    The reason no one has banded together against AI is that artists are on ego trip and refuse to unionize. They want to establish a hierarchy of “good artists” and “bad artists.” The greats refuse a pay cut or even being lumped together with the mids. And no one wants to hire a bad artist. It’s probably too late to do anything about AI

    100%. It's going to be a problem with vocalists as well. It's all very depressing. The "AI is just a tool" people in the comments here are totally missing the point (or willfully ignoring it).

      AI won't take your voice away or undo your musical or acting skills... it was a ridiculous occupation in the first place..
      I'm an artist... but I create art to create; not to sell.. I actually have a job for that. And when AI take over that, I'll have time to create more, and use AI as a tool if I feel like it..

    • @mechadonia

      @@Anthony-ds6vlHow is it a ridiculous occupation? If you have artistic skills that took years to develop I don’t think it is ridiculous that people pay you for that skillset.

    • @Anthony-ds6vl
      @Anthony-ds6vl 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @mechadonia you're right. Technically, anything can be an occupation. What's ridiculous is the entertainment industry and the status it holds in our society...
      I'm sure it takes "skills" to make up voices lol..
      Btw.. when I worked years on developing my artistic skills, NEVER did I think of how I can get paid.. My art came directly from my heart.. I've done many artworks for free or donations.
      I create because it's my passion... if I sold my passion, it wouldn't be the same... this is why so many artists get burned out... they're too busy trying to make money and/or be famous, you're not being true to your passion... Many famous artists have said the same thing..
      Regardless, I won't lose any sleep if AI takes over the entertainment industry.

    • @mechadonia
      @mechadonia 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Anthony-ds6vl I’m sure it takes just as much if not more “skills” to become a successful voice actor as it does to make whatever art that you give away. If it was easy money everyone would do it, not exactly a celebrity occupation either most ppl can’t name a single voice actor. In my opinion art that is bought does not reduce its artistic quality, just shows that other people appreciate it enough to pay for it. If making money off of art compromises the process then you should stop accepting donations lol, you said you have a job too so what would you need the money for anyways :P
      I jest, but it is a bit cruel to celebrate professional artists losing their jobs because you view their art as less creative than yours, or because you don’t think they deserve status or don’t like how the entertainment industry work. Especially if you yourself are an artist that profits off of your work donations or otherwise, you are not so different from them, they just do what you do more often.

      @mechadonia children make silly voices all the time.. never seen a child paint a portrait... my nephew can juggle.. And no, not everyone can get into the entertainment industry.. there are A LOT of ppl that could do the samething; social media has given ppl the platform to prove that... the industry gatekeeps.... it's how they create the illusion of making ppl think they're special... real actors don't take cuts are redos...
      I get you think all of this is special.. its been brainwashed into us... but it's not...
      Hollywood just makes you think that 🤷🏽‍♂️

    As a musician, I'm all for ai assistance though. What I mean by that is that there are alot of parts of making music that I have little interest in and it takes time and energy which can be a burden on the completion of the song. Because the long I work on a song the more perspective I lose as the original emotion the song is based on gets diluted. So where I'd love for AI to come in is for it to be used in music production software (DAWS) where I can just easily have the drums in a song processed for me or the guitar and vocals processed for me without having to spend a significant amount of time on that and rather spend the time on the big decisions, like the composition of the song and the emotion of the song.
    Musicians tend to hate AI, but i am in a space where i am not be making money from music so I don't have anything to lose by people making AI music. Because I make music because I love doing it. But if people stop supporting humans at one point well that would suck but we can't stop it and I don't think musicians should try stop it, but rather go with the flow of the situation and see how they can make it work for them.
    My "scariest" projection of the future in terms of AI and music making is that we reach a point where music streaming services generate music for you based off of a musician that you like. So you can listen to a fresh new song whenever you want. We are already in this dopamine crazed reality at the moment and I don't see why it won't happen with music unfortunately.
    Sorry for my depressing outlook. But if u stop making music because of AI, maybe you are making music for the wrong reasons.

  • @corporate-trauma

    I use AI to make music, I have it on Spotify, and on my profile I state that I am a musical activist who uses AI. When people ask me who the vocalist is, I am very honest. I am not trying to produce the best music, I am attempting to get a message out best I can with tools that compensate for skill level.
    I don't worry about the individuals, I worry about the exploitation and greed of corporations of the masses.

    It's going to be the marketplace of clicks that decides this. If ai produces entertaining content consistently, it will get the clicks. You have to hope authenticity is what people prefer to consume.

  • @RobertOBlivion
    @RobertOBlivion 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I think you're right about authenticity being important, and more so than ever with the rise of generative 'AI' tools. The unfortunate problem is these tools are empowering morally deficient people to trick others. These tools weren't being weaponized and used for short term personal enrichment.
    It'll take some time for us to all adapt. Once your average person can instantly recognise AI (which will happen, given enough time), AI channels and products will die out in their current 'commercial' form. People don't want AI products. Authenticity is only going to become more valuable to people as we collectively try to make sense of what's happening

    • @soyvuestrohamster
      @soyvuestrohamster 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is pretty much the other way around, AI gets better every day and is going to be unrecognisable from real photos/videos very soon; you will not "adapt" to AI, it is AI who is going to adapt to your senses.

    • @RobertOBlivion
      @RobertOBlivion 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@soyvuestrohamster While humans have ways of signalling to each other they're not AI, that'll be more valued. It's one of the adaptations we're gearing up for, but also learning to recognise AI products will become more common as people are more exposed to it. There could be an arms race dynamic to this all, but as it gets worse people, creators especially, will get more invested in signalling they aren't an AI.
      You're assuming that AI is going to continue developing linearly. I think you're wrong about that.

      Sounds like you're looking for a Declicker. Depending on the editing software you use (primarily audio DAWs) there are usually 3rd part Declick plug-ins you can buy. The most popular is by iZotope but doing a search based on your own workflow should produce a Declicker that might be better for you specifically. They typically have settings to adjust how aggressive the declick is when processing a recording.

    In the same way streaming services and access to information seems to "numb" us to a certain degree. (who buys a whole album and are forced to listen to the complete record? -Why I love vinyl) AI will do the same with much of the quality of content produced. Music produced today is does not hold the "human quality" standard as before, as tools and algrithms lowers the bar. (imo) And it (AI) will do the same for a wery broad specter of things.. Next generations of voice synthesizers will blow the current ones out of the water. Same goes for video, text and so on.. This issue will intensify, unlike any other technology we have ever seen...

    Here's the thing. AI is not the machine in the box everyone is "afraid" of. It's the corporations that have existed for 400 years, and will continue to exist, in perpetuity, where which these combative and adversarial tactics originate. Corporations are actual "AI" and, so far, they're successful in the sense that no one has detected it yet.

    Humans are rapidly developing technologies that will probably destroy not only our species but most living things on the planet. AI is just one of those things that has potential for good and also for terrible harm. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, so it remains to be seen how this will all play out in the coming years. All I can say is that I'm very thankful I never had kids. I can easily imagine that by 2074 all the humans still alive on the planet will be slaves to their vastly more intelligent AI robot overlords.

    My chief concern with AI outside of the obvious deluge of trash the internet has become as a result of it is that AI is coming for the beginners. It's coming for the intermediates. AI isn't replacing the nancy cartwrights or the bear mccrearys or the (insert top tier talent in your niche). But it is going to replace the people still learning and developing their craft. So when our current cohort of experts reitres/dies, what happens to the craft? How do you get to that expert level if all the opportunities to learn and develop your skills are gobbled up by AI? Can an economy survive if only the best of the best are good enough to even have a job?

    Yep, when I see a faceless channel, I cannot X out of that fast enough and then mark as don't recommend. In SWE, there was an initial hype with AI because it was novel, but after that wore off, the reality is that whatever the big companies are doing (layoffs) with the expectation that AI will replace developers is just not happening. AI writes bad code and makes developers stupider. If it were to do anything, the disruption will come very slowly in maybe 10 years. And then there's the problem of the AI being trained on data, once it gets to the point where it is trained on ai generated data, then what? The quality and creativity will be on a downwards trajectory.
