist! Thank you for posting! STP was and still is one of my favorite bands.
I think that AIC still did a good thing. There’s guys out there that sound just like Layne. Brayden Mayer for example. But then it would really just be a tribute band trying to sound like what they did with Layne. I would love to see someone with more similar vocals to what Layne had but I still think that Duvall is a great fit in his own way.
I caught Erics stix at a Family Values tour in Worcester MA. The guy next to me in the pit offered me $120 for them cuz he was a "bigger" STP fan than me. I bought 6 30 packs and lived my semester out. Btw the DeLeo brothers are legendary. Keep rocking
I agree what else is the singer supposed to do? He’s doing a great job. Whoever Stone Temple pilots are backing up is wrong to me. They are headliner I don’t care who’s singing I have been rocking to these guys from the 90s still now.
It is Saturday. I am headed up to Traverse City with my sister to watch Stone Temple Pilots and concert. We saw them four years ago and was just amazed at the lead singer’s talent so happy that this band has continued with their music even though Scott is an original I love watching them live.
I think every long time STP fan misses Scott but sadly any one of us could be gone tomorrow. The ones left behind have to continue living. The rest of the band worked as hard as Scott did and wouldn’t he want his legacy to not only be remembered but continue on? I admire Jeff for stepping into that position and he is a hell of a singer. I didn’t think Steve Perry could be replaced with Journey but Arnel Pineda is incredible.
EXCELLENT! Love this band, Dean is one of my top 3 favorite guitar players and the (not so) new singer is perfect. Couldnt ask for a better replacement for the late great Scott W. These guys still rule.
I am seeing them this Friday in NJ and have been conflicted without Scott up there. Jeff is doing an excellent job. This, however, is now the fourth video I have seen during this tour of them walking out to a dull audience. It is very sad to see this but I feel the same or I would not be so reluctant to go. I know that Scott was 25% of STP and all the guys want to continue playing their music but yikes, there is a huge hole and Scott is Scott is Scott and it really is what it is. But again, EXCELLENT job to Jeff! He has stepped into some pretty big shoes and is crushing it.
Still sound great. STP never get enough credit; while they were one of the 4 bands that defined the grunge era! Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots, dammit.💙
LOL @ Dean Deleo, and his wise ass crack about Eric "barely" graduating high-school. We went to a meet and greet in Tampa, we go to meet all 4 of these guys. As a bassist I went right up to Robert and shook his hand and started talking about Bass, and Dean exclaims.... "What, are we chopped liver over here?" I had to laugh and file that away in my memory vault. Good times!!!
Jeff is killing it on vocals. He sounds great. Very similar to Weiland, which is exactly what I'd hope for from STP. Scott can never be replaced, but STP must keep going, so I welcome the new singer and hope STP go on for a very VERY long time with him.

I got to see STP during the No. 4 tour. Scott had recently come back and was doing well. They put on a fantastic show, sounded great. But we all know the downward spiral Scott embarked upon after that and they never were able to really get it back together. I have always wondered how big they would have become had Scott and his continual interruptions constantly caused them setbacks. Hopefully with Jeff they will be able to evolve into what they always could have and should have been. This guy was the perfect pick to take Scott's place. Honestly I think they probably should have fired Scott and hired Jeff or someone like him long ago.......
Out of Time is one of my favorite STP songs and its a Jeff song. And I am an OG STP fan from the beginning before Core started selling. Basically when their first single hit. I love this band. Its a shame Scott couldn't get it together and stop using H.
Now is 100 % band like it should be (without unreliable individuals ) . They are better and healthier than ever (no drugs and other stupidity, just fantastic studio and live music) !
People don't seem to realize Dean and Robert started this band Scott was hired by the 3 that started the entire thing I hate comments like they are a tribute band it's not a tribute band when they still have 90 % of the band still playing
Do they have recorded an álbum like Core or Purple..or the rest of the albums...?...they don't...and never will... that guy is just an imitator, in a tribute band.
Ok let me ask this do you think if scott was still here do you think they would have made records like core and purple with his drug addictioni don'tt hink so no band today can make an album like they did 30 plus years ago not Metallica not pearl jam no one from any era can @javiercarrasco886
Hey, if they’re happy and the fans are happy, what could I say? Good on ‘em. But to me, having the new guy (who is a very good singer) up there just trying to do the whole Scott vibe, down to the look and the movements, is like having your dead grandma stuffed by a taxidermist so she can still sit and have Sunday dinner with you every week.
I know it's not like they woke up one morning and said we need a new singer it's still STP now if they were like the band saliva who by the way have no original members and still call themselves saliva I would disagree they are now a tribute band playing saliva songs
Jeff is an amazing vocalist technically much better than Scott - watch his performances on the singing show X way beyond Scott's ability as a singer - he is singing to what STP needs to sound like Scott and do his own thing - Scott's strength was his persona stage presence and showmanship and his singing (he was great) we all miss him the band has moved on and found an awesome replacement -
The moves that Scott admitted he lifted from Iggy Pop and Perry Farrell. Everyone imitates someone else to some degree. Scott copied Layne with his hair and sunglass for a while, then copied slash in velvet Revolver by always having a cigarette on stage pretty much then copied his idol David Bowie with the suits towards the end. It's ok
Wieland by no means was an innovator in the stage persona category. This cat is a pro, both vocally and stage presence. STP has never performed and sounded this good live. Bravo to Kretz and the brothers for moving forward with Jeff Gutt. Oustanding band, outstanding songs.
I completely agree with you and what most comments are saying contrary or explaining it. I have not watched the new iteration until this video and I had seen them with Scott 8 times over the decades. So on that note I was worried about how I’d feel - agree with the “tribute” feel but will leave with these last thoughts, Scott was one of a kind so getting someone to play the role is about the best you can hope for bc there would be a lot more b!tching if someone came in and it sounded much different and as long as the rest of the guys rock like they do and have done, I think this is as much as we can hope for with such a unique band if we want to still see them play without the biggest instrument in the band - Scott. Rest and rock in peace and thanks for the music.
