Moral of the story, only buy $1 protector and if it gets scratched than replace it, you can get 100's of this and everytime you get one it'd be as good as new!
but if you're changing it every couple weeks thats a pain in the ass, id rather spend 100$ and it last me the life of the phone

@@andrejcupac7359 It's not guaranteed in 4~5yrs of the phone's lifetime, plus if you have scratch guard then you must be using the case and if that's the case and your screen is flat then lip of case would protect most of the time so even that $1 guard would last you atleast a yr! I currently am not using a scratch guard and my phone dropped face down, screen was totally protected by the lip, ie no cracks or damage!
@@wrxvv might be but not worth $99 or not 100x better than $1 one plus you'll get used to $1 one and you won't find any difference but if you still want that feeling then you can get slightly expensive one, but $100 is not worth it for a scratch guard which you know at some point is gonna break!

Remember, a screen protector main purpose is to protect the screen. If the screen protecter is stronger than the screen it can shatter the screen through the protector. And remember, you can always easily replace a screen protector, not the screen itself
And if the protector is so expensive that you're scared of smashing the protector, what's the point

I see your point because the reason the screen protector shatters is because its taking the brute force of the fall and distributing it. If its stronger than the screen its doing nothing to protect the screen during a fall. Id rather have a glass screen protector that shatters and replace it than my actual screen getting damaged

Back In the day a phone would save my life. Huge respect to the phone man
I played the screen protector game for over a decade. A big reason I returned to foldables, other than the convenient form factor, is instant easy protection, with one flip. I don't often close my Z Flip during the day, unless I know I need screen protection.

I appreciate the test using Mohs scale of hardness however I’d also like to see a drop test as arguably that’s a more useful experiment. At least for me, I find a lot of screen protectors shatter way too easily
Those that shatter easily are the ones who'd save your phone. The kinetic energy from the fall will be transferred to the protector and your screen would be saved.

honestly, hydrogen screen protectors are the best. they dont shatter, if they sustain damage that doesnt tear then it will not be noticed and when a shatter does occur, the gel just tears slightly leaving no damage to the screen. i love mine

I'm glad to see that the $1 screen protector, while worse than the $100 screen protector, still does its base job of protecting the phone's screen from any damages. Because of this, I would gladly buy the $1 over the $100 one, because I'd be changing screen protectors far too few times in the phone's lifetime to make the $100 one worth the money, and I wouldn't be losing money by buying even 50 of the $1 ones.

The issue with a sapphire screen protector is that it can damage the glass below when shattered. Also, sapphire shatters waaay easier than glass. There isn't 0 point in a sapphire screen protector, but at those prices I strongly suggest just buying a bunch of glass ones.
