As a Kenyan who grew up in Canada since I was a kid but was born in Kenya, essentially a dual-holder, I can understand your situation. Many international students primarily from India misused this process which is why the government had to take extra measures after many complaints and pressure from the Conservative opposition. There are now calls for a proper vetting process. I am hopeful you will get the PR status but remember, you mentioned once you finished your studies, you would go back so it's best to honor that, many Canadians aren't supportive of individuals with no legal status, and it is even illegal to work without the required permits which can affect your PR application if you violate those terms. My advice is to use the remaining amount as a waiting game comfortably in Kenya considering the GDP per capita and then if approved you can come back. Canada is not the same as it was two decades ago, it is now a very expensive place even for locals and I know of many who want to leave for other cheaper alternatives but you do not want to be homeless, especially during the winter. You now have a recognized advanced education and experience which you can even use on other budget-friendly places. I still believe you can be successful here and honestly hope this goes as planned so you can eventually become a Canadian citizen. There are many resources on the gov of Canada website and you could also refer to the Kenyan High Commission office in Ottawa in the meantime.

Hey Jackie, I’m from Zimbabwe and I came to Canada as a student in 2017 just like you, my story is very similar to you as I also am now out of Status as an Illegal immigrant in Canada, Im so glad I ran into your video, thank you so much for sharing your situation, I was crying on the inside listening to your story as I am in the exact same boat. I really thought I was the only person In this situation. The only thing that’s been keeping me sane is my faith in God so hearing you talk about putting all your trust in God made it really tough for me not to cry while watching this video. I feel my faith in God is the only thing I have left. If you ever want someone to pray, talk or even cry with hit me up lol. I really thought I was the only one in this situation, I’ve kept it a secret from everyone that I know here in Canada. Keep praying and don’t lose hope. Our worldly failures are insignificant when we compare then to the eternal success that we have found in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In Christ we have Triumph!
Stay Blessed and May Gods peace continue to follow you.

    Indian friend here,
I know its difficult to get PR and its sad when you have given some 6-7 years of your life to this country.
Even many of my friends are learning french at this point and i know, its difficult and unrealistic but at this point seeing all the changes in rules and job opportunities, having french would be considered an asset in coming years.
also it boosts the CRS by 60 points if a person manages to get CLB 7 in both English and French.
Also, francophone mobility work permit is another option ig.
this might sound unrealistic but i would say if anyone is in beginning of their work permit and is looking for PR, please do your research, check which skill trade suits you the best and what are your best options
Be strong mentally, PR isn’t a piece of cake anymore.
Our 20s are the best years of our life, and let’s not regret any work we have done so far.

It's because Indians are coming up with "hacks" on how to shoplift and raid grocery stores, as well with general loudness and causing nuisance. As someone who studied abroad as an international student I’m alarmed at the # of students who assume that they are entitled to get residency in the host country …what is this “after giving so much”??? Seriously??!! You came for an education and were also allowed to work. If you’ve not qualified for PR then go home or elsewhere. NO country other than your home country owes you anything.
Also, learning French is unlikely, at this time, to be helpful. Countries are entitled to assess their immigration policies and make changes as they see fit and for the benefit of its legal residents & citizens.
Unfortunately, 🇨🇦created a HUGE mess with its free for all immigration, international students & temporary foreign workers programs and now have to course correct. It’s unfortunate as many “students” especially in India and parts of Africa were sold a lie about how easy it would be to get PR status by unscrupulous immigration consultants, ill-informed friends & family and greedy for profit private D rate so-called colleges.

As a Canadian living abroad, my advice to you is to go home. Regroup, come up with another plan. You can do other jobs in other countries. Maybe teach English or something. I left Canada just about when you were arriving because Canada was stagnating economically and I saw better opportunities abroad. it will only get worse for you. Things are challenging enough when Canada wants immigrants, it's going to be impossible when they become anti-immigrant. You have better qualifications now, put it to use. Also, the people in the comments section criticizing you will find out in a few years that they will have struggles too even with PR so they shouldn't get too judgmental of others. It’s not just bad apples although there have been a lot lately, it’s that there’s been too many people for a decent rate of cultural assimilation. In Toronto, immigrants don’t know our little daily politenesses that make for a smoother day for everyone, like letting people off transit before getting on, and letting elderly and disabled people get on first. So the tensions are rising due to all these little daily annoyances between people.
Then the housing and jobs crises… the food greedflation… and a lot of foreign men don’t realize women are more free to dress here and what we consider to be decent they think of as an excuse for harassment… just too many immigrants for the prevailing culture to be preserved and passed on right now, which also degrades our peace overall as Canadians.
If the infrastructure was in place then Canadian niceness would take over and we would welcome immigrants as we did 30, 20 years ago. But it’s not in place.

Slum lords and employers wreaping the benefits of guv grants and wage subsidies or landlords renting four to a room ) . I am from Uganda 🇺🇬. I can only say that people need to understand what going to live abroad is all about. It is a transition of life from our calm and communal life in Africa to a very fast, aggressive and mean life overseas. I'm telling you social life back home is really great. Abroad be prepared to suffer from loneliness, strange weather, high rent, change of diet, different and more stringent laws. Life abroad is not glittering like gold. The greatest lesson I learned is to keep your immigration status in-check. Yes you need money while abroad but if you violate your immigration status, you become eligible for visa cancelation and sometimes deportation. So in short, you can go from doing 3 jobs, saving enough money, to then violating your status and being finally deported.
Good Luck to anyone traveling to Canada, US, UK, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, Australia etc.

Born & raised Canadian here. I'm wiping the tears of laughter from my face. First of all, the ''dream'' of Canada is just that, nothing but a dream. Our government is great at selling the LIE of the so called Canadian Dream to foreigners. Today's Canada is drastically different than before the pandemic. If you want to struggle to survive, struggle to find a job that pays a living wage, pay almost all your income to rent, eat from a food bank because all your money goes to rent, be miserable, depressed, struggle through 6 months of freezing cold snowy weather than come on over. Rents continuously go higher and higher that you will lose your apartment and have to live in a Trudeau Town, these are our tent cities all over the country. Yes you will live outdoors through our -20, -40, -60 below zero winters. And when the polar vortex comes down from the arctic, you will freeze to death. An honest warning from a Canadian who has come to despite my own country and it's government.

Canada is still a good place, regardless! I have been here for 13 years, and there are things that you need to get right before moving to Canada: Do your research!
    1. Windsor is not the warmest place in Canada. Vancouver is, and I have been there for 12 years. However, it's also the most expensive City in Canada followed by Toronto.
    2. Don't plan to come and work to pay your tuition fees. You are supposed to come with your tuition, then work to pay rent, food, transportation, etc.
    3. Everything else said in the video is correct and expected. You can expect sukuma week in Canada unless an African store or a friend brings them to Canada. When buses are full, it's understandable that you can't get in, and buses ran on schedule.
So, that being said, if you get an opportunity to study in Canada, come. Indians and Chinese know that there is an opportunity here, and they flooded Canada from coast to coast to coast!

To those coming as students next year, please check the list of occupations which will get you a pgwp because rules have changed and some courses won't be eligible for a pgwp.

Also, why were you stuck in a job for 3 years knowing fully well that this employer wasn’t going to sponsor you! They want to cause chaos and anger, not only from canadians born here and unable to find housing and work, but from those like yourself who misunderstood that the study visa in Canada doesn't automatically grant you citizenship, just the ability to say you have a canadian degree. Fact is, there are so many other requirements because canada IS INDEED a desirable place to live. It causes competition. With the right degree, like healthcare you would have an easier pathway because those skills are needed.

Canada that seemed to be the safest and mist guaranteed option is looking more risky. I have a question tho. Why didn't you apply for PR immediately after a year or at most two of working. I heard you don't have to spend tte entire 3 years before you apply. This is coming from someone whos second guessing Canada

Do not be fooled by social media. Cost of living in these countries (Canada, Australia etc) is astronomical. Most and many live paycheck to paycheck. You may earn more, but you have to spend more too and the rat race will swallow you alive.

Try to see if you can get hired as a home support worker (health care assistant), construction worker or nanny. Those are some of the jobs that are in desperate need of workers in Canada and the focus of targeted immigration. I know you said your work permit has expired but I'm thinking there must be a way to get a work permit if one of the employers in these areas is willing to offer you such a job either in Windsor or another community. There are even some Canadian headhunters that have jobs to fill and you can find work through them (you could ask about the work permit issue). You don't have to stay in these jobs forever but to help you get on your feet and figure out next steps. Also as someone else suggested, you should find someone to share costs with even if the situation is not ideal it is temporary to help through the initial challenges. All the best.
