  • Mouseover macros provide incredible flexibility and speed when used properly, and this video will show you how to make it happen!

    The macros shown in the video:
    (!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!!!!!!!!!! TH-cam doesn't allow angle brackets in the description of videos, so I've had to replace them with parentheses. Be sure to replace the parentheses with angle brackets to make the macro work properly!!!!!)
    Aetherial Manipulation for Black Mage -
    /merror off
    /micon "Aetherial Manipulation" pvpaction
    /pvpaction "Aetherial Manipulation" (mo)
    Kardia/Kardion for Sage -
    /mlock
    /micon kardia pvpaction
    /merror off
    /autofacetarget off
    /pvpaction kardia (mo)
    /pvpaction kardia
    /autofacetarget on
    The framework of both macros will work with other similar abilities simply by switching out the provided ability for the new ability name. With the Kardia/Kardion macro, some abilities might require facing your target for the ability to work (Dark Knight's "The Blackest Night", for example). If that's the case, then you'll need to remove the two "autofacetarget" lines. If you find another macro that proves useful, let me know, I'd love to hear it!

    Something to bring up is that macros aren't instantaneous. They don't run every single line the very nanosecond that the previous one ends. There is a small, fraction-of-a-second delay between each line. What this means functionally is that if you don't want to wear out your keyboard or mouse side buttons or whatever else from mashing the macroy -- and this is especially prudent if you have a fallback line to change the functionality assuming the first line fails -- it is essentially possible to create a pseudo-buffer.
    While macros cannot benefit from "real" buffers, and while you cannot do fraction-of-a-second arguments, you can just spam the action line repeatedly to make it try to attempt it over a longer period of time, making it function, on a practical level, not entirely unlike a buffer. Now, using the /mlock command makes this a bit riskier if you need to have split-second decision altering, but outside of PvP content where you can plan around engagement predictability to an extent, that riskiness is essentially lost.
    The delay is just long enough that if you spam several lines of Ninja mudras, you can actually get a second mudra into the same macro. That's not an insignificant timeframe, and gives a good idea of the kind of buffer window you can achieve in the most extreme scenarios.
    And it certainly beats using arguments, given that those are limited to whole-seconds and you can lose precious time by relying on them.

      Thank you! I've gone hard at them because they're one of the things that I feel pushed me over the top as a high-level player. So to balance out the beginner guides I have, these are the more expert level topics I'd like to cover for starters.

    I've tried every modification I can think of for both of these macros, but it doesn't work for Meisui. Is there a specific macro needed for it considering it's activated by Three Mudra?

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, when you want to macro follow up abilities, you have to make the name of the ability in the /pvpaction line whatever the original cast is. So in this case, it'll be "/pvpaction "three mudra" ", and that line will actually cast meisui as long as you've already pressed three mudra prior to that since it's the "three mudra" button which changes into Meisui. I haven't gotten to try this on a friend, but I can confirm it works at least on myself. As long as it works on mouseover targets, and I don't know why it wouldn't your macro would be:
      /micon "meisui" pvpaction
      /merror off
      /pvpaction "three mudra"
      you could also add an optional 4th line if you'd like to make it target your current target if you don't have a mouseover at the time. that'd be:
      /pvpaction "three mudra"
      Let me know whether or not this works, I'd like to come back and toy with it if it doesn't.

      @@Calmlamity Yep! Worked perfectly! Thanks a lot for the modification! Too bad I'm still stuck in ELO (specifically gold) and can't get out because all my games go 50-50 or worse.

    Recently been following your guides. Do you have any tips for targeting? I'm so used to tab targeting in PvE but it's screwing up my plays in PvP. Great videos btw.

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I have a video on improving tab targeting here: th-cam.com/video/0u7X-5IZtbQ/w-d-xo.html .
      I also have a video on the ins and outs of clicking: th-cam.com/video/RCvDC8rwZBc/w-d-xo.html .
      And then this mouseover macro video combined with the focus macro video, these all come together in order to circumvent the weaknesses XIV has with their targeting systems. You don't need them all to have success, but you will see a huge improvement in your play if you get comfy with them all. Hope it helps 🙂

    If I click to target an ally with an ability, and then move my cursor onto another ally, which will the macro prioritize? Sorry if that doesn't make much sense.

    At 1:52 seconds you say your "guard is forced". What do you mean by that? And do you have tips for controller players?

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      By "guard is forced", I mean I felt in that moment that if I didn't press guard I was going to die. They didn't literally force me to press it, but in that situation I absolutely felt like I needed to, even with the tornados less than 10 seconds away.
      And unfortunately, I don't have any controller tips of my own since I play exclusively mouse/keyboard. But if you join PvP Revival, there are a ton of mentors and members there who play controller at a very very high level and would be happy to provide the information I'm not able to. discord.gg/pvprevival

    but mouse over macro does not get into server side skill-queue ...Isn't this the deciding factor not to use it in pvp?

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's a weakness of them. It's a tradeoff between utility vs ability to queue them. I can't queue my mouseover teleport macros, but having them still gives me significant movement utility over not having them at all. Just depends on what you're using macros for.

    im trying a summoner user macro but its a bit faulty. Main reason i need this macro is to add gtoff
    this is the user macro im attempting on summoner. Anyone know what im doing wrong?
    /micon "Summon Phoenix" pvpaction
    /pvpaction "Summon Phoenix" gtoff
    /pvpaction "Revelation"

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With abilities that turn into other abilities, the pvpaction you write into the macro is always the first one. That will also use whatever it changes into after that. So if you're using a macro to summon Phoenix, and then use Phoenix's follow up ability, your macro will have /pvpaction "Summon Phoenix". You'll use it once to summon Phoenix, and that same macro will then also use "Enkindle Phoenix", which casts Revelation, if you press it again.
      But if that's what you're looking to do, you can get that functionality by just using the LB button without a macro by turning on the "press action twice to execute" option on in Character Configuration -> Control Settings on the left -> Target tab on top. I guess the only difference is I click twice, but I do also get the ability to aim something like a Bahamut if I need to delay for a second or two as enemies are clumping together. I think that control has more value than being able to use an ability with one click.
      Hope that helps, let me know if it does!

    they call it a social game yet the game doesn't have basic social functions like voice chat, chat bubbles orabiltiy to communicate freely in PvP

    • @Calmlamity
      @Calmlamity  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't tell if you're trolling or not, but there's a chat window in the bottom left of basically my entire video. And none of the MMOs I've ever played have had voice chat built in, so that's not an issue anyways.
      I think you're just wrong, friend. Outside of controlled communication in Crystal Conflict, you're either wrong, or your points are inconsequential.
