    Great review! This answered a lot of questions. I did however find some of the background music distracting in the video, unless it’s a transition- I’d much prefer to hear your voice and explanation over the background tunes!

    Thank you for the review! I bought the tread and bike and am considering the Guide. Hmm, the membership is all access. Once you have purchased your item, the $39.00 is across the board for all devices. That price is the intro for a few months for the digital members and then that will change to $39.00. No matter how you slice or dice it -if you purchase anything Peloton it will be $39.00 monthly membership. Maybe I will just jump and down in my living room and once I start sweating - mission accomplished.🤣

    Thanks for the reivew. My peloton guide just came in today and since I am a bike+ member I see a little or no value of owning other than the dumbbells which i previously don't have .I do like their high quality ascetically pleasing dumbells but provided that I can take the same classes on my bike+, I am leaning more towards returning it.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If someone does not have a complete set of dumbbells, that should def be the priority over the Guide. The Peloton DBs do look nice!

    I'd be curious how this compares to the Tempo Move!! I sadly don't have space in a NYC apartment to use one of these 😭

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      biggest difference is that the Tempo Move is worth its cost just in the weights that comes with it. Also has weight/rep tracking. But membership does not include the amount of variety that Peloton does (bike, tread, strength, etc..)

  • @Tuberted
    @Tuberted ปีที่แล้ว

    Went to the Peloton store and was underwhelmed. First, I was not given an opportunity to use it myself. Second, the place it was set up was right next to the bike and there was really no way to use it at the store. Third, I got the impression that the sales person was just trying to get credit for the store and sell the extended warranty.
    As to the classes, it seemed like there really weren’t that many that used the capabilities of the device. After you get through with those programs, you can use it as a mirror, as she put it. Well, I don’t need that as I could go to the gym and get all the mirrors I want. And a whole lot more weights.
    I do hope Peloton can get serious about a strength machine. I wish them the best always.

  • @rachelhelman2098
    @rachelhelman2098 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the Guide and I like how the user interface is such high quality and easy to use. things I don't like are as follows
    If you have the view of just the instructor then the movement tracker doesn't work
    There's nowhere to get to your scheduled classes so to make it easy to find you have to put the class you want to do in the stack.
    These 2 issues could be solved easily with an update, hopefully there will be one soon.
    Great video, thanks 😊

  • @GreenTea4Me

    I am wondering if the movements have to match to count. Some people do the reps faster than others. Could that be why some counts are missed?

      Did two so far. they are…ok.
      It’s really not any different than Pelotons other cardio workouts. It’s pretty much all conditioning… just going back and forth between sections of bodyweight and light weight movements.

    Thanks for this in depth review. I wish I had found your video before I made the impulsive purchase yesterday 🤦🏾‍♀️. Most likely I will be returning it based on your review. What’s the point if you can cheat the machine into giving you credit for a move you didn’t even do, nor can it help you correct your form. I can just post a mirror near our tread and correct myself. Also not being able to connect my Apple Watch is another deal breaker. Thanks again for your great, unbiased review!

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should mention that Peloton did announce recently that the Guide will work with the Apple Watch in the future (not sure when)

  • @robertw477
    @robertw477 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    From your video I think overall it seems the camera has very minimal value to the workouts vs using something like Apple fitness for a fraction of the cost. I have seen something online that appears to be an AI trainer that claims to actually track the exact body movements to show or correct proper form. Dont know if it does or not. I think there will be many other similar products in the home fitness technoligy space.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yup. There are already several computer vision fitness trackers that do a lot more... and a TON on the way this year and next which are a lot more advanced. Peloton has great content so hopefully they can improve the Guide overtime to be more useful.

      if you are doing a yoga position are you doing it right is is some times hard to tell.

    • @ConnectTheWatts

      But did it have to be? I mean the camera on most iPhones/iPads is significantly better and more advanced than what is included with the Guide...

    • @youvalzil
      @youvalzil 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ConnectTheWatts it didn’t have to be but they’re a publicly listed org and have to compete at the entry level. Overall, Peloton has to go even further up market as they reinvented the home gym which I think was ripe for disruption long ago. Think they’ll add to their portfolio with a rowing machine soon or just buy out Hydrow?

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @cmccallion
    @cmccallion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've had my peloton Guide for a couple days now and I'm glad it has a 30-day return policy because mine will likely be going back. It doesn't add much more than what I can do using my bike screen and I prefer a touchscreen interface to the remote. Dealbreakers are no rep counting, no form correction, poor AI (you can do any movement to get credit), no apple watch support. Maybe I'll come back if they come out with an improved version, but for now this one is not worth it.

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      makes sense. I would probably do the same if I didn't plan on covering the exclusive content and updates as they come. I think rep counting could be added in down the road if there is enough people asking for it. Form correction though.... not much of a chance given how much harder that is to implement.

    • @ConnectTheWatts

    Curious if you can use to guide with non-weight classes like Pilates or barre, and if they would include other form-focused classes like kickboxing or yoga on there in the future. Overall I’d like a device which could assess my form more than one that can fill a sweat drop 😅

    • @ConnectTheWatts
      @ConnectTheWatts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they plan on adding yoga and other in the future. I think right now it wouldn't work since the movement tracker is only really there to detect movement... so far even in strength classes it has not been registering moments like planks (at least for me).

  • @AlexOctav
    @AlexOctav 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really can’t justify purchasing this device… I feel like it has a lot of shortcomings but the potential is there. Maybe if they incorporated the Kinect technology with building an actual skeleton and mapping it on you it could more accurately track movement… I am not too happy that they are now not offering those special floor classes for those of us who pay full membership, have the actual machines but aren’t ready to make a purchase for the guide. 🥵🥵🥵🥵

  • @davidsworld5837
    @davidsworld5837 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was when i seen it puzzled to how it helps you for the high price it is selling for, I can not see how it can be justified
    its like a wii move or like item but is far far more money.
    of all the things they could have brought out I see no point to it really yet we can make a few of the classes only use it.
    but since it is a camera when being used if the image can be streamed can it be hacked to spy on people or there homes.
    and I do not see it as an item that can increase the app or all access costs.
    if you look at peloton youtube video on it and there talking about it every one bring up apple connection. and who asked for this item.

Yourself - that is what keeps you "honest" on doing the actual movement with the actual weights - want to "fraud" a Bike workout - no problem, turn it on, sluff off - you get credit, want to do a strength workout on the Bike+ - turn it on, sit on the couch and eat chips - again, who are your cheating? no one but yourself - if that is the person you want to be don't get a home gym, go to planet fitness so you get shamed by actual gym rats.
