Mesh jackets are an absolute Godsend for summertime in OZ. You actually feel like a rider instead of a fecking pizza oven! I have a "Dainese air frame d1 jacket" which is ideal for me, but I'm very impressed with your preferred choice of mesh jacket and the way it has chest protection! Fortunately I never really feel the heat on my legs, so I still get around with my "Saint Unbreakable" armored jeans, no matter how hot it gets. I never knew that you can also get mesh gloves, that will be something I defo have to look into! I've also "have/had" the same Denali Kakadu Tent, and like you, found having to insert the framing poles through the tent sleeves F**king frustrating!. Very clever of you and your partner to come up with your new clip system! I've now upgraded to a " Naturehike 3 Season Mongar 2 Person" tent". It has 2 massive side entries! It's also completely free standing and has a very clever ground sheet system It weighs in (fully packed) at only 2.1Kg. It also uses a "clip system" not a slide poles through the tent sleeves (do my head in!) system. Looking forward already to you next vid! Cheers Sean for the solid comment 😎👍 I'm loving the mesh jacket, essential for summer hey and side entry tents! so much better and as for the pole sleeves ! Painfull !! Cheers 😎
Great setup. I was surprised to see that you don't carry a gas stove and gas or a trangia cooking setup for those few places like in National parks where you are not allowed to have a fire ( That maybe a QLD thing ? ). I like the look of the Komine Mesh Jacket, I might look at getting one for myself after watching your review of them and the gloves. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
You guys are tougher in heat then me....lol The Komine is the coolest adv jacket if ever worn 👍 But, if you standing still, you'll still get hot. Catch ya
If you are going to hanging rock, I would suggest going south east from there to Barry station and then on to Glenrock, it is one of the nicest dirt roads and 20 creek crossings I've seen in the area. The roads are called Barry Road and turns into Hunter Road.
Watch for rain or dew dripping inside the inner when the fly is open - very similar tent without drip problem is Spinifex Conway 2 - aud$40 at anaconda
Been doing other crap for a couple of months so looks like I've got some of your rides videos to catch up on. How's the sizing on the jacket Phil. I'm always reluctant to order clothing online. If I were you I would give Chaffey Dam a miss and go to Sheeba Dams just east of Nundle. A much nicer campground. It's where I always camp on my way north.
Hi Coobye, with the jacket I ended up messaging Zarkie direct, spoke to a fella called Scott, told him my height and weight, and he done the rest. Sent up a jacket with an invoice. If it was the wrong size (which it wasn't) just send it back and get the next size up. Here's a link anyway 👍 www.zarkie.com.au/contact/?v=b870c45f9584
Your new gear looks good, but you didn't mention riding boots. I know work boots are comfy and good to walk in but they offer no protection in an accident. I came off my bike with cheap road bike boots and had the bike land on my foot and it's still not right 8 or 9 weeks later. I now have a pair of motocross boots with heaps of protection. DO yourself a favour mate and get some.
Some good ideas there Phil. I carry a flint & striker as a back up. The bush saw is a good piece of kit for firewood, I always pack one. I actually pack some pieces of fire starters in a berocca tube. I don’t recall having seen you having tea or coffee mate, do you take a mug/cup?
Hey Ron. Happy with the saws weight, size and cutting ability so far - glad I bought one. I have a flint and steel, but struggle to get a fire going with it. Spayed Bushmans on some dry leaves / grass, and then it worked...lol As for coffee or tea, not really my thing mate - unless it's really cold 👍
I know the camping spot you use at Bundarra my home town, no I wont annoy you, but just to let you know, it is roo shooting season out here now, so you might hear some shots around close to you. You will be safe, but if you hear it you will know what's going on.
Don't think that brand is available at Sydney stores making selecting the right size for an average height fellow with a big belly fitting a nightmare. Is the jacket size the slim EU cut style or the more baggier USA size or the Asian sizes? I typically fit into L or XL depending on the cut style but there are brands where the XXL can be zipped up but the shoulders are right over the edge.
Hey mate, the best idea is email or ring Scott at Zarkie - they're the importers into Aus. I just said my weight and height and he sorted out the best jacket size for me, then posted it up. Cheers www.zarkie.com.au/contact/?v=b870c45f9584

Awesome set up! It’ll be a great trip, can’t wait to see it!
Good one Phil, I like the idea of the MX pants for summer.
I like that jacket thanks for the review Phil
Good one Phil ... tent mods and new frying pan looks great.
The clips on the tent is a brilliant idea save a lot of stuffing around threading the poles 👍👍
Sooooo much easier to set up Johnny 👍

About time you retired the old fry pan and holder lol. Loving your stuff
🤣 Even I was embarrassed by the old frying pan....lol Cheers mate 👍

Thought the same thing. Coming into summer a lot of places will have fire bans so wont be able to cook on open fires.
Hi Danny. Very rare you can't have a small cooking fire down here mate. Probably during Fire Bans is about it 👍
Not sure about the pants, but the jacket sure does look good :-)
Hi Phil
Videos ALWAYS FANTASTIC 👍👍🏍🙏
but Never CONGRATULATE you on all the bloody Links and maps you Post.
Mate THANK YOU so MUCH 👍🏍🙏
Thanks Bugman! 👌
nice alteration
Cheers Joe 🍻
Great modification to the tent, feels like that should be a design change by Denali. Gear looks good, it is getting bloody hot up here in QLD.

Love ya kA bar spork mate .you could probably cut fire wood with that little sucker 😂
It's a ripper Tod 💪😎 Thanks mate 👍

I considered doing Barrys Road and the creeks again but will run out of time this ride. Definitely going to do it again this summer! Cheers mate 👍
Thanks Phil
No worries Peter 👍

Yep, dew would drip there ( if door was open) for sure . Ill close it t night👍
@@MidCoastAdventures I don't work for them, but I recently bought another Conway 2 for a DR-Z mate - at $40 you can't go wrong

yeh feeding tent poles in a sleeve is pain.

Mate, you should be in product development with ease of use thinking like that! Nice work.
I don't want any job, Vern ...lol But the tent is aooooo much easier to live with now 👍
Great looking & functional jacket. But I was just wondering, are there any pockets in the jacket at all?
Hi Marc, yeah it's got 3 pockets - 2 on the sides, and a smaller chest pocket. The sides one's easily hold a wallet or phone 👍
Hi phil, like the look of that jacket, you look about my size so what size jacket did you get
Hi Greg. It's a 2XL. I'm 84 kg, 5.10 ft 👍
I know the camping spot you use at Bundarra my home town, no I wont annoy you, but just to let you know, it is roo shooting season out here now, so you might hear some shots around close to you. You will be safe, but if you hear it you will know what's going on.
