Not sure if I should get this or the PG27UQR.. Price wise they are very similar in Germany. As I don't need dual mode and the design seems a bit more premium I'm leaning towards the PG27UQR right now. Any thoughts?
Not very impressive. With those kind of response times even 240Hz is a stretch, 320 makes no sense on this display, while 4K remains stuck at 160. Straight 4K@240 would be much more suitable for this panel. Also very undercooked, missing separate OSD settings for both modes or not using integer scaling is a very obvious negligence. It seems to be priced correctly though so it still stands even when ignoring dual mode.
It really doesn't particularly matter how acceptable a non-integer scaled image is. The main original pitch of these monitors, and the reason it's 4K to 1080p and not some other combination, was perfect scaling. Not getting that part right, like others have pointed out, is just baffling. You'd think the hardware would be the hard part, not the process of choosing the common sense scaling algorithm.
Would be interested too, although this is an IPS panel, so native contrast will be low, and from the other IPS FALD monitors, we know it's not working well together.
i ot the monitor - i really like it - not too matte and glow and bleed is very contolled - i mean its even no corner stands out as bad - could you give me the best setting you used plaese - thanks
I have an i9 13900k and Asus RTX 4070 ti. Looking for a dual-resolution monitor if games in 4k 50-60 fps are not achievable then options to reduce resolution 1080p max fps. Is it good idea? Dell aw2723qf or this asus?
I tried 4k oled 165hz it's not good as 240hz 4k oled or ultra wide monitors. there is difference in smoothness so if you want the best pick 240hz or higher.
1440p 120hz supported on hdmi 2.0 on ps5 if you wanna use 4k 120hz you need HDMI 2.1 and if you use the HDMI cable that it comes with in the box it should be 2.1 HDMI cable
Yes but you don't get the increased refresh rate that way. Dual mode kinda makes sense, but you have to use integer scaling, not these stupid algorithms Asus uses.
I refuse to believe the 480Hz mode is THAT much more noticeable compared to 240Hz, especially when you have to sacrifice better scaling for it which would impact picture quality more significantly.
What's the point? Get 4k240hz, play ur 4k games as usual and for competitive games use FSR and DLSS on ultra performance? Or just change the rez to 1080p or something lol.. I mean it's nice to have but pay for it?
Shockingly not all games support DLSS/FSR/XeSS etc. Yeah i know, it's weird that there's more than 2 decades of games being released before these fancy upscalers were a thing. Also those that do support them don't necessarily support them correctly and will exhibit visual anomalies like excessive ghosting, artifacts etc.
Hey I wanted to ask if you are looking at reviewing the Sony Inzone M10S (480HZ oled)? I currently own it and the HDR 1300 mode (Game HDR) is not working for me and others despite being on the latest firmware. Windows 11 HDR calibration app is reading 2550 nits on game HDR and the EDID is locked at 445 nits on all modes.. I am considering returning it because of this but maybe Sony can fix it in a firmware update, but I don't want to bet on something like that. Are you potentially considering taking a look at this monitor? Would be greatly appreciated if you did!
Hello! Can anyone who has this monitor confirm that it does NOT have integer scaling at 1080? Has it been viewed without cleartype? Does it look blurry? Is there a square mode with pixel-by-pixel matching at 1080? Does it have any bleeding issues? (Lights from illumination on dark backgrounds) Thanks!
dual mode doesnt work if the native resolutions arent actually native and they're just poor scaling would have loved to see a 4K 60hz 1080p 120hz dual mode monitor for the budget market, but if the resolutions aren't actually native then there is literally zero point, just buy a 4K 120hz monitor, or even better a 4K 144hz monitor for the same price as what a 4K;60/1080;120 monitor would have been
So I have this monitor and I really recommend it for both work and gaming. However, I noticed that I am only able to get 4k @120hz in the Windows display settings rather than the advertised 4k @ 160hz. I am using a new Displayport 2.1 cable that should be able to handle this. My PC build is getting a bit old and might be the bottleneck..does anyone know if my build is limiting the framerate to 4k@120hz? Specs: Nvidia GTX 1080 AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz XPG 16GB RAM Windows 10 Pro
Hi! Nvidia GTX 1080 uses DP 1.2 but is backwards compatible with 1.4. I think the most your output card can output is 4K/60HZ, but you say it gives you 120HZ, it shouldn't give you more than 60HZ. Strange. Check your GPU manual, one thing is compatibility and another thing is generating those resolutions/HZ. About the XG27UCG FHD 1080 mode, do you think it's Interger Scaling (4 pixels of 4K) or another method? Is there a window or square mode in FHD 1080 that corresponds pixel by pixel with black borders? Does it look blurry in FHD mode or does it look sharp? What about dark backgrounds? Is there exaggerated lighting that deteriorates blacks (bleeding)? Do you buy it in Amazon? Country? Thanks
@@art6sense Hi. Thanks for your advice. I bought it from Amazon in the US. I'm not too familiar with integer scaling so I can't confirm that but I have read from others online that this monitor does not utilize it. While running FHD @320hz the display is not quite as sharp for texts/icons as my second monitor is with true native 1080p. I wouldn't call it "blurry" but you can tell its almost like looking at an old 1080p TV. I usually keep it in 4k mode unless I boot up a game that needs high refresh rate for an advantage. The blacks in this monitor look decent but there is obviously some very slight backlight bleed since it's an IPS panel. I personally decided it's not worth investing in an OLED panel due to the risk of burn in over a dual monitor like this which is great for both work and gaming. Check out monitor unboxings review of this screen, his advice on setting different OD values between modes is spot on 👍
@@Brain-ye5bf Thank you! for your kind information. I live in Europe and here Amazon is quite weak in offering the latest technology, and third parties sell on Amazon breaking the stock of products like this. How it is that its not Integer scaling? I have this monitor for 15 days now exactly since you did the AW review and first thing i tested is the dual mode. I managed to perfectly capture the individual pixels on both modes and also compare it with my old 1080p monitorfor, its 1:4 pixels integer scaled, looking exactly 1:1 with the native 1080p! Have u disabled "Smooth edges of screen fronts" in windows before comparing both modes because to me this feels like pure incompetence as someone who doesent know what hes doing just like your cpu benhmark reviews!
Dual mode is a gimmick, does not look sharp in the alternative res due to pixel layout. I would much rather buy a 1440p 360-480 Hz monitor and use DLDSR to downscale 4K rather than buying a 4K monitor to lower res to 1080p which looks terrible on a 32 inch panel anyway.
TLDR: 500$ 4k 160hz/1080p 320hz IPS with basically no HDR since HDR400 is just marketing bullshit speak for "basic high contrast stuff". BTW ROG sucks since they absolutely refuse to address their braindead fuckups such as buggy profiles that don't switch monitor protection and other settings when you switch between them and normal crosshair being adjustable while the "sniper" one with zoom is not, although it's the exact same feature.
Why would they not use integer scaling? It's really stupid. It would look better, run faster (because it's simple) and Dough (yes that scamming company) already has integer scaling in their monitors. Pathetic job by Asus here.
Name me one consumer graphics card that will be able to play games at 4k with a consistent 320fps A gpu that can handle that won't be a thing for a very long time. It will be unbelievably expensive when it is a thing. Finally, a 4k 320hz monitor would be at least $1,500.. this is $500 with dual mode..
Bruh. There are AAA games on the PS5 that run natively at 720p60. And there are PC games that you cant get more than 1080p60 even on RTX 4090. Big companies failing to optimize their games is not preventing me from enjoying high refresh rate screens. You still get lower input lag and less screen tearing.
27" is too big for 1080; too small for 4K.... $500 & no HDR?...Still getting overshoot?.... I mean, there are absolutely drawbacks to OLED, but the difference between an OLED presentation & an LCD is profound and the cost of that OLED is something they used to charge $2k+ for an LCD that still isn't as good as an OLED. I'd happily pay $1k for *any* of the OLED alternatives before I paid $500 for this....
@@Soandnb Lol the point of glossy isn't because I like a reflective screen, adding a gloss screen protector would be the same logic like games using TAA to solve anti-aliasing issues, but blurring the entire game. What a ridiculous take.
@JayJayYUP do you say this as someone who has actually tried it? Because I do. I had a drawing tablet with a worn-out screen protector. I ordered a number of screen protector samples to try out and get a feel for their drawing surfaces. When I applied the glossy protectors, they massively improved the pixel clarity of the screen, even though they were on top of the factory matte protector. And the reason this works is because the optical adhesive used fills the rough surface of the screen, allowing light to transmit much more cleanly. But if you don't believe me, you can buy a sample pack for $7 from Photodon, where I got my new tablet protector from.

Love your videos bro can you plz do a review on the KTC32p10 would really appreciate it 🙏
Not very impressive.
Hoping that a 32 inch version also comes along for this dual mode monitor
It really doesn't particularly matter how acceptable a non-integer scaled image is. The main original pitch of these monitors, and the reason it's 4K to 1080p and not some other combination, was perfect scaling. Not getting that part right, like others have pointed out, is just baffling. You'd think the hardware would be the hard part, not the process of choosing the common sense scaling algorithm.
Why aren't you k commoner calling that "1080p" as "2k"?
Now on the 3rd video, once again requesting a review for the Xiaomi G Pro 27 Mini Led monitor, a competitor to the AOC Q27G3XMN!
Let's gooo
same I've been asking for this a while back
I agree
Would be interested too, although this is an IPS panel, so native contrast will be low, and from the other IPS FALD monitors, we know it's not working well together.
Tom's Hardware has a review up from september 10, though their reviews aren't what they used to be...
Are you guys going to review the Sony Inzone M10s?
i ot the monitor - i really like it - not too matte and glow and bleed is very contolled - i mean its even no corner stands out as bad - could you give me the best setting you used plaese - thanks
3:35 deadpixel? i thought it is on my oled monitor hahaha
same question, that needs to be addressed
Please make a review on MSI MAG 274UPF E2. It is 4k 160 hz monitor.
Rtings reviewed the non-E2 version, unless u think a lot improved.
Maybe we'll get a gigabyte version of this dual mode monitor and my home office won't have to look like a teenagers bedroom.
Yeah!
Asus' gamery designs are straight vomit worthy 🤢🤮
No integer scaling?? FAIL. Not interested.
How does this monitor perform with 60hz games?
what is a good low response time monitor under 300€? pls
Are you gonna test the new FO32U2P firmware? It added a new HDR1000 mode.
An amazing video
Does this have ips black technology? that coating that LG uses to keep blacks looking black instead of grey?
I have an i9 13900k and Asus RTX 4070 ti.
Looking for a dual-resolution monitor if games in 4k 50-60 fps are not achievable then options to reduce resolution 1080p max fps.
Is it good idea?
Dell aw2723qf or this asus?
I tried 4k oled 165hz it's not good as 240hz 4k oled or ultra wide monitors.
there is difference in smoothness so if you want the best pick 240hz or higher.
Please Review Sony INZONE M9 II.
Asus website says the XG27UCG has HDR10 support.
Does this work with the PS5 and do you need a 2.1 HDMI?
1440p 120hz supported on hdmi 2.0 on ps5 if you wanna use 4k 120hz you need HDMI 2.1 and if you use the HDMI cable that it comes with in the box it should be 2.1 HDMI cable
I don't understand why this is a thing all of a sudden, can you not do integer scaling via GPU on PC anyway?
Yes but you don't get the increased refresh rate that way. Dual mode kinda makes sense, but you have to use integer scaling, not these stupid algorithms Asus uses.
if you do that you'll be sending a 4K image/signal to the monitor which means the monitor is operating in 4K 240Hz mode instead of 1080p 480Hz.
I mean it's nice to have but pay for it?
totally
the price??
Ummm, I think you're missing the point you realize how much do these 4k 240hz cost right?
Shockingly not all games support DLSS/FSR/XeSS etc. Yeah i know, it's weird that there's more than 2 decades of games being released before these fancy upscalers were a thing. Also those that do support them don't necessarily support them correctly and will exhibit visual anomalies like excessive ghosting, artifacts etc.
4k 240hz are way above $500 mate. This aint in the same price range.
Sonys hdr is brown on this one sorry dude
Can you review the new Sony Inzone M10 480hz oled
Hello! Can anyone who has this monitor confirm that it does NOT have integer scaling at 1080? Has it been viewed without cleartype? Does it look blurry? Is there a square mode with pixel-by-pixel matching at 1080? Does it have any bleeding issues? (Lights from illumination on dark backgrounds) Thanks!
dual mode doesnt work if the native resolutions arent actually native and they're just poor scaling
would have loved to see a 4K 60hz 1080p 120hz dual mode monitor for the budget market, but if the resolutions aren't actually native then there is literally zero point, just buy a 4K 120hz monitor, or even better a 4K 144hz monitor for the same price as what a 4K;60/1080;120 monitor would have been
what you review a tn and a va monitor
why not 180hz tho?
need the 27" 5k version
Can anyone direct me to a link where I can buy it? It's sold out everywhere
can i stretch 4;3 on 24 inch mode 360hz? ill sell the zoiw ei just got
Just give me a 4K 480hz Oled!!
Specs:
Nvidia GTX 1080
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz
XPG 16GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro
The information that it looks almost like a FullHD TV and that texts and icons do not look sharp, is key for me, because I would use it mainly in 1080 and for digital retouching and 4K videos. I do not think I will buy it. In fact, you have given more information than the same review here, with very few words. If it helps, I have a Gigabyre RTX 3060 Gaminc 12GB OC, it is good but only for 1080 and maybe for 1440, Supports 4K@144Hz as specified in HDMI 2.1 and have DP 1.4a . If you are thinking of buying another GPU and want to play in 4K, do not buy this one, you would play at low FPS. Greetings. Have a nice day :)
@@art6sense Why would you prefer to keep it in 1080p/320hz mode more frequently over the 4k 160hz mode? For general use, I don't think the frame rate difference is honestly that noticeable going from 144/160 to 320. The picture/text quality is much more superior in 4k. Maybe this monitor is not for you but just food for thought.
@@Brain-ye5bf Until I buy a new one, my computer it´s an i5-10400F with an RTX 3060 12 GB (I want it to consume little, that's why I don't go from the 65W until t Intel of 125W like i7K or i9K or i5 11600K or other processors. In a new computer, yes, maybe in some moths. Think never the max output it´s 125.. maybe more than 230W, yes-.. My computer in some games it´s already slow in FHD (GTA 120 FPS), imagine in 4K :) However, I would only use 120HZ - I don't play sport games, I yes need quality (Sport games monitors have good sRGB and sharp image, ROG little bleeding, only for this i buy a Sport Monitor. The Asus ProArt 248CRV it´s a good monitor with good SRGB with a 1920x1200, The "Aura proportion" that it´s amazing but only 50-75HZ :( For this i need this type of sport monitors (more than 120HZ)). 1920x1080 doesn't look bad on a good 24.5" monitor, another thing is the 27" ones that look a bit worse. Imagine using your monitor in FHD and it doesn't look as sharp as a 27". Anyway, I'm thinking about it because I've always liked ROG, i need to see it in a shop, maybe bedore vuy it in Amazon. I had a PG259QNR in past that I returned because it looked yellowish in some areas but it was a very good monitor. 99%sRGB and Sharp images. Your monitor have sRGB 130% but can use the 100%SRGB. Think 130 are saturated colors, and 100 a little dark but "real colors" (i need for photography the monitor, too) Now I'm rear this one, your monitor, and the XG25QNG that just it´s out of sale China (you'll see very little information about this monitor en Google). But i need to see how bad it´s in FHD the XG27UCG and yes, i know the AW2725QF but i dont like alienware, more issues with coil whine sound and other stuff, like bleeding. Thanks for the mesage, I apreciated it :)
The cheaper and better monitor is the AOC U27G3X 4K 160Hz IPS HDMI 2.1
27inches. Why.
I wish they had this in 32 inches
32" 5K/1440p would be the best.
1080p on 32" would look abysmal
Dual mode is a gimmick, does not look sharp in the alternative res due to pixel layout. I would much rather buy a 1440p 360-480 Hz monitor and use DLDSR to downscale 4K rather than buying a 4K monitor to lower res to 1080p which looks terrible on a 32 inch panel anyway.
Dont buy 32 inch u fool
non oled? i’m good
TLDR: 500$ 4k 160hz/1080p 320hz IPS with basically no HDR since HDR400 is just marketing bullshit speak for "basic high contrast stuff".
BTW ROG sucks since they absolutely refuse to address their braindead fuckups such as buggy profiles that don't switch monitor protection and other settings when you switch between them and normal crosshair being adjustable while the "sniper" one with zoom is not, although it's the exact same feature.
I will watch this video, for sure. But what the heck is a "dual mode" monitor?? 😅

When will we see a 4k 240hz monitor, 160 has been going on for years now, my LG GP950 is 160.
4k 240hz 1080p 480 would be cool.
Still getting only 160hz and 1000:1 contrast ratio LCD's in the final months of 2024! What a massive joke.

Dual mode gimmicks need to stop.
0:06 Interesting, it's a jewel mode monitor.

Why would they not use integer scaling? It's really stupid. It would look better, run faster (because it's simple) and Dough (yes that scamming company) already has integer scaling in their monitors. Pathetic job by Asus here.
Asus the cheapest - Where's the catch? 😂
I had the Rog Strix Xg27ACG and it has the same rgb backlight but is it only 1440p 180hz IPS Monitor
I dont understand why this product exists, unless for the purpose of stuffing people with marketing gimmicks.
Where’s the Sony m10s dual mode
*dual...
Now we just need 1440p dual mode miniLED monitors.
Bro you really want to be playing at 720p? This works because it's a 4:1 scaling ratio. Only 720p scales that way into 1440p
There is no need for 1440p to go dual mode, you already have 1440p 480Hz screens.
@@crawfordbrown75No, 5K down to 1440p
@@winterhell2002 Those screens are OL*D, I want miniLED.

If 4k has 4x the resolution of 1080p, why can't we get 4x the refresh rate with dual mode? For example:
4k -> 120hz
1080p -> 480hz
Why aren't you simpleton calling "1080p" a "2k"?
I bet in a year the dual mode (at least the 4K160->1080p320 variant) is going to become obsolete when they release a 4K 320Hz panel.
Name me one consumer graphics card that will be able to play games at 4k with a consistent 320fps
A gpu that can handle that won't be a thing for a very long time.
I just want a 480 Hz 1080p OLED at 24 inches.
I was watching it till I realised it's not OLED. No, thanks.

I recall five years ago this thing would be utterly insane. Only problem being, that awful matte coating as always the deathblow..
It is not awful and it's better than glossy
if it means that much you could put a glossy protector over it
@@Soandnb Lol the point of glossy isn't because I like a reflective screen, adding a gloss screen protector would be the same logic like games using TAA to solve anti-aliasing issues, but blurring the entire game.
@@JayJayYUP only your dumb comments are ridiculous...

Its 27" what a joke lol.
27" is the perfect size for dual monitor setups. Anything bigger is too big. There's many of us waiting on 27" 4k 240hz oleds. You're getting better pixel density at that size too.
It makes sense. 4k 27" monitors are the standard for work. And 1080p 27" is pretty common and still usable.
24" is too small for 4k, 32" is too big for 1080p.
