Welcome to Pago Pago. Love your videos, saw your video during your pass through Azores, where im from, i sctually know Genuino Madruga, whos in toyr video. Awesome stuff
Loved this one. Your all's content of character and personalities is what got me started with this channel. The best sailing channel on TH-cam. Whether you are religious or not, going to church is always a good thing. When things get dicey, remaining cool and calm is your best asset. Roxy smiling and wagging her tail at the end meant she approved of your work. Ya'll keep having fun and stay safe. Bill
Real sailors can and do communicate in situations like that. It's the newby and worst of all charterboats and superyachts that start yelling their way out off problems they caused themselves. Great job guys! And Roxy handled it composed and dignified.
Great way to handle the situation. Empathy and understanding for the other party goes a long way in getting things taken care of. It doesn't matter if it's an anchor mishap or a business deal. Always helps.
Simply approaching things in a calm and "professional" mindset let's everyone make better & faster decisions. Good on you guys, great example to set. I'm sure they'll remember the experience and actually look fondly on it moving forward. Especially, when they encounter the next a-hole screaming in an anchorage!
Nice to see you keep a cool head . Seen some act like we know where their anchor is to the inch, plus we all don't have years of sailing Fair Isle a YT station puts a small float where his anchor is. Said it helps some
Y’all rock. Definitely the best approach to handle this situation. Rational instead of emotional. Problem was solved, made new friends, and there was still time for a cold beer 🍻. Thanks for sharing a new experience with us.
OMG 😱, guys. Nice educational episode content. 🎉 🎉 Always approach issues with a calm mind. Seems to work better. 😊 Love that Curtis was prepared to detach the bitter end and tie to a bouy. Used to do that when anchored in Roque Island Harbor, Maine to go for a day trip around the island or up to Cutler to snag some lobster. See you next time. ✨🌊💨🏝️👙🌞✨⚓️
Wow thank you for sharing the Pagopago harbor. It’s always good to see back home. BUT I’m happy where I’m at here in Hawaii lol…. thank you again. Aloha 🤙🏽
Nicely handled. If you ever come to Greece - multiple crossed anchors entangled in all directions are a daily occurrence during the season in some harbours like Hydra or Aegina.
Not several thousand miles approx 2,556 miles thats a big difference. Hawaii to America Samos Thankfully you got achor situation sorted. I guess this is quite common with you yachties. I really like the calm attitude you two showed in this situation. Show's your experience.
Had to double check and look up the defition of "several" which is more than two, but not very many. Regardless, 2500 miles is nothing to sneeze at! Thank you for you rnice comment, we appreciate it!
@SailingSweetRuca I know exactly what you meant when you said several, but I thought, why now give you a little tease on your navigation math? lol. All good. I really enjoy your TH-cam channel safe ⛵️
Anchor bouys are a double edged sword. Great when anchoring in areas where you could loose your anchor, but in crowded or high traffic areas a good way to cause problems, caught in props, rudders, etc.
I am a confirmed atheist but have attended services in many cruising destinations. The singing in the South Pacific is well worth it. I was delivering a yacht across the Pacific and after clearing in to the marquesas at Hiva Oa we went to Tahuata to clean the bottom at Hanamoenoa. I then informed my young crew that we were going to church the next morning at Vaitahu, which they were not keen on at all. The singing at the service was amazing and while chatting to some locals after the service we were invited to attend a wedding that afternoon at which we were treated like visiting royalty. It was an amazing experience which gave us a terrific insight into the local population.
Being calm and even toned doesn't always work. I don't know how many times I have asked people to move because they were too close only to hear them get angry and start yelling.
Not saying you did, but happy to hear of a third method you might have used! Your statement simply implied that there must be another way other than to be polite 🤷♀️
Well done ,, outstanding as always

Thanks for the nice comment! Agree on all accounts!

Spot On
Great lesson here. Yelling and getting angry rarely helps a situation.

Thanks David! This helps so much! Thank you!
You are absolutely correct!! Calm always prevails. You set the tone.

Glad they were your friends :). Thanks for sharing this can definitively happen to anyone so good to see how you dealt with it.
Great video and handling a tough situation with Grace. Says a lot about someone's character.
well done Guys :)
Such patience! 😂
Well done! And, thank you. You are a favorite sailing channel for so many reasons!
Excellent result… tactfully handled. Another excellent episode…
Great lesson keeping one's cool and having proper etiquette.
Cool….calm….. collective. ✌🏼
Well Done!! Absolutely the right attitude. So refreshing.
Some Hakuna Matata and a little concern and foresight goes a long way!
That's Curtis for you!

Thanks for being such a committed follower!
I've only anchored in over 50ft once, and with no windlass it was a chore weighing anchor.

Fa'a Samoa, ta'alofa!
Do you think an anchor buoy would help others to know where your anchor is or would they just ignore it ?

@@SailingSweetRuca Thanks for the reply. Very good points you mention. Keep that Bayview flag a flying. When we go our SSC flag will fly.
I think yours was the first time I heard any of the cruisers I follow go to church. Even if one is not Christian the cultural experience is worth it .

Did getting angry and yelling back at them solve the problem?
@@SailingSweetRuca who said I yelled at THEM?
