Cedic & Ada Gear and Outdoors - Thank you for taking the time to take a look at the SiWi. It was fun to see all the test you put it through. Very well-done, detailed review! Thanks again.

Any sk5 knives after put inside sheath edge rolls without reason. Love the scary sharp after strop, but never buy any knives from sk5 steel anymore.

@@mohdzaudikhasni8829But does this hold true for Boker Kommander too? I guess I'll find out. It's the SK 5 but a great design by a European designer who's name isn't the biggest, but design quality is high

    Very stout knife.
I took a sanding block to the handle on mine, to knock-down the hot spots.
I added a two-finger lanyard to add stability to my grip with XL hands.
    A poorman's Bradford Guardian 3...
A slashing "Fighter" in a pinch as well.
    Keep 'em Sharp !

Say what you will about CRKTs folding knife line, but their fixed blades are suprisingly impressive. I think their signature recipe of custom knife design and value-conscious manufacture really works for a fixed blade. And they seem to get the importance of a good sheath - given a zero-sum choice to keep the price down I'd take a cheap (but sensible) blade steel over a cheap throwaway sheath every time.

I own both the siwi and the izula. The izula is much lighter and bit smaller. when I want something beefier I carry the CRKT and when I want to go lighter weight and more minimalist I carry the ESEE.

Similar size and dimensions as the Schrade SCHF-55. It's in 1095... basically a sharpened little pry bar designed by Brian Griffin. But I like this knife also though. Fits a tactical niche. Just got a Kizer Little River Bowie. A fantastic midsize edc/outdoors knife with the best factory sheath I've run into.

Not sure if I didn't realize or just simply forgot, but as a part of CRKTs Forged by War series, some of the price is going towards a good cause, and to me that really makes this knife much more reasonably priced than it would be otherwise. I think CRKT's pricing is pretty bad a lot of the time, as they seem to skimp in all the wrong places, but not here. SK5 is good stuff, and one of, if not my very favorite budget carbon blade steels. It is basically a Japanese made 1080 series carbon steel, so as long as its not run too hard, it's tough as hell, and very easy to sharpen, even in the field with no equipment. I do however take some issue with makers that are using it under the names SK85 or CK55 with a considerably higher price tag. It comes off like they are trying to avoid the reputation of this of this steel which is old, simple, and inexpensive. Some of you might know the brands I'm referring to. Transparency is paramount in customer loyalty, at least in my case. Sorry for the rant.

I wish knife companies would start making sheaths (for fixed blades)that are deep pocket carry. Something like the Gary Creely cru-wear Mako. Anyway, another great review!

I considered this knife for awhile, but eventually went with the CRKT Pangolin instead because I wanted corrosion resistance.

I don't know if this has bern covered, haven't finished this video yet or read the comments, but the device that attaches the sheath to belt is a super premium and popular item here in America for kydex fans. Much better than Spyderco G clip and spring steel clips, especially with top shelf kydex makers who are full time at it, like Yellow Hawk Customs Outdoors YHCO. It's called a tek lock. Its offered for sale by itself online at DLT Trading and Blade HQ. The company that offers it just did a major improvement which was after the release of Siwi. So its a very accepted and msinstream relied on item which is nice to see CRKT offer the best with this model!

  • @Errcyco

CRKT always seems to make a durable knife if nothing else. And, they have killer customer service. Dealt with them once on a small issue and they fixed that and sent an additional free knife as a sorry. Great people and blades.
I think my fav still is the M16-02SS and 04SS. You get bangers that will last a lifetime for $55 each. I spray them down in Tuf-Glide and I’m set.. they can do anything appropriate for the sizes.

love your channel, and your no bullsh!t approach to real world knife testing, would love to see more real world test, like clean a deer, cut up meat, how many fish can clean before a sharpening is needed, clean an entire moose w/o sharpening would be an impressive test, cutting up an entire tire into pieces , to toss out some ideas, keep up the great work keeping things real, btw you a bit of ok yourself

Glad to watch you review this Siwi! I considered it, but went with Boker Kommander for SK 5. I hope the thermal cycles were great because the design is solid and the steel is tough. Nevertheless I could do a self made knife hardened at perhaps Peter's from 8670 and get my own design and geometry. Cheers foe entertaining so well and so often while being relevant!
