The fact that Geoff and Layne formed the OG group in 1997..... they're living out their teen years. Why can I imagine baby Geoff acting like this on the stage in high school, LOL!!!! Eli's guttural scream really caught me by surprise. Holy crap, I kinda want them to do a hard metal cover now. They did Metallica, but I mean something HARD. Eli would kill it.
Omar's older brother EJ is in Voctave. This is the first collaboration with Warframe. Their earlier Sleeping in the Cold Below is what prompted Warframe to contact them, almost immediately!!
Storyline is VoicePlay loves the music from Warframe....when they did their cover of "Sleeping in the cold below" video.....the creators of Warframe saw it and reached out to VoicePlay to cover this song as well....Warframe provided the artwork, but let VoicePlay do their own thing creatively......>^^
Yeah, you definitely need to see their old live Boyband Medley 🤣 My husband has nothing but good things to say about Warframe, if a random internet stranger's opinion is worth anything 🤣🤣
Check out a live version of their Boy Bands in Five Minutes, the one that's 11 years old. They identify each guy at the end - The Heart Throb, The Bad Boy, The Old Guy, The Shy One, and The Guy Who Leaves To Go Solo - Tomorrow. It's hysterical!!
1999 had mostly 4:3 aspect ratio, 16:9 only started to come in later. 'Sleeping in the cold below' wasn't a colab with WARFRAME, they 'just' saw it at the game studio and said to themself that they gotta have these guys to do something for the game, so they did this sponsored this one. Also, Happy New Year!
What’s even more amazing is how much VP looks like the On Lyne boy band. Eli’s character has hair but other than that it’s scary good. And this is before makeup! Look them up. Oh, and be prepared to have this song stuck in your head for at least a week. They were all phenomenal but I gotta say Layne is the GOAT here. That percussion is crazy!!
Okay, I just have to say you are absolutely utterly adorable, I don't care how often you pause. Your reactions are so charming and refreshingly upbeat as you talk about it, but then add to the way you just ROCK OUT DANCE in your chair and thrash like you're at a concert, is SO bloody cute.
Thanks for this reaction to VoicePlay. I do believe that VoicePlay can cover anything. That's Omar's big brother, E.J. Cardona, who is in Voctave. E.J. has collaborated with VoicePlay too. I don't think that Warframe collaborated with VoicePlay before this one. My understanding is that the Warframe developers heard VP's cover of "Sleeping in the Cold Below" from their game and contacted VP soon after about this opportunity.
This is so perfect 90's boybands vibes. Growing up then i turn into a freaking fangirl again. Laynes arrangement on this is just perfect 🥰 Happy New Year everybody🎉
E.J. Cardona is Omar's older brother who is in Voctave AND has collabed with VoicePlay for Go the Distance and I Cant Make You Love Me. ... Omar was on The Voice, has solo stuff, collabs with VoicePlay. EJ and Omar both are also involved with Hawkmoon Creative which has a bunch of bands that do entertainment here in the Orlando area , cruise ships, and sometimes travel too. They sometimes sing together. Omar JUST moved to NY though in the past month.
Yay! I got to watch now. I agree this song is awesome! Geoff's bass is phenomenal and mixes well with Layne's beatboxing and the voices of Eli, Cesar and Omar just finish it off so well. Eli with that scream was impressive too. I tried warframe out because of this song by Voiceplay because they made it look more interesting than I thought it would be and now I play whenever I can! It's a great game ^^ Great reaction, thanks again DJ :D
DJ. A fair heads up that if you do get back into Warframe because of this, in order to get to the 1999 content, you will have about 100 hours worth of content to go through. They made everything with the 1999 update locked behind a quest near “endgame” level stuff that takes several hours and actually gives you a trigger warning before starting it. Digital extremes is really good for that and they really care about their player base. As always, love your reactions and a happy new year to you from the US
Rather than Omar (who has featured with VoicePlay quite a few times), his brother EJ Cardona is the fellow who's in Voctave. (Fun fact: one of the American Sirens is EJ's wife) EJ has also featured with VoicePlay a couple of times- they are from quite a talented family. And this song is actually the first sponsored partnership with Warframe- they saw VoicePlay's cover of Sleeping In the Cold Below and were impressed enough to reach out to them about doing this collab. And speaking of Warframe 1999, from what I understand of it, you more or less nailed who the guys are representing: an infected boy band, who are probably going to be the boss battle at the end. I was never much of a gamer, so until I started listening to VoicePlay and all their video game music covers, I had no idea how rich the music is from those sources. Now my appreciation is much greater, and as a matter of fact, my music prodigy nephew is planning to go into that precise field (as well as game coding), so I hope VoicePlay keeps making music long enough to hopefully cover some of his music one day.
I am not a gamer at all, but I have now downloaded a number of soundtracks to games because of these guys. I also resubscribed to Netflix to watch Arcane due to their cover of Enemy. Best of luck to your nephew. I have a nephew who, when younger, would say he was going to design video games and we all laughed because that’s the dream of every kid. But Pete went on to study both computer programming and his love of art. About 10 years ago, before he graduated from the San Francisco Academy of the Arts, he interviewed with ILM and was hired by George Lucas and was able to go to his Memorial Day party out at Skywalker Ranch🤯 (Our family is full of SW fans.) . He’s since gone on to Pixar and also Electronic Arts where he works on some of the Lego based video games. So tell your nephew to hang in there even when it gets tough. Dreams can come true!
This was worth waiting 25 years for! 😛 Perfect choice for New Year's Eve. I would have watched the premiere, but it dropped at exactly midnight in my timezone. Great reaction, great insights! I'm so sad people have been sleeping on this amazing song due to everyone being in x-mas release mode. I've had it stuck in my brain ever since the first time I heard it. (Maybe it's the infestation, maybe it's just VoicePlay's magic touch and 101% committment.) 😁Teenage Miran would have LOVED this too!
Amazing song from Voiceplay! What a way to start the New Year! Thank you DJ for this reaction, great choice for today...and Happy New Year! I hope 2025 brings you all the new experiences and joys you could hope for! #HerdLove
I use voice to text because my fingers are so large and clumsy. When I said “War Frame” I thought it was hilarious my phone “corrected” it to Warf frame!
I feel like our Omar collabs might be lessened now that he and his family have moved to NYC. Hopefully not, I know he seems to travel ++++ for work so maybe if he’s in the Orlando area he might pop in for more collabs but maybe not as often as when he lived there.
Thank you for doing a reaction to this song--so enjoyable. The game seems fun (trying it for the first time & trying to figure things out); I"d suggest trying it again. I wish all the best happiness for you in 2025. 😄
@DJ_410 Omar's older brother EJ is the one in Voctave. They're both insanely good. This must be a dream come true for Cesar and Omar to, basically, be part of an Official 90's Boy Band now and get to sing an Official Legit 90's Boy Band Song. Let's be honest, no offense to whoever the original artists are, VoicePlay and Omar Cardona are going to the people everyone thinks of when they think of On-Lyne now. As far as VoicePlay's 5th Member, it's J. None. Unless J. None tells them he doesn't want the spot, it's his as they're holding it for him. We'll have to see if, in, like, 2 years when he's done with his Tour of Duty, if J. None wants to come back or not.
VoicePlay’s version is funkier with a better bass line and beats. I’m sure that in-game the original version works. It is more ‘boy band’ to my ear. But then I don’t find that a plus. I was much more into AltRock back then because I found Boy Bands a bit boring. Don’t hate me! But then I wasn’t the target audience. I was 40 in 1999. Boy Bands reminded me of The Partridge Family and the craze over David Cassidy when I was a pre-teen.
Happy new year mister DJ from France. J'adore Voiceplay et j'adore vos commentaires, j'aime vous regarder réagir, c toujours pleins de fougue et hilarant. J'espère vous revoir souvent en 2025.
Warframe still free to play, I encourage to give it another go. If you have any friends that play, that'd be better, always better with friends, especially early on if you have questions. Dont feel scared to ask for help either, the community is usually friendly, and dont mind helping out new Tenno. To sum up 1999 though, Dr. Entrati went back to that time trying to run from the scary void bear he poked, and we have to go back to that time to get find him, get answers, and fix the problem he made. Not in that order, but those are on the To Do list. 100% good update
The one in Voctave is E.J. Cordona, not Omar. E.J. has several collabs with VP ("Go The Distance" and "I can't make you love me" come to mind). And E.J. is married to the blonde girl in The American Sirens; the Sirens did Mele Kalikimaka w/Geoff, and several PattyCake prods. Happy New Year! 💯💯
Omar's Brother EJ is the guy in Voctave! And he is mind-blowing too! Talk about a crap ton of talent concentrated in one family!! I would really love it if Omar joined them. I LOVE his energy in everything he does with them. I listened to the "original" of this song. It totally lacks the energy and intensity of VP's version...check it out and let them know how this version is SO much better!
This is very 2gether vibes, very NKOTB, BSB, NSYNC vibes...but I gotta say OnLyne is a great boy band lmao Geoff=Kevin Omar=Brian Layne=Howie Eli=Nick vibes (?) Cesar=AJ Maybe...what do you think DJ?
I mean, the Infested are space zombies when you get down to it. So, he's not wrong. Warframe's free to play still. The advice I can give? If you can, stay with the game until you can get to the "Second Dream" quest. Things start to unfold with that quest.
Since you were talking about how the guys 'fit' in the Boy Band 'types' you need to watch the precursor to their "Boy Bands in 5 Minutes". I'm not asking for a reaction (although that might be fun) since you did their 'produced' video of it, but you will enjoy the LIVE version they used to do on tour. As a plus, you'll get to hear Tony sing more and more choreo. They also used different songs or singers than in the video you've already seen. But they DO break the guys down into their 'types' at the end, which I find funny. th-cam.com/video/pY4gfC27J-k/w-d-xo.html

Voiceplay as a boyband? All I will say is 4theLove. If you know, you know 🤣🤣🤣
Any bets on DJ absolutely losing it at Eli's first scream near the beginning? Or the last one towards the end. 🤭😜
No, that's a sure thing.
E.J. Cardona is the one that's in Vocative. He's Omar's older brother. E J. has done two videos with VoicePlay.
Eli did the screamo thing!!! LOL Love it! Dude, so 1999!!!
Eli's prosthetics are PURE Klingon. I don't know if that was on purpose, but it's perfect. :)
1999 had mostly 4:3 aspect ratio, 16:9 only started to come in later.

Yup, back in the day, the vids were more square and the best we could get was 720p
As a 80s-90s kid, I can confirm that VoicePlay would have been a truly epic Boy Band. Heck, they still would! Happy New Year all!💙
What’s even more amazing is how much VP looks like the On Lyne boy band. Eli’s character has hair but other than that it’s scary good. And this is before makeup! Look them up. Agreed. Hes adorable
Yep, EJ lives in Voctave - we just get him loaned to us occasionally. Go the Distance (Hercules) and I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt )
So who is going to request that DJ react to Voiceplay's live show boyband medley??
Thanks for this reaction to VoicePlay. I do believe that VoicePlay can cover anything.

Geoff- Kevin

Cesar- Brian
Omar - Nick
Cesar, and brian are both my faves in each band. What a coincidence

I see what you did there with mentioning the infestation.
I love Omar. Have you seen his audition and performances from when he was on The Voice? ❤ Omar’s brother EJ is in Voctave.
Lyricism is actually HUGE in this music.
What a great song to bring in the new year. Happy 2025! Voiceplay does "boy band" so well. Love this cover! Sooo GOOD!
Thank you for your fabulous reactions trough the Year! Beste wishes for 2025! Tanke care...
Amazing song from Voiceplay! What a way to start the New Year!

happy new year to everyone!!
I drew them earlier today. I would love to show you
I was in my 30s and much more into anything rock, when the boyband craze hit, so l never had, what l call 'a boyband phase'...
Until NOW!

To undestand why Warframe goes back to 1999 you gonna need a lot of story context, but it can be summirised as
We end as we began
This is very 2gether vibes, very NKOTB, BSB, NSYNC vibes...but I gotta say OnLyne is a great boy band lmao
Geoff=Kevin
Omar=Brian
Layne=Howie
Eli=Nick vibes (?)
Cesar=AJ
Maybe...what do you think DJ?
If you still a baby Tenno you got a long way to go to get to 1999, but you can probably get there in a month or two if you hit the grind stone
