The resolution can be fixed easily; it's a common issue when Hackintoshing these machines with weird displays that OS X doesn't properly read the display's EDID. You can fix this by dumping the EDID in Windows, then manually injecting it in OS X. This is what I had to do to get the display to work properly under OS X on my Sony Vaio UX UMPCs.
oh hey, dosdude! just gonna take the chance to thank you for your contributions, hope I can pay you back someday for the extended life you brought into Macs 🫡

I didn't imagine you were going to do this, but it was something we all needed lmao. I can't even hackintosh my 2021 lenovo laptop because of hardware and seeing you do it on the samsung thingy is insane (and also disappointing for my laptop. literally disproves "newer is better"). I think you should try doing videos on Microsoft/Nokia Lumia and Windows Phone (and maybe a video on LumiaWOA? That's Windows on Arm). Plus, you could show off WUT which is a third party app store for Windows Phone devices (basically theres actually apps now - not as many as iOS or Android but still very usable). Thanks for the content! I hope you see this comment :) Have an awesome day Michael!
Just as a side note: you can run macOS on just about anything - in a virtual machine. You need a hacked version of VMware or mess with advanced settings of either VirtualBox or QEMU, there is no video acceleration and in some cases no sound either - but there's no messing with custom bootloaders, kexts or DSDTs, either. It mostly just works.
I've always been holding out for Apple to actually introduce some sort of native touchscreen support for their desktop OS, I got pretty hyped when they announced their own silicon that would be used between their Mac and iPad lineup. Hoped it would be the starting point for a merge between macOS and iOS, like full desktop OS running on the iPad because same architect but nah. Still separated and still no quality desktop touchscreen support. It's pretty dumb because a ton of folks use Macs for photo editing with external drawing pads, hell they even use iPads with the Apple Pen lmao.
The screen resolution is an easy fix with Hackintoshes - there's a boot flag that forces a resolution (that can be added to the com.apple.boot.plist file to make it apply on every boot). Let's assume that you want to force 1080p at 32 bit colour, the boot flag would be: "Graphics Mode"="1920x1080x32" I used to have to do this all the time on almost every Hackintosh install, regardless of having correct graphics drivers and/or distribution used.
Good work getting OS X installed. I'd love to see you keep trying to get that screen res working and find a way to calibrate the touch screen. I bet that for basic tasks it could still be a usable and useful little pocket Mac.
Most of the reason that I watch your channel is due to the fact that for many years I spent a considerable amount of time installing OS/2 just because it had the only good version of mahjong to be found for any operating system.
If you have the 600mhz crap, I'll leave you my tip: Buy an Apple TV 1st, it uses the same type of processor (BGA663) but it's a 1ghz pentium m with 2mb of cache (instead of 32kb like the 600mhz) it's considerably faster, runs all emulators, you'll need to have knowledge of bga rework or a trusted technician. And the GMA950 is running by default at 166mhz, you can use a memory register editor to change 2 values to get 400mhz (this is not overclocking, 400mhz is the default clock, it does not generate more heat, it just decreases battery life by 20%)
Just so you know, you should always turn VSync off! VSync forces your framerate to be a multiple of your screen refresh rate. So if your screen is 60Hz, but you're only getting 59FPS, VSync will drop you to 30FPS as that's the next multiple of 60. That 30 FPS setting in halo just emulates having a 30Hz screen. It has a huge impact on input delay as well. Never leave VSync on when doing any performance testing, all it does is eliminate screen tearing. I'll bet the game is much more playable with it off, even if it's still not good.
Try XRANDR to set a custom resolution. There might be a terminal command to add your own and activate it. You can make an SH script to have it auto set on each boot. I have done this on Linux, and it seems to be the same in MacOS.
The touch screen calibration issue feels like it was made for a different screen aspect ratio. There is only error in the X axis and it's almost perfect near the center of the screen while skews to the left near the left edge and to the right near the right edge.
With how much technology has advanced since 20 years ago, you’d think that whole windows 8 ecosystem Microsoft tried in 2012 would work. I’d love a windows version of what apple and android is doing personally, since the ui and fast metro stuff is pretty useful for big screens and those with disabilities. Mobile devices have really gotten stale lately and I think Microsoft was on to something with their phones, but the technology and business models got in the way. It was been years since I have seen phones with contrast that good, I swear. Metro UI used to be awesome and felt alive, just look at the Xbox 360 dashboard and old windows phones. The problem now is that these companies need to have some restraint and understand that once people buy their products, then it doesn’t belong to them anymore. So they don’t have to control what you already own like an angry kid who doesn’t want to share his Oreos. You got my money, Apple or whoever else. Michael, the reason you have that illegal instruction error is all Intel Macs supported SSE3 while the Intel A110 in your Samsung Q1 does not support SSE3 and only supports SSE2
Most people would ask why you'd turn an underpowered janky tablet from 2009 into a hackintosh. Micheal is one of the people who asks "why not?" instead.

Every time these pre-built distros come up, the hackintosh community strongly recommends against them. They're supposed to be easy, but you often run into problems that a one-size-fits-all solution just can't handle.
