Hehe, yeah I know this one. Problem is after your impressionable girlfriend looks at you in awe, a minute or two goes by and she starts to realize I can't REALLY play anything else than this and a few kiddie songs, fragments of songs... then finally, I have to admit "I'm really a bass player."
Blueridge BR-180 2007 Natural just bought this. I’ve played for 50 years, played them all , had most of them. This is the prettiest, and nicest sounding acoustic I’ve ever played .
Nicely played. I’ve been playing for about 25 years on & off . Haven’t played at a gig for about 10 - 15 years. You have got me inspired again. And bagged yourself a new subscriber 👍
For what it’s worth nothing beats my Taylor for bright, shiny expressive voice, my Martin has the most amazing bass and Resonance , but the perfect hybrid between the two is my new Gibson G 200 e c hybrid series with a single cutaway. It’s bright and deep and it’s my new favorite and it’s half the price of my Martin and Taylor that’s the one I take on stage now.
I am 70 years old this April and still play a j-45, plus a Gretsch or two and a dented fender with a crack on occasion, The Gibson j-45 is my go for at home where it is safe from harm, enjoy the other two when in the studio, also like the acoustics of a dented fender with a crack on the back for the road, a travel anywhere guitar and loves it.
It's wonderful to hear about your musical journey! And it's inspiring to know that you're still playing and enjoying your guitars at 70. Keep strumming and making beautiful music, and thanks so much for watching! :)
A marvellously simple lesson, delivering an impressive end result. This is the way to give people, particularly youngsters, a passion for guitar playing.
Don’t buy an acoustic until you check out Seagulls line. Solid wood, hand crafted with Godin electronics. Sweet, sweet sound that I would compare with ANY upper end guitar. Reasonably priced as well. Wouldn’t trade my 10 year old SWS Maritime series for another. Superior right out of the box. Worth your consideration
About 10 years ago, I tried out a couple of Seagulls (I don't remember which models) at a music store in Mesa, Arizona. I would have definitely bought one if a new guitar was in the plan at the time.
You got what it takes to pass on the spirit of playing, it's supposed to fun, and you make learning fun! God has given you a gift brother, don't forget to thank him daily for it. Keep real, keep it simple, the world needs this. By the way, I play 6 string Ibenez, always liked the tone it gives. Fender electric. Always fun to learn something new! Thanks brother
I play a 1964 Jose Oribe Constructor Classical. I have yet to hear one better. The Jose Oribe guitars are said to have the best sound you can get. I have to say even I sound good on this guitar. My father in law gave it to me when he passed at 93. I didnt pay much attention to it as I have several guitars. But I picked it up one day and to my surprise it was still in tune. When I strummed it wow what a beautiful crisp clear sound. It was impressive so I looked at the certificate inside the guitar. Ilooked the name up andJose is one of the finest luthiers in the world. That explains the sound....
Breedlove is a highly underrated company. I have a Breedlove, pro series, 6 string acoustic electric… Breedlove acoustic electric bass Breedlove pro series 12 string. The sound coming out of all of them is incredible, especially the 12 string… the sound is like nothing I ever heard before… Almost sounds like an acoustic guitar on steroids in Dolby surround. I’ve become a huge fan of acoustic electric bass guitars over the past few years. Simply because, I can pick it up and start playing some random notes, come up with a catchy bass line and build the song around it. Not having to plug-in and the ability to walk around the neighborhood with it at 3 AM and create the beginnings of a song to be. Same thing goes for the six and 12 string acoustics. Just an overall joy to play. The same or better quality than a Martin at a fraction of the cost. I actually sold my Martin 12 string after playing the Breedlove… It just had an overall better, more dynamic and fuller sound. With incredible low end, nice, mid range, and a sharp, high-end, without any twang or tinge. It just sounds like you’re playing three or four guitars at a time. Heavenly is the only way I can describe it. Same thing with the six string and ‘slapping da bass, mon’. LoL. definitely a great video. Keep doing what you do and enjoy every second of every day, like it’s your last.
I've got a mahogany Breedlove passport I picked up about 10 years ago and it's been a trooper. Maybe not the biggest sounding guitar or lightest, but it plays well. It's now my primary half-step guitar.
I had a 94 Guild True American gifted to me. I had to dress the frets but it was then the nicest acoustic I had ever played. Tragically I gave it back when my brother in law asked
I play a guitar from Isle of Skye guitars. Dan McCrimmon is an artisan out of Denver Colorado. I have two of his guitars. I could not be happier. They sound huge with great tone. Everyone asks when they hear me play.
I purchased a used OM18 Authentic 1933, built in 2012, Adirondack. Use Martin Light strings. Purchased on Reverb about 4 months ago, It worked out great love the tone. Thanks for the lessons!
I've been playing for about 25 years, and I recently bought a Fender Paramount PD Series Acoustic. It's a moderately priced guitar (~$900 - $1000) that plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. The only drawback is that the electric components are on the cheap side, but overall it's a good bang for your buck.
Great doable methodical tutorial wothout a ton of confusing music theory for we lesser mortals. Much appreciated and looking forward to more of the same. Cheers 👍
I've played for over 50 years and am buying the new REVOLUTIONARY Martin SC 10e. Amazing guitar just look it up new design and the most comfortable acoustic ever invented
I have been trying to learn Guitar for about 8 months now. My first guitar was a kit guitar from Amazon I wouldn’t recommend it. I wish someone had told me back them to buy a decent Guitar either new or second hand. I have since bought a Taylor Electro Acoustic 114e. It’s absolutely stunning. The older it gets the better it will get.
My favourite at the moment is my old blueridge d40 that i bought 30 years ago. My daughter had been away with it and prior to that it had sat for 10 years in a case. She brought it back, i put new strings on it and wow, i didnt remember it being this good....
Just brought my first guitar after several years and had a look at your video and reminds me of my teacher and how he taught me,, going to subscribe bud 😊😊
I'll american-made breedlove koa top mahogany back and sides concerto shape cut away Acoustic Electric ausome guitar with a bright beefy sound, love it. Concerto is a better shape guitar than the dreadnought easier to hold and strum I also have a Martin d15 cutaway full mahogany loud beefy bassy sound. I've owned and played a lot of guitars 🎸 for over 50 years
I'm not rich or famous but I have played a lot of concerts uisng the Epiphone FT-100 and the crowd seemed to love it and I loved not paying a huge amount of money that my friend that plays his Martin did. A long time ago I used to tell my wife how I heeded better gear to sound better until a friend of my came over and made my guitar sing... she looked at me afterwards and said... What was that you said about needing better gear? I ate humble pie and then decided to work harder on playing.
I own a Yamaha FS-TA "Trans-Acoustic". A friend has the jumbo size and I was so impressed, I had to get one, but didn't have the money, so I bought mine which was somewhat cheaper and a "dreadnought" size. Play and sound are terrific, especially with Elixir strings.
I am between intermediate and beginner. My first guitar was a Yamaha A1N. About a year ago I purchased a Zager 900ce guitar. It's a 2000.00 guitar that plays as well if not better than a double priced Martin guitar.
I have a couple acoustics, but the one I seem to pick up the most seems to be my Tanglewood parlour size guitar. It just feels at home in my hands... 😃
Totally appreciate you doing this Tony..........straightforward demo of how to brighten up otherwise mundane chords.......especially for people writing songs about....anything really .......subscribed and liked, thanks again.
I see this post was one year ago, but. Thanks for that , I'll try to play it. On guitars, I'm 73 and have only owned four acoustics in my life. At 14 years old some old "F" holes beat up. I thought it sounded good. I lost interest for a long time and about 21 years ago saw TV ads on the Esteban Classical, $99, so I got it. I thought it sounded good, my playing improved. About 16 years ago I saw a used Taylor Big Baby in a pawn shop for $300, sounded great I thought, bought it. Improved my playing greatly. Then about 13 years ago I wanted to put electronic pick-up in my sound hole, stopped in at a local guitar shop. The guy told me how crappy that Taylor was, not real wood. He took a Martin DRSGT off the rack and handed it to me, said try it. Holy cow, I got a head rush, the most amazing sound I have ever heard, bought it, $2200. Wife was not happy about that but I can play over 100 songs pretty dang good now. Playing my Martin feels me with so much joy.
I didn't have more than $600 to spend on an acoustic guitar. I looked at quite a few guitars in that price range. I ended up buying a Breedlove concerto guitar. My reason for choosing Breedlove is they used all real quality wood that you would find on a lot more expensive guitars. They don't use laminate at all it's all solid spruce and mahogany and it is built with quality trust design. I fell in love with the sound it produces it's action and the electronics are tried and proven performers. Like any guitar they all have their own personality their own feel so try out a couple at minimum. I found my guitar after trying 2 other Breedlove. I went to guitar center for a low end Gibson or a Yamaha maybe a fender I didn't even know Breedlove existed they just stuck out to me and I'm glad. I will be buying a 12 string Breedlove in the future. My Epiphone 12 string is like playing a 2x4 with bailing wire for strings 😂 I use heavey gauge strings and the action is high. Guitar ways a ton for an acoustic it's just not worth fixing it.
I enjoy your videos, thank you in 2018 I bought a new martin 000 15 .I have played it ever since . I have had it twice to a luthier for a truss rod tweak ....it's a great guitar
Love your videos. I have a Martin Seth Avett that is awesome! A little less ornate, but still awesome is the cs35-11. Both have beautiful tone woods and separate themselves from the pack.
I’d give my vote to a Yamaha Transacoustic LLTA… I’ve had well over 50 guitars… and this is the one I kept and will never sell. Just a wonderful strummers guitar… with onboard reverb and chorus… no amp required… but plug it in and it sounds awesome!!
I play on a 1991 Takamine G330 . I love the neck. I've never really enjoyed the feel of any other guitar. I got it as my first guitar in 1991 and have ordered some used G330's online to knock around with. They are consistently good for a cheap guitar.
Always enjoy your lessons b/c they give me so many ideas for working through other licks, chord locations, etc. I really enjoy grabbing my acoustic and just messing around with blues chords, progressions, rhythms, licks, fills, etc. Fundamentally, your lessons are great for beginners but they also provide a lot of ideas for intermediate guitarists as well. I also like the length and the focus. Usually one to three concepts and in and out in less than 12 minutes.
It's not for everyone, but if you find yourself "after hours" without an amp, the "LAG Hyvibe" is a lot of fun. Self-amplifying electro-acoustic. Built in (fully customisable) effects, bluetooth, looper, tuner, metronome.... Great for playing a backing track from TH-cam or any media (via your phone) to play over the top of! (Punching way above my weight with it, but a good fun "toy") Cracking little lesson, thanks for that! :)
I discovered Maton and Cole Clark. My favourite one right now I play is the Angel 2. All Australian sustainable woods. The pick-up system is very good too.
I’ve played a Crafter bowl-back (FX-550EQ) for many years and love the way it cuts through… but my ‘goto’ acoustic is an old Walden D350 that I put ball-end classical strings on - and I play that one about 70% of the time - for jazz and blues!
Thank you! very helpful. re guitars: Ive owned and played many over the years. By far the best I have (sound quality and playability) is my 2013 Martin OM-28V. Love the modified V neck shape and the punch and tone makes it a very versatile instrument.
I recently bought a Martin SC13e Special and I love it! It is so easy to play and sounds great plugged in and unplugged. I wish you luck in finding your next guita, and thank you for the awesome lessons!
8:22 Thanks a million, your lessons are brilliant. Love them. I play a Lag four seasons summer edition, French made Guitar and love it. Sorry, did I say "play" meant to say "try" to play. 😅🙏
I play my 1994 Martin Sigma left handed, (I have another sigma that was my mothers from 2003). The 94 has low action with standard Martin strings 10s. The other and my 99 Mexican strat, have medium action and better for slide. The 94 Martin is my favorite guitar, although I am sure a nice Gibson, Takamine, Taylor, or custom guitar would be great, I love my little cheap Korean assembled, DM-4 Martin Sigma.
Great lesson thanks Tony. I have a Furch Yellow Gc-CR which is lovely. Totally I’d say 70% Taylor/30% Martin so bright but not too bright and loud but not too loud.
Why did I pick a Martin D-28: In 1974, I was at a small party where there were musicians playing in a circle. This one fellow had a D-28, and I thought it sang so sweetly (I loved the volume, tone, harmonics, and resonance so much, I thought it was the best guitar I'd ever heard - I was on my first guitar, a 1972 Alarez Yari...not bad). I asked him what was that guitar he was playing. I'd heard of it, and knew many professionals I admired had one (John Prine, Steve Stills, Neil Young, etc.). He could tell I was drooling and asked me if I wanted to play it (DUH?!). I wasn't very good (still not in 2023), but I strummed my favorite 3 chords (G, C, D). Then I strummed my second favorite 3 chords (E, A, B), and these were probably the only others I knew at the time. I still clearly remember what I would later learn was an Out of Body Experience (OBE); My eyes rolled up into my head as it went back, and my breathing got deep and slow. I felt the bones in my arms vibrate and that feeling slowly traveled up and branched out through my shoulders, up my neck and into my ears. As my eyes opened slowly, but not completely, with droopy eye lids, I felt stoned, and took a deep, slow breath then exhaled deeply: I was in Love. It became my desire to someday own a Martin D-28. This was something not realized until my second wife and our 20th wedding anniversary, when she gave me my most valued possession: a 2020 Martin D-28. The answer to your question: It was my first OBE. Ahhhhh, Life is Good! Now...if i can just learn to play it.
I have a Furch Blue OMc- CM....It has a beautiful clarity and sustain....really lovely sound and well priced (and many thanks for your ideas and inspiration)
Well said
So true like when your boyfriend then says " f--king AWESOME play some Stevie Ray!!
Blueridge BR-180 2007 Natural just bought this. I’ve played for 50 years, played them all , had most of them. This is the prettiest, and nicest sounding acoustic I’ve ever played .
No one has shorter impressive lessons like you bro
Thanks so much man!
Mark Zabel has same concept for videos on electric
Your a breath of fresh air Tony thanks Colin 😊
First time I have ever watched a video once and actually am able to play it by the end of it. Thank you!
Aw that’s great! I’m out are very welcome 🤘
Nicely played. I’ve been playing for about 25 years on & off . Haven’t played at a gig for about 10 - 15 years. You have got me inspired again. And bagged yourself a new subscriber 👍
Eastman E20d tc. An amazing guitar for the priced. Best acoustic guitar hands down for the money.
For what it’s worth nothing beats my Taylor for bright, shiny expressive voice, my Martin has the most amazing bass and Resonance , but the perfect hybrid between the two is my new Gibson G 200 e c hybrid series with a single cutaway. What a cool lesson! I’m an intermediate and appreciate the pace and explanation you provide. Subscribed!
Gibson J-45. A great addition to that D-28.
I Play a 1994 Yamaha FG401 and have just been given a Simon & Luthier Spruce by a pal. It is beautiful.
I am 70 years old this April and still play a j-45, plus a Gretsch or two and a dented fender with a crack on occasion, The Gibson j-45 is my go for at home where it is safe from harm, enjoy the other two when in the studio, also like the acoustics of a dented fender with a crack on the back for the road, a travel anywhere guitar and loves it.

aye and IM 60 and absolutely loving it, (bloody ageist, LOL)
Don’t buy an acoustic until you check out Seagulls line. Solid wood, hand crafted with Godin electronics. Sweet, sweet sound that I would compare with ANY upper end guitar. Reasonably priced as well. About 10 years ago, I tried out a couple of Seagulls (I don't remember which models) at a music store in Mesa, Arizona. I would have definitely bought one if a new guitar was in the plan at the time.
Seagulls are made by Godin. They have several brands
Been playing my Seagull for about 10 years too… still love it
It’s amazing what can be achieved with just one chord and a few notes. Good stuff, cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👍
Cheers aussie 🍻🤙
Cole Clark An2. Just bought mine… unbelievable guitar.
My go to guitar is the best I've owned and I've been playing and buying guitars since the 60's - Martin Johnny Cash Signature D-35. Sound of the gods.
Ooooh you are speaking my language my friend! The D35 is what I’m most inclined to right now 😍 love the rich sound
After playing many different guitars, my pick is Martin 000-28 EC signature. I love the size, sound, it’s so romantic.
Lovely guitar, I went for the standard as I prefer a slimmer neck
Nice. I can learn this. I'm 60, and picked up my first guitar 4 years ago. This is what I was looking for. Thanks.
You got what it takes to pass on the spirit of playing, it's supposed to fun, and you make learning fun! God has given you a gift brother, don't forget to thank him daily for it. Thank you so much man. I am incredibly grateful indeed and comments like this make my day so thank you for taking the time to write 🎸
Any Larrivee, rosewood or mahogany, is my choice. There is something mistic in their sound and the playbility is great
I play a 1964 Jose Oribe Constructor Classical. I have yet to hear one better. The Jose Oribe guitars are said to have the best sound you can get. I have to say even I sound good on this guitar. My working guitar is an ovation with flat wound strings on, do it all , take it anywhere. My at home messing about guitar is an ibanez parlour.
Always wanted an ovation!
I recently got a Breedlove and I think it is the best acoustic I have played.

I have a Breedlove as well. Love it, incredibly stable tuning.
Martin 000-28
I had a 94 Guild True American gifted to me. I had to dress the frets but it was then the nicest acoustic I had ever played. Tragically I gave it back when my brother in law asked
Taylor. Hands down my favorite acoustic to play.
You need to try a real guitar like a Martin then
Have a look at the Furch range. Absolutely incredible instruments
They have a good story also.
I play a guitar from Isle of Skye guitars. Dan McCrimmon is an artisan out of Denver Colorado. I have two of his guitars. I could not be happier. They sound huge with great tone. Everyone asks when they hear me play.
I am playing a old ovation with fiberglass back, wonderful tone.
My early 90’s Martin m-36 is my favorite acoustic I have ever had. And so comfortable to play for hours with no shoulder strain
Humming bird guitars are awesome. I hope to buy one one day.
I’m a Martin guy. GPC 16E. Triple 000 cutaway with great electronics onboard.
Me too, got 2 000’s so after a dread, probs D35 :)
I purchased a used OM18 Authentic 1933, built in 2012, Adirondack. Use Martin Light strings. Purchased on Reverb about 4 months ago, It worked out great love the tone. Thanks for the lessons!
Very cool! Thanks for watching! 😀
Great teaching,You made it easy for me to learn this little riff. Thank you very much. We need more good talent like you....👍🙏🏼🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Love them guitars ❤️👍
Great doable methodical tutorial wothout a ton of confusing music theory for we lesser mortals. Much appreciated and looking forward to more of the same. Cheers 👍
Collings OM1A JL ....... Absolutely incredible guitar... Pricey, but the good stuff always costs more...
Oooh yeah! Never played on of them! Could be dangerous! 😬
I've played for over 50 years and am buying the new REVOLUTIONARY Martin SC 10e. Amazing guitar just look it up new design and the most comfortable acoustic ever invented

New strings feel like new bed sheets 😀 need to try one of them out :)
They are Chinese but sound amazing I think
Martin 000-28 I keep thinking a small parlour would be nice but the concert sounds so great!
Just brought my first guitar after several years and had a look at your video and reminds me of my teacher and how he taught me,, going to subscribe bud 😊😊
That's awesome! Thank you very much! Keep having fun, man!
I've owned and played a lot of guitars 🎸 for over 50 years
I have slowly worked my way up to a Taylor GS. Amazing guitar, beautiful sound they are not cheap but worth it.
Hmmm that’s a good shout!
I don't know how I get here, but so far your lessons are the best. Easy proper explanation for beginners and intermediate. You hook me up. Thank you
I only have three guitars and my go to is my Martin D35 that I have had for 45 years. I wouldn't trade it or sell it for any reason....!!!
Just got my HD 35 🥰 man!! Unbelievable!
I'm not rich or famous but I have played a lot of concerts uisng the Epiphone FT-100 and the crowd seemed to love it and I loved not paying a huge amount of money that my friend that plays his Martin did. Love my fender newporter. Low action makes it easy to bar for my smaller hands.
I love Gibsons, but my go-to is 1998 Taylor 310 CE I bought new. All the divots were lovingly made.
I love my Alvarez ag70wcear. Great tone and easy on the pocketbook
My go to acoustic is my Hagstrom Dagra, awesome guitar great sound
I have a couple acoustics, but the one I seem to pick up the most seems to be my Tanglewood parlour size guitar. It just feels at home in my hands... 😃
Totally appreciate you doing this Tony..........straightforward demo of how to brighten up otherwise mundane chords.......especially for people writing songs about....anything really .......subscribed and liked, thanks again.
It took about half an hour to learn it and now I can't stop! Fantastic lesson. Thank you.

I play on a 1991 Takamine G330 . I love the neck. I've never really enjoyed the feel of any other guitar. I got it as my first guitar in 1991 and have ordered some used G330's online to knock around with. They are consistently good for a cheap guitar.
GWL cheap guitar but after I've done some changes I was impressed with the tone. Cheap but it is a keeper...
Very cool! Thank you very much! I appreciate your feedback. 🤗 Keep up the excellent work, my friend! It sounds like you're making great progress! 🙌🏻
Thanks! I recommend purchasing a Larrivee guitar. L-09 model.
(Punching way above my weight with it, but a good fun "toy")
Cracking little lesson, thanks for that! :)
Just caught this, Taylor T5z, so much you can do with it and so playable.
Reaaly enjoy your ‘right to the point’ teaching style. I have a Martin OOO-15M. Amazing sound esp for a smaller guitar.
Yes I’ve had a ooo15 for a couple of years now, great guitar.
I discovered Maton and Cole Clark. My favourite one right now I play is the Angel 2. All Australian sustainable woods. The pick-up system is very good too.
My Eastman 20om is my best guitar that I’ve used so far
Alvarez MDA models. Beautiful sound, looks, and feel...
As soon as some online "teacher" starts with "put this finger here in this fret and this finger..." I'm out.
😭😭😭😭😭 s👋
I’ve played a Crafter bowl-back (FX-550EQ) for many years and love the way it cuts through… but my ‘goto’ acoustic is an old Walden D350 that I put ball-end classical strings on - and I play that one about 70% of the time - for jazz and blues!
Thank you! very helpful. re guitars: Ive owned and played many over the years. By far the best I have (sound quality and playability) is my 2013 Martin OM-28V. Love the modified V neck shape and the punch and tone makes it a very versatile instrument.
very enjoyable, you lessons really are hleping me wiht my arthitis in my righ thand, to the pint wherie can only really strum
Thanks, Tony. I love this riff. Gonna show my brother.
Martin OM21 (2004) With DR Sunbeams, they have a round core and make all the difference in the world on this guitar.
Sounds good! I’ll try to get my hands on one to try!
I play a 1999 Jean Larrivee - made in Vancouver. I love it.
Ooooh sounds nice!
This lick is perfect for the intro of a friend's song, from the 90's! Now I can cover it cooler! Thanks so much!
Recently purchased a Yamaha APX600. Compact and has a great sound
I play an Ibanez exotic wood series. The body is a book Ash. Look and sounds spectacular.
I also have a Gretsch G5222.
Yer man. How your teaching is the best I've seen anywhere. You have the magic formula. 👍
I have a Taylor 818e. Love it
You’re the man Tony 😊 can’t wait to try it out, I have fun with the e minor scale you showed all the time now!!
Thanks so much! that means a lot man! 🙌 Just keep having fun my friend!
Nice uncomplicated tricks that even I can try. thumbs up.
Just purchased a Martin D42 Modern Deluxe. Love it.
Great lesson thanks Tony.
I have a Furch Yellow Gc-CR which is lovely. Totally I’d say 70% Taylor/30% Martin so bright but not too bright and loud but not too loud.
Thats great. Makes me want a guitar again. Got impatient and quit learning because I'm stiff jointed
Thank you so much! 🫵💪🤘👍
Martin guitar, will always hold resale value and is a quality top guitar 😊
Amazing about time I got my act together as this was just the best. 😊
Why did I pick a Martin D-28:
In 1974, I was at a small party where there were musicians playing in a circle.
