I have this knife...got it as a Christmas gift in 2019. My thoughts on the knife...love the look of the blade and knife overall. It immediately drew me to the knife. I love a prominent finger choil on a knife and this, of course, has that for sure. I also have found that it is very comfortable in my hand. I wasn't entirely sure it would be given the scales but I too find that it is comfortable to hold. The blade...not real sharp out of the box. This sentiment seems to be echoed below. Why is that? Well, I think it mostly has to do with the thickness of the blade. This little blade is built like a tank! It is made for a rough life in outdoor environments and would make a great small backpacking knife. It is not a super slicing machine thanks to this and the blade geometry of the grind. You want a super slicey blade? Well, chances are that super slicey blade won't survive rough outdoor use. Different tools for different tasks. You will never be able to make this knife take the kind of edge that you can a thin folder. Overall rating from me? Four out of five stars. I think they could have put a little better blade geometry on this to achieve a bit better edge. I think the sheath is decent but not great. I would have preferred something like 1095 steel over the SK5 steel. However, the grip is comfortable, the blade stock makes for a durable outdoor knife, and it supports a great cause.
Oh, I also meant to say that I often wear this knife on my belt at the small of my back in what is commonly called "scout carry". Works great given its size in this capacity.
I had to reprofile mine and now after 2 years of use and sharpening its shaving sharp and it's a beast of a knife i dont carry it as often as i used to but it is still a good back up blade in the truck for me.
Nice video, are you into traditional knives like case, gec and buck? I think you should do a video on the case russlock I think you would like that knife it is one hand opening with a lock but looks traditional still
Smoky Mtn Knife Works $66.99 5 stars with 2 reviews. Nice looking. Don't know if I'd pay that much for that size and shape of knife though. Cut all the ratchet straps you want but I could sure find a use for even those small pieces.
Been on the fence about this one for a while. SK5 isn't a very familiar steel for me. If this was in 1095, or even 1075, I'd already have one. Amazon reviews give it a lot of shade for the sheath. I'm relatively new to fixed blades, but my experience so far, has been that the sheath is at least as important as the knife itself. If it rattles, doesn't allow for good grip, dulls the blade, or doesn't retain the knife, that's a problem. Particularly in the budget and expensive categories. I don't want to spend 70 bucks getting a sheath made for a 50 dollar knife. I also don't want to spend 70 bucks getting a sheath made for a knife I already paid 300 on. In the 1-200 dollar range, it depends on the knife. I'll probably end up giving this one a try at some point. I like the looks at the very least.
I just bought it yesterday. As my first fixed blade purchase!
Good choice for a first fixed blade 👍💯

Have the blade. The tech-lock won't fit onto it. Not sure what they were thinking. If it will, by all means, show me how.
Haven’t even tried, that tek lok went to another blade 👍👍👍
have had mine since it came out and the tek lok fits just fine on my sheath but I have a first production run version.
I got mine on there but it was a pain in the ass for sure.

I’m into all kinds of blades. I freely admit I’m a knife junkie 👍😂

Right 👍💯
Crap. Now I’ll need another Crkt
You know you want it
And me in Canada, it runs me $130. SMH.
That exchange rate is a killer huh
Not a big fan of that blade. Well looks anyways! Lol. Great video as always though Chris
Thank you brother

Copy that, thanks for watching
Sk5 steel i higher than 1095 but I dot, know about 1075 but man I've been after this knife for the longest time
Cool looking blade but dull as a butter knife
I was a bit shocked to say the least. I kinda expected more to be honest
Tctbnl same. Most CRKTs I’ve handled have been screaming sharp straight out of the box
