Christ, when I got out of the game some time back we were getting $3 up and $3 down. Not counting furniture and any floor prep. I'm glad to see installer pay has gone up. I spent a lot of years really enjoying this kind of work every day. Good luck to all of you.
I see people making less than we was making in the 70's 80's I started right when they stop sewing the seams together lol man them seams looked great and held up , lol we been using a carpet stretcher ever since we started I guess that's why I still can water ski walk etc I see people doing less than 3 years start with a knee kicker and can walk around now always getting fluid drained from their knees crazy
Im working for a company here in nc getting paid 2.20 per yard not occupied houses , we gota tear out and reinstall flooring. Hearing people get paid 4 per yard is insanity good ..
I make 4.95 a yard. .55 a sqft up here in MN. I only work apartments as well, by choice, cause working in ppls homes sucks. They take a microscope to your work. I know the residential guys make .75 sqft here.
Thanks for all the feedback!! I loved doin apartment work back in the day. Lots of freedom in that. Back when I was doing that in the early 2000s we were getting $2.30 syd YIKES!!
The numbers I shared in this are gross to the main installer. If you roll solo the only other expenses would be supplies (seam tape, blades…) But if there is help on the job with the scenario shared in this they would be paid out of those numbers as well I’ll actually drop a video sharing how I pay my team as well
If there are still installers out there charging under $5-6 a square yard.. I'd like to know how many times they've had their fuel pump replaced... Even the price of bolognese sandwiches have gone up...
Some dudes still stuck in the grind but hopefully they can use the lack of competition in the market to up their prices and start getting ahead of the game What market are you based in? And what are the numbers looking like on average in your area?
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint man we been getting $10 a yard min. And they still call us I rather keep my prices up and miss a lot of them jobs most people are doing lol that's a good thing about when you take pride in every job you do you can make a lit more and people don't mind what you make I know people out here doing for half of what we was getting in the 70's the don't even own a carpet stretcher half ass kick it in and make seams all messed up
I guess it's location, location, location, I wouldn't do Floor's well probably nowhere else than the spot been in the whole 38 plus year's I'm glad I just pi k what I want to do now of day's I feel sorry for installers that's starting out and especially the places where they working from the Carolina's top paying and best working conditions than anywhere else
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint Ohio.. If you're running your own show, you can pretty much charge whatever you want.. like you said some people might not want to pay.. some will.. and if you have your own clients and they trust you.. most won't even check prices elsewhere.. Selling your own jobs easy $6-10 SY for carpet installation.. removal $2-4.. There isn't 1 shoe that fits all sizes.. carpet prices shouldn't be either.. Type of carpet, weight, layout.. all of which we incorporate into our prices.. for example.. the heavier the carpet.. the higher the installation rate.. The possibilities are endless.. Create your own price sheet.. hand it out to your clients... and you'll find the clients to fit your needs. 💯 Keep up the vids and business advice!
I’ll do a follow up on this as well! Lots of word of mouth but testing a lotta new marketing strategies at the moment. I share what I’m up to and the results (some good and some all bad lol)
@@jeffjunk I been doing flooring for 38 years it was shitty watching him I can tell you don't know nothing about and I fell summer just for replying back to you especially after how stupid you sound lol wow y'all keep doing that crappy work I make more money fixing and repairs from shady work
Lol.. what's this guy (3775) talking about.. you mean "work like" running your own carpet business..? Talk about jealousy.. look at all these Store Grunts coming at you..
I'm jealous that he installs on a first grade level, you nailed it bud, I'm also jealous that he steals from every single one of his customers by not doing the job they pay him to do, you're no better than some sorry ass person robbing a gas station is the reality, try being a man that people can respect someday

Lol.. @georgebyrne2108 how do you know - did he do that seam for your grandma 20 some years ago and just now you noticed it starting to come up?

@@georgebyrne2108 that's because the renters are going to come in and eat the carpet..
I don't think if someone paid you 20 a yard you'd actually do it right, pretty sure you're just stuck in your own head doing work like that
