  • In this video, we delve into what different gold mining features look like on LiDAR vs what you will encounter in the field. This should help gold prospectors have a better understanding of the gold mining features that they will see on LiDAR overlays and maps.
    Thanks for watching!!

I’ve been curious about LiDAR in prospecting/mining. Thank you

just found your channel. what a fascinating field of study.
I am trying to locate scan data for Napa Valley.
Especially near the now destroyed Kirkbride Asylum 1875-1949.
    thank you

super. I'll be following along as well.
I'm looking for Napa Valley data in this area:

It is interesting to ponder what might have been. I see many test pits, trenches, filled shafts, hydrolic workings, stream diversions, etc.. in Gold Hill, NC but it was a town famous for gold mining. I know that most of the privately owned shafts were filled in but the shafts that the government took control of are still open but gated up. Great video Matt! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! It interesting that most the shafts in Va on private property or gov land are all generally left how they were. A few have been filled but not many.

COSTEAN - A trench cut across the conjectured line of outcrop of a seam or orebody to expose the full width.

Great video. I'll definitely use this to reexamine some of the areas I've been studying.

First time I have seen your page. Good instruction Thanks. Did you plot the vein trends or are they on a layer? Second have they flown LiDAR over Montana yet and where do I find the LiDAR maps? I will go look over your other videos.

I plotted the vein trends based off the feature I was seeing on the Lidar and the known geologic trends. Yeah check out my video on the CalTopo app. It’s has Lidar built in for areas that have it.

You should reach out to Matt's off-road recovery and see if you can help Ed find a mine he is looking for.,. Or at least give him some better maps.

I will try. But I’m sure with having over a million subs it may be hard to get through the clutter of all the messages he probably gets daily. Thanks for the idea. And the good thing is that the Sierra Nevadas have great LiDAR data coverage.
