    To anyone who's been following along and learning for a while now, go back and work on the stuff you gave up on. It's the best way to realize how much better you've gotten. I was literally shocked at how bad i used to be, and how much stuff i gave up on took me seconds to fix and ended up becoming some of my favorite pieces.

    One caveat is that in order to learn something like this "from scratch" in Blender, requires one to also have a basic sketch with pencil skill as well. And this shouldn't ignore a basic understanding of human/humanoid physiology and body proportions. I personally spend 90% of my time studying architect, botany, animals, mechanical engineering, and various other designs in addition to sketching, while 10% of the time is spent transferring that to 3D digital techniques. It helps to know what you are trying to build in the first place.

    • @grabbitt
      @grabbitt  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's very true

    • @NemisisRecords
      @NemisisRecords ปีที่แล้ว +12

      It doesn't require that at all. I've never been great at doing art by hand, or even digitally. It's one of the reasons I picked up 3D art. And I find it to be way more easy for me. I learned the concepts that you said all through 3D art. And I'd argue it was even easier doing that because the world is 3D. We don't have to find a way to make a 3D object, look 3D in a 2D space.
      Now, I will agree that it's probably a really helpful tool for someone. But required? Absolutely not.

    • @shadowbandit3975
      @shadowbandit3975 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simple answer. Do what works for you.
      But main reason you might use planes. It just allows a little more freedom and control when creating those edge flows.
      The only time I ever use boxes is when I'm making a block out character to sculpt on. Which I eventually end up using planes again on top of it for retopology.
