Hey Chad, As a Vietnamese I am amazed by how you describe all the dish. I think you are doing better than a lot of Vietnamese food reviewers. Excelent work!!
I went to the exact Pho Thin by Sol a few months ago and yes that beef broth was very unique indeed and such a cool place to enjoy a meal with family and friend. Pho Viet Nam is on my radar for my next visit to Saigon so thanks for sharing their noodle making process in this video Chad. Cam On for the great effort and can't wait for Part 2 of your Banh Mi series.
your videos are absolutely underrated, you deserve to be recognized more for that quality of your videos and your content! Keep it up my guy, looking forward to new ones.
Hey Chad, first I'm just gonna say that I love your stuff. Really been making me appreciate Vietnamese culture more (I'm second generation but haven't been too immersed in it). Just wondering but could you do a canh chua video? My absolute favorite thing to eat whenever I go to my grandparent's place.
Great channel and content. Big respect seeing you do this from your restaurant days in Philly now to HCMC. I lived in HCMC also and Pho Thin was my favorite as pho tai lan is really a version not seen in the west. Keep the great content coming!
I’d recommend Phở Thái Sơn, 178 Lê Lai Street, District 1. Phở Lệ used to be my favorite, until I found out about Thái Sơn! It has less sugary sweet taste than Lệ. Very full-bodied, rich, and well balanced in spices! I’m a Vietnamese living overseas, and I’d go to Thái Sơn every time I visit Saigon.
I know pho might seem boring to some but it is one of the dishes I grew up with and is my favorite noodle dish. Glad to see it be popular outside of Asia.
I been enjoying Phở Lệ since the first time I visited in 2016. It was my favorite go to place but my last 2 trips there, the flavor was not consistent and believed the quality has gone down since they have been focusing more on quantity since the have been known as a tourist trap. I will try Phở Vietnam when I visit next month. Yes, bún bò Huế all the way. Great content.
As I mentioned I feel like it had less spices then I remembered when I tasted it this time, so I’ll have to go back soon and see if the consistency is an issue.
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoffThey definitely have a consistency issue, which happens to most restaurants with broth in VN. I have eaten here so many times. Most were good, but on some occasions, the broth was virtually flavorless. my family agreed. I always asked for extra beef fat (nước béo) to improve the flavor
Hey, just a suggestion. I think that editing to add the VN subtitles directly in the video will give your videos more visibility towards Vietnamese audience, which is huge for your type of Vietnam-food-centric channel. You're potentially missing out on viewers/subscribers that don't turn on youtube subtitles but have massive interest in your channel topics.
Click on the CC option and you’ll see Vietnamese subtitles. The problem, in my opinion, is his channel needs to have a set “genre”. Whether it’s food reviewing, cooking, or both, it needs variety and frequency; reviewing and cooking of different food and more videos. I love his style of reviewing and I think food reviewers should possess such knowledge of culinary before they can become a reviewer. I, however, need to see more content.
I appreciate the advice, it’s hard when I know this content can be enjoyed by both Vietnamese and non Vietnamese speakers and how do we present it to 2 different audiences. We will always have viet subs available and just try to remind people that they are there either a click of a button
This channel will be focused on Vietnamese food reviews/education and traveling Vietnam information. I’m going to start another channel purely focused on cooking when my studio is finished. We were debating about doing more cooking on this channel but I just don’t think the views will be worth the effort. We are trying to increase the content frequency but we need more editing team to be consistent. I appreciate your thoughts
@@crystalwynn3910 Sorry if my comment wasn't clear enough. I meant that some people don't know to turn the CC on because they're not familiar enough with TH-cam subtitles function, which is the majority of older people using TH-cam. Your videos are awesome, keep up the great work. Do you happen to have a recipe for the northern style chilli sauce? I would love to make this at home.
As I've gotten to better know Vietnamese cuisine I've moved away from pho because I've realized there is much more to their cuisine than just pho. That said thank you for this video Chad because it introduced me to some pho style dishes and new layers to pho. Hand made pho noodles sounds divine!

Hi Chad Thanks you interviewed this pho! This is Amazing you know anything Better Vietnamese peoples in Vietnam. Thank you so much 👍🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏👏
just a thing I noticed in the Vietsub at 8:10 the bowl of pho should be "phở bò tái lăn" not "phở bò Thái Lan" :D "tái lăn" or "xào lăn" means the beef is quick stir fried on big flame. Nice video anw :D
the Phở bò tái lăn is like Northern Style for sure, but not Hanoi, is more like Nam Dinh style, when you looking for Hanoi style the broth should be clear like what you get at Pho Viet Nam in the video
Hi Chad, I took a few American friends to try phở at Phở Việt Nam in district 1, a couple of weeks ago. The broth for the beef noodle soup that we had was bland, very disappointed. I guess the fresh noodles and the herbs were good. By the way, I have been eating pho for at least 34 years and we love pho here in CA.
I really like your selection of Phở restaurants but I think you are missing out 1 of greatest in Sai Gon, Phở Phú Vương on Lê Văn Sỹ Street which in my opinion, the very essense of Southern Phở style. Just check it out.
The noodles in the first northern pho look too thin for me. The north generally uses flat ribbon noodles, but those looked a little skinny. Banh quay is a must have with pho
Phở tái lăn is my favorite style of northern phở. But as a southerner, I eat my phở with hoisin sauce but I don’t add it to the bowl, I just use it with chili sauce to dip my meat into. Sauce saté is used with hủ tiếu, not phở. Of your three locations, I’ve only eaten at Phở Viet Nam. It’s good but I don’t see the point of the sizzle pot because the weather is so damn hot already 😅
I never used to put sate in my pho, but after this day of eating I will reach for it more often for pho, it was delicious. I agree I usually never prefer the hot stone bowl, it’s just too hot 🥵
Here's a challenge... Would pho taste better if the noodles were cooked with the broth water. So instead of boiled water, we used beef stock or even the pho broth. It's like the pho noodle version of risotto.
There is that! We imagine so much of it… crikey! How long can we imagine these type of achievement? There’s so few other things that seem less. We salute many of the compkexitems so known to us - and many others. Its great. We all live so long. Maybe. The dead are soooooh silent.
