That was very heartbreaking to watch the victims sister react to the verdicts. I truly hope she can find peace with this whole, awful situation. I feel sorry for the victim's family. A life cannot be replaced. I also believe this man should be granted parole. I could've EASILY done some knee-jerk, HORRIBLE reaction stuff like this at 16. I was wild. I'm 40 and I don't relate with my 16-year-old self ONE bit. I'm a father, provider, veteran, partner, and I do my best to better every day than I was the day before. People can ABSOLUTELY change, without a doubt.

You're 100% correct! EVERYTHING about what you commented is the exact same for me. Dad, veteran, provider, 40...&, I was out of control at 16. There are countless times that I could've ended up in jail or ended up caught up in the system. For whatever reason..it just wasn't in the cards for me.
I went into the military as soon as I turned 18 and was able to remove myself from that situation...I had some excellent mentors & leaders, found a job that I was passionate about & most important...I was able to work off that "karma debt" through different kinds of service.
Also, same as your situation ~ Im a different man that i was 3 years ago, I'm def nothing like I was when I was 16. I work hard everyday to be a better man than i was yesterday!!
There are some crimes ~ offenses against children & women ~ that are inexcusable/can't be forgiven. Otherwise..a solid man can bounce back from anything!

These videos should be mandatory for young kids when they are arrested & think it's cool to go to jail/prison. After finishing it, I’m so glad of the outcome but seeing the victims family so sad was just heartbreaking. Prison is supposed to be for rehabilitation and I feel in this case this is a perfect example of a young boy going in, becoming rehabilitated and getting out. Very rare but in this case the system and the programs and of course he put in for himself made all the difference. This boy that pulled the trigger no longer exists in my opinion just like I know the little bastard that I was for many years no longer exists but the guilt and shame remains and rightfully so that guilt is partially responsible for creating change and is a constant reminder of mistakes you never want to make again and I really believe he will never take the wrong path again and I hope I'm right because I feel this man has so much to give back from looking deep within himself and seeing thats not who he truly is

I feel that this parole / pardon meeting was handled very sensitively by everyone involved. My heart goes out to the victim family because they will never see their loved one again.
As the panel said, Forgiveness is more about a person freeing themselves and not necessarily about Mr Wesley. I feel the Mr Wesley is still learning from his mistakes at the age of 16. I believe that he should be given a second chance.
I sincerely hope that he makes use of this opportunity to come out of prison and make his life more meaningful with his family and friends. I hope that he will listen more to his parents, appreciate them and start/continue making wise decisions and wise choices regarding his future. If he needs help, I hope that he will ask for it.
Thanks to the producers and everyone involved in putting this video together.
    God bless you all!
    Peace and Love from
    Pastor Ester, UK.

I just recently came upon these videos and they are very interesting to say the most. My baby brother was killed at the age of 17 by a 14 yr old female and a older male in 1985. My brother was shot in the back 4 times with a rifle. They didn't serve one day in jail because it was ruled justifiable homicide. My brother didn't have a weapon nor could he defend himself. This destroyed our close knit family especially my son who was only 10 yrs old at the time and very close to my brother. I truly asked God to forgive them and help me to forgive them also which I have done.In time I pray the sister can forgive this young man. May God bless both families.

I feel for the sister. She was totally heartbroken 😢. This young being locked up for life at a young age was a blessing in disguise for him. So many young people get back out and continue running with the same crowd and end up going back and forth to jail. He had the chance to stay and become rehabilitated and break free from that lifestyle. I pray that he remains on the straight and narrow.

I think you're exactly right. Her ability to solely focus on keeping him locked up, prevented her from moving on. I think sometimes we make these secret agreements, like promising your dead child that you'll never let them let him out. But sometimes the day arrives when it's best for everyone if he is set free. Hopefully she can find peace in the transition.

Until you’ve been the family of the victim it’s hard to understand. The emotional toll that is put on you as the victims family to keep being dragged through parole hearings. Sometimes, the only sense of safety you have is then being locked up. If they were bold enough to kill my family member, why wouldn’t they be bold enough to kill me- especially when you speak out against them. The family will never feel at ease and might spend the rest of their life looking over their shoulders. It’s not about revenge, it’s about justice. They should have to complete their sentence.

It sounds like @ 16, the learning disability was a factor for him dropping out of school @ that time w/ lack of programs @ school, and social pressures of that age, that his situation made him be more vulnerable to pressures to join the negative side when options of adequate schooling lessened, possibly he was taken advantage of w/ aggressive recruiting by others in such compromised situations themselves. Congratulations on overcoming with flying colors the tough circumstances that imprisonment sets in front of a person, especially @ 16, and taking advantage of the opportunies that are provided. The loss of the young life of the 13 year old child is another heart rendering situation, and the best that can be done is that this young man honors that child by living the best way can. ❤️

He was 16.. Unfortunately nowadays things are different, in comparison to the way they were back when this happened. Were as our youth have negative behaviors, front and center no matter which way they turn, especially the schools.
I believe the parole board did the right thing, by releasing him.
One thing that will also help in his transition, is he has a huge family support system behind him.
A lot of teens don't have that today, and it is so much easier for them to get caught up in mess.
I had a high school administrator once tell me to my face, that even when they see a student do wrong, they don't like to call the parents because, they get cussed out , or hung up on.
As a parent you need to be all up in these teens business, and know everything they doing, and who they are around.
Luckily this gentleman is getting a 2nd chance, not everyone does, and their life is destroyed over a negative decision.

A lot of people think that because the victim cries and is upset because she has unforgiveness but I don't feel that was the case with her. When we do wrong God does forgive us (mankind not always) but there are consequences for those wrongdoings. Just because he was young and remorseful doesn't mean he should have been freed. This was a heartbreaking case and I hope he uses his freedom for good. FY: I think it was a little cold for them to have him so write a note and offer it to the victim's family especially seeing how upset she was and because he is free. It's like adding salt to the wound. Leave her alone and let her heal because nothing else coming from that situation is going to help her.

I totally understand the sister's pain and send condolences and prayers to the victim's family.
However, who among us would want to or should have to spend the rest of our lives paying for a WRONG decision made as a teenager.
Especially, if you have spent the years of the prime of your life paying for the wrong, and you used the time WISELY, and all of the powers that be are in support of your release.
Everyone does not deserve a second chance or the opportunity for redemption. But, when they do, as in this case, it should be granted.
25 years is a long incarceration regardless of the age you enter, but especially when you enter as a child.
I just hope this young man continues on the right path and uses his story to help others. I wish him well.

A lot of these convicts can pretend they have changed. But in this case, he has a job in the prison that would be very hard to fake change. He is involved in "hospice" in the prison, the warden made sure to bring that up. Also, the warden made the point to bring up he cleans toilets, but I imagine it also included cleaning the inmates too. I just feel for the sister though too. Too be honest I am split. Whose testimony should carry more weight?? And or should you ask for parole, maybe your penance is there in prison.

I cried several times throughout this one, for all. There are definitely some that did crimes when young and haven’t changed one tiny bit in 30 plus years, and never will. I truly believe he has. I could agree with the victim if his crime had been a torturous act. Even though all are cruel acts, there are some that ONLY a demon could do. I believe the 16 year old got caught up in a gang thinking he was cool, and was a follower. I truly believe that the only one he follows now, is the Lord Jesus. His family can keep him on that path, as well. Even though, thank God, I do not know the deepness of her hurt and pain, because without going through it, one can not know, but I do know, and have experienced, that the Lord Jesus Christ can take away and heal hurting and broken hearts. If the letter hasn’t already been written yet, I pray for the Lord to give him the words in that letter to help begin her healing, and forgiveness. 🙏

Not to mention, the defendant had three witnesses compared to the decedent's one; felt like six (panel included) against one. My sympathy level is not elevated when it comes to murder.
