  • Today I will be batch painting four boxes of Adeptus Astartes infantry for Warhammer Legions Imperialis. I am painting my space marines as Sons of Horus. Following this scheme will allow you to quickly paint hundreds of epic scale miniatures without fussing over the details so that you can get to playing games as quickly as possible.

Hey man, just wondering why you wouldn't use sons of Horus green on the infantry - seeing as you went to the trouble on the tanks and contemptors?

      Good question!
I was just trying to balance speed and getting a decent result. SoH Green covers pretty poorly on its own, and that gets worse when you thin it to go through the airbrush. Because I needed multiple coats on everything, I had to mix a lot of "airbrushable" SoH and it was slowing me down. Using a speedpaint on the infantry felt like a good trade off to save time.
If I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't do so much in one project.

@@jtswargaming thanks for the reply! Makes sense. I’ve seen a few SoH done with the contrast turquoise- and a few folk have commented that it looks more like alpha legion?
It’s certainly a hard green to get right.
I wonder if a light dry brushing of sons of Horus green over the turquoise would work?

Yea, Terradon Turquoise is slightly more blue than teal...not quite all the way Alpha Legion, but definitely slightly off SoH. I only think it works here due to how tiny the minis are, but there is definitely a slight difference in the final color compared to my SoH method.
If you were aiming to have your infantry match the dreads/tanks more closely, your drybrush idea would probably work; or using a SoH undercoat with TT on top would probably work too. Thinning down the AK Greendark over TT would probably work as well.

how did you glue them to the sticks?

Just a tiny dab of super glue. To pop them off, if you accidently used too much glue, you can use your hobby knife to help without damaging the minis.
