I wish Peloton would come out with a strength training device like a Vitruviun. It would be nice to be able to have both of those devices on one subscription.
I started with a Bowflex C6 in 01/21 using the Peloton app for a year. Then, I got a Bike+ and there was absolutely no comparison. Everything about my Bike+ is excellent. I have had my Bike+ for 2 years and ordered a Bike for our lake house this year. I am 100% happy with every penny I have spent. It is the best thing about my day. The power zone challenges are fantastic and the training is excellent.
The scenic rides could be greatly improved if the resistance matched the incline of the terrain. Thankfully Peloton finally added ERG mode to the Bike+ for the PZ classes. Long over due.
Great review! I have never pushed myself or been consistent with cardio training until I purchased Peloton equipment. I am literally drenched in sweat after a Peloton workout. I feel many Peloton enthusiasts have the same feedback. The content, music, and metrics are best in class.
We have all 4 pieces of Peloton equipmant- both my wife and i use them daily. My wife daily dose 3-5 classes (either a run or ride) then a strength, streaching/yoga and them medition. Over the last 2 years we've enjoyed @4500 workouts. We've gotten our money's worth. I agree with most of your drawbacks- but with so many alternative workouts available on the platform there are lots of choices. I eagerly await some type of PZ type training for the row. I did add a C2 for the harder core workouys and world wide ranking. The entertainment options (while seemingly going against the idea of workouts) are great for long slow endurance workouts/recovery without an instructor in your ear. I routinely watch a movie maintaining my heart rate at high zone 2 low 3 for 1-2 hours on the row. If my wife is doing a 2 hour ride I'm right beside her! Great review!
Just have to chime in that I use my Tread+ daily and I adore the amazing instructors and content! Rebecca Kennedy, Matty M, Olivia A, and Becs Gentry just to name a few. These are highly trained and truly inspiring and gifted instructors. So disagree that the most talent is kept for the bike….tons of talent on the Tread. Peace
I have the OG bike. I’ve ridden other OG bikes and they all vary so much. Have never tried a bike+. I LOVE their strength, boot camp, and cycle classes. My biggest complaint is their cycle shoes. They are so narrow and my toes go numb. Wish they would have went with a standard SPD cleat. I shouldn’t have to buy different pedals to use a better shoe when it already costs so much.
I would disagree about there not being enough instructors on the Tread or Strength. I would say there are tons (feels like too many for me personally) - I notice no drop-offs between bike and tread.. especially the fact that there are 5-6 top instructors that overlap between both (e.g. Alex, Olivia, Jess King). I would say the same about the Guide and strength instructors too. I have no issues with the Guide as a peripheral either- for the cost, it’s great to see your form vs the instructor and the programming is live weekly which makes it to easy and efficient to do strength ~5 days per week on top of cardio.
I think the Apple Fitness HIIT and yoga classes are more aesthetically pleasing. Meaning their set design is much nicer than Peloton. The instructors are pretty different though. There's only a couple I like at Apple Fitness compared to Peloton. In terms of workout quality, they're both good. Apple Fitness is definitely a good value. In the end, I think I'd only go Peloton if you already have some of their hardware like a bike, treadmill, or rower in which case then the HIIT, yoga, etc is just a bonus. I did try juggling both at one time but I, personally, find it hard to be fully invested in two ecosystems. I'd choose one or the other.
I jumped on the Peloton band wagon during the pandemic after my treadmill died. Bought the Bike Plus based upon the quality of the product and the review of the instructors. Which was a huge leap of fans I had never done a spin class before. I did get very annoyed when they raised the subscription fee and I do question some of the gimmicks they use in terms of the special guests, etc. I use my Bike Plus during winter and she shoulder season of Fall and Spring. I find the value high here. However, during the nicer months my use drops. They need to increase the value, such as more outdoor runs. I’d also like to see a cheaper subscription for a couple or single person. I have considered buying a tread but it is just a tad too pricey. They need to figure out a way to reduce the cost. Maybe even a discount based upon how long you’ve had your subscription.
I'd love more PZ content outside of classes. Lanebreak rides with PZ made so much sense, and it seems relatively straightforward to program. On scenic or entertainment rides, I'd love to be able to pick a PZ class program and be able to follow along. You can do a homebrew version of this with HomeFitnessBuddy, which will tell you when to switch Zones, but I want it fully integrated. And on the Bike+ PZ rides, I want the resistance knob to move me up and down the PZ scale and not the overall resistance. So if I'm in a Z3, if I increase the knob, I want it to push me to a high Z3 instead of the middle. Great video!
How much longer do you think Peloton can last before filing bankruptcy or being bought (Apple would be nice)? There stock use to be over $100 and now it’s below $5. The new CEO hasn’t done anything to improve things. Yours thoughts would be intriguing
They can probably survive for a very long time, especially if rates come down. But I still think they will be forced to sell if a buyer comes around, and I have a feeling that’ll happen in 2024 or 2025
Peloton is a lot like Apple. Once you're in the ecosystem it encourages you to go all in. An iPhone works great with an iPad that works great with a MacBook, etc. Same with me on Peloton. I initially got the Bike and (I agree) the Bike+ is a much better product and worth the upgrade for anyone on the fence. But then that got me to get the Row and then the Tread+ just this past week. While I am stacking hardware, the cost my subscription has not changed. If anything, its value has increased. But to that point, I am now FULLY committed.
There have been rumors that power zone is coming to the tread. I think this training aspect would be huge. Peloton used to have heart rate training in both bike and tread and I think highly of that form of training, but it doesn't lend itself well to Peloton's brand which is all about the metrics. I disagree about the strength content. Andy and Rebecca in particular have come out with great programs and both teach excellent technique. Another big plus for Peloton is that they provide such diversity of content which makes it very accessible to beginners and those recovering from injury. For me, I have the Guide membership $24/mo with non-Pelo bike and tread. I use multiple modalities. Fantastic deal for me.
The bowflex c6 or the yesoul with the peloton app is a better buy right now. They need to reconsider their pricing structure. Spending over 1500 dollars and locking you in to their membership is something they should reconsider.
Peloton is fun, but long term is not worth it. I get bored with being locked in a system. Especially since peloton seems like a cult now. So that’s why I bought Rogue Echo Bike. Best bike ever! Most effective workouts.
@@ConnectTheWatts it’s so interesting. If I could try the tower I may buy it. But I definitely wanna get a tread+ but not if they’re gonna go bankrupt ya know. So expensive!

Agreed
dumbells cost like $100 compared to that.

Do you think there is much difference between the bike and bike +? which do you prefer?

I love my OG Bike, Tread, & the Guide. Im doing a 75 day challenge and having all of these devices help keep me on point.
This long-term review was very helpful. The product perspective was helpful, and your perspective on the company perhaps even moreso. Thanks.

This is such an excellent review that anybody considering buying into the Peloton ecosystem must watch this first!

Agreed. The fact that Alex T and Jess K are both on Tread is what got me to get their treadmill. Those are two of my favorite instructors on Bike.
Have you ever reviewed Apple Fitness. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Great video!
1:30 woot? I mean design wise, the Peloton bike is decades behind the Nohrd Bike (or Norhd's WaterRower for that matter).
That rower is terrible and loud c'mon

Will you do a review of the tread plus

What would you recommend as alternative to Peloton strength that is based on dumbells or barbells for people who are not looking to be body builders
OMG have you taken a Jon Hosking class on the Tread or the Walk & Talk on Wednesdays? They are fantastic!! Love both my Tread and my Bike+
There have been rumors that power zone is coming to the tread. I think this training aspect would be huge. Peloton used to have heart rate training in both bike and tread and I think highly of that form of training, but it doesn't lend itself well to Peloton's brand which is all about the metrics.

Any thoughts on a used peloton plus? The monthly charge is steep especially if you already go to a gym and pay other fitness programs
I bought a used bike plus, and I did have to replace the front bearing with a 3-4 months. But I love it, and it’s going pretty darn good
I just got a bike+ for $700 Canadian. Its amazing.
He’s right the scenic rides are funny
Peloton is fun, but long term is not worth it. I get bored with being locked in a system. Especially since peloton seems like a cult now. So that’s why I bought Rogue Echo Bike. Best bike ever! Most effective workouts.
Why is peloton struggling financially so much?
they have a great product, but terrible decision makers.
@@ConnectTheWatts it’s so interesting. If I could try the tower I may buy it. But I definitely wanna get a tread+ but not if they’re gonna go bankrupt ya know. So expensive!
