Honda noticed people saying "the boxy design is old and dated" and now that they revised it, people are saying its mainstream? They fixed the problem with the squared off design by giving it curves and people are still complaining. I personally really like this design, it has its similarities with other vehicles in its class but also has differentiating features too.
Everyman Driver this may sound stupid and maybe not important to some but that armrest between the driver and passenger seems pretty stingy no? I'm not a fan of the single skinny armrest, for the back passengers it's fine but for me I tend to like the full center console to be one cushion, like the nissans have. I found when I do long haul drive, actually even short distance trips, I tend to lean on the armrest a lot. Even watching you drive made the armrest look awkward. Nice looking vehicle. The downside is the AWD is not on the level of a 4x4 so driving in snow and mud isn't as good but for a daily driver, that rarely matters. Good review as always.

I know your Pilot tester was an "Elite" which cost more, so might be a hard question for you. Interested in your thoughts though.
The 9 speed push button transmission in not in most models. Most models have a shifter and a 6 speed transmission....The vehicle looks so much better with the accessories. It has body side molding, chrome molding below that, chrome edged running board or a running board accented with led lights. They have a chrome trim for the front spoiler area, that goes over the fog lights (although the entire length is not chrome). They have a chrome trim for the lower back of the car and a chrome trim across the middle of the rear door. Roof rails really add a lot to the looks of the car as well as the cross pieces....The 20 inch wheels on the Elite model look pretty cool, but most models have 18 inch wheels.The captain chairs do not come on most models, and the second row seats are not heated on most models....I have tested the EXL Sensing model and that technology is incredible!....If lets you know if you cross a yellow line as long as you are going about 45 MPH or more. Plus, it uses radar to prevent you from running into a vehicle in front of you....I'm waiting on my EXL model to arrive...Thanks for the professional review....I didn't mean to run on so much, but I guess I'm a bit excited to be getting one of the "middle of the line" Pilots.
The koreans are out designing the Japanese. This 2016 pilot looks like a five year old Hyundai, and what's with the rear end? totally forgettable. Great reviews.
Is there any particular reason why they lowered it one inch? People who drive SUVs like being up off the ground. Why couldn't Honda leave the ground clearance alone?

Looks like they copied the Chevrolet Traverse. A hood prop rod on an over $30,000 SUV. Guess Honda can`t afford a $12.00 gas strut to hold the hood up.
Thank you for the quick review. I got to test drive an EX-L and it only has a Handle Shifter on the console, so only the upper trims will have the push button. The one interior thing I did not like was you can no longer disconnect the 3rd row seatbelt when the seats are stored into the floor. There is too much a chance an item you are trying to carry will get caught up on them or they will get dirty, unlike past models where the seatbelt is stored in the C-Pillar out of the way. I also did not care for the bi-focal side mirrors which distorted some of the view as you were driving.

there are buttons on the side of the seats for the second row seat to slide foward to access the third row

It can send up to 70% of the power to the rear and split the torque in the rear from left to right. It's like Acura SH-AWD. It's amazing in the snow.
Trigger Happy Guns I would recommed his 2014 off road review of the Pilot. It's a very capable off roader, even on street tires.

If there is no shift lever how do you shift? Is it similar to Chryslers dial?

is all the trim has no gear shifter lever? or just touring or elite trim has and the lower trim is in gear shift lever?
Exactly Dave the new honda pilot is like a crv but longer I don't really like the rear of the pilot!
I think the taillight a resemble the HRV. Overall a nice looking car!
