Hi Andrew, the glides will get better as I get used to the model, I want to try her on the slope soon as well, cheers and just between us I've toyed with putting a small motor on the front, cheers
It was/is Mark, I think a faster wind would keep in going in a straight climb, it's a 12-1 winder so with a bit more uumph from my able assistant hopefully it proves the case, either way the bungee is an instant result, cheers 🙂👍
Nice job Cliff. I'm just in the process of building a Keilkraft Chief that my dad bought as a kit when he retired around 25 years ago, he cut all the parts out but sadly he didn't get to build it. I'm doing it two channel exactly like the one John Woodford restored. I think bungee is how i will launch it.
You've got me thwarted. I don't know what wings twist is. Ive made it to the plan except for rudder and elevator. I will have to call it Jack @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
My mistake Jon, it was the KK Invader John converted to wing twist ... that's where the only moving control surfaces are the entire wings independently controlled for roll and pitch. His KK Chief is a splendid model, tempted myself, are you going for a tissue covering? Here's John's wing twist video which clearly shows what I'm talking about th-cam.com/video/jTPOseKekXI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=377DjSXYohMZcIeL
Some notes on my 100" WS Airtronics Olympic II on a 5/16" bungee launcher, the towhook was adjustable so you could dial in enough up trim so it climbed steeply when it left your hand. At your field in this video, it may have been a little windy for such a small model, but it's also showing that your Slingsby's towhook may be a little too forward. They should climb at about 45 degrees or steeper initially.
That's interest, thanks, yes it was a little too windy I guess, unfortunately the tow hook isn't adjustable on this model, with hindsight I could have put on a double hook, my understanding is a good starting place is 30 degrees in front of the cg ... just a thought, if I move the cg forward it would have the same effect as moving the hook backwards ... may be worth trying? Cheers.
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Yeah that might work, I mean I had to learn how to Hi-start launch by myself as I was teaching myself to fly R/C again after being away from flying for 12 years. The adjustable tow hook on mine was a new concept and I thought the PO had already adjusted it when I first flew it. When I launched it I was taking wild guesses, it could cover a lot of ground upwind without climbing much when the hook was set too far forward. I eventually discovered you needed to set the hook so that with a couple of clicks up trim it would leave your hand and immediately pitch up and climb at a truly shocking angle. First time this happened I thought it was going to stall out while climbing near vertically and smash itself to tiny bits. I think that you might try setting the hook's angle at 30 degrees foreward of the wing's center of lift.
It's a Mobius Gudjon, a small frontal area so ideal for model mounting etc. The only drawback is if the day is light and then dark, the lens can't really cope as seen in this video. You can adjust the settings but it has to be done connected to a pc or laptop but it's not bad for what it is 👍
Well done Cliff and long suffering wife! Lol. What does your bungee consist of? Is it all 1/16th rubber or do you have fishing line attached to the rubber. Cheers.
Hi Bob, she makes sacrifices for our hobby! Yes, that's right, the rubber is attached to a fine piece of fishing line about three to four times the length of the rubber, cheers.
More fun with the little Slingsby Glider Conversion, hand winch or bungee, umm, both were loads of fun?
Looks like a fun day experimenting! Glad it isn't hurt too bad. Easy peasy fix!
A fun time in the park and a lesson learned, but an easy fix as you say Adam 👍🙂
Pretty nice glides! Good you have a helper there ;)

Love it!
I think the bungee is my favourite. Especially as you can to it alone.
A big advantage will be in light slope conditions as well which I'm still looking forward to trying Mike 🙂👍
Great little model. And looks like a great evening for a flight.
It was Bob, a rare occurance these days but even then it was a little bit too much for this model!
Great fun ,no reflection on your good lady but I feel the bungee launch is more controllable

Cliff that really worked well, great flying and exercise. Jeff in LA USA
You can't beat the exercise Jeff lol
Lovely and charming fun. I thought the bungee launches went better, too, Cliff.
Hi Gina, me too, it's surprising how much strength that little wings got as well 👍
Great stuff Cliff, glad it’s a small fix. Looked great on the air thou. Glad the heavens did not open, some crazy black clouds.
Hi Chris, slowing the video down I saw it was my thumb sticking up which caught it but it did leave my hand rather quickly 😜👍
Fun time buddy!
Yes indeed Dutch 🙂

Hi Jon, that's a great story, Dad will be looking over your shoulder I'm sure. I think John's had wing twist control didn't it? Is that your plan?

What kind of camera do you have on your head, or is it your phone?
