- Yes, we love RC Cars, but we also love RC Boats; well we love anything RC really. But RC Boating is something we really enjoy doing and don’t really get to do it often. We’re not boat pros, but we have a ton of experience having fun with them. So when we got the opportunity to check out an Oxidean Marine boat, we jumped at the chance. What we have here is quick growing phenomenon in the RC Boat community, the Oxidean Marine Mini Dom. This boat keeps showing up in our social media feed and it’s for good reason, it’s impressive from its build quality to its performance. In this video we go over the features of the Mini Dom and give you plenty of close up views. Then of course we take it out for some action. This video has taken us several months to complete because of less than ideal weather conditions, but it’s finally done and we’re excited to show you the Oxidean Marine Mini Dom fast electric V-hull RC Boat!

I'm very fortunate to live right on a lake and I've never owned a rc boat but now this has me pumped to get one and try it! Looks like fun. I have a seadoo boat I could create some nice wakes to jump the boat. Bet it would soar through the air! I'm gonna grab this boat this spring. I'll use your link Greg!
Chris Watson Living on a lake must be awesome! Jumping boats off the wake of a real boat is a blast. Epoxy a little bit of foam to the hatch and inside the bow... just in case something happens 😁

First quick glance at the picture, I thought it was a FT011. Like the color of the stickers, yellow down to red.
I have never owned a rc boat... yet. My son is showing some interest and we have plenty of trucks. I am gathering parts for trailers maybe they will end up being for boats 🤔. The rock quarry we wheel at also has water!
ztwntyn8 One of the first things I did with this boat was put it on my RC4WD trailer. lol
I recommend a self righting boat for your kiddo if you get them one. Especially if you run it on a river. You'd be surprised how fast they can get away from you after a flip, and it isn't a matter of if, it's when. I've got a ProBoat Zelos and I've flipped it twice since I've owned it. 30 seconds after the second flip, it was out of sight. My brother was already in the water as he tossed me his transmitter to try to block mine before it floated away. We did catch it and we were both wet, but it's still a lot of fun.

What is the reasoning for the turn fin not being perpendicular to the hull's riding surface?
What size aluminium prop did you buy? I see they do 30 to 34 mm
Would you recommend this for someone who lives near the marina with flat to sometimes rolling gentle waves? my biggest concern is it's so light and it's like a hydroplane that it might not be the best versus a deep vhull. Appreciate it!!
Nope! This requires glass to achieve any high speed. Also you would likely destroy the whole drive system from the shock of the propeller speeding up and getting stuck in the next wave.
Self righting is all I'll buy from now on.
Did you notice if it took on any water after your run?
I don't see any drain hole/plug.

I have a Spektrum DX5C remote. What receiver is compatible with this boat and transmitter I have? Do you have a part number for the receiver?
Since the boat has no flex shaft, what does it require in terms of maintenance? Does the wire drive still need to be removed and greased after each run?

They'll need to make sealing the canopy more efficient than taping and re-taping before I'd invest. Is this a prototype?
PageMonster It’s a production kit. Taping the hatch is pretty much the standard for racing style hulls.
What's the average run time?
Not really into boats, but I am curious. If the battery dies and the boat is out in the middle of the water, how do you recover it? Is there 'get it back to the shore' reserve power or something?
Doug Sholly There is a noticeable drop in power. That’s your indication to bring it to shore ASAP.

I would have thought that would be standard.
Most of Oxidean products are rebranded TFL hulls, and motors are rebranded Leopard motors. Much cheaper to buy TFL. I have the zonda 41 and the carbon hull is identical to the animal cat from Oxidean. The TFL pursuit is the same as the full size dominator. If you want to pay more, by all means. However if all you care about is on par performance at half the price. TFL all day baby. That being said. The Oxidean is prettier, but decals are pretty cheap. The extra cooling offered by Oxidean is very easy to install yourself. Oh and the mini dom featured in the video is the same at the 17" Tenshock.
I'm not really a fan of the tape on hatch. Yeah it's good for racing as you can do what you need to in the few moments you've got between heats, but if that thing comes off, the boat will be sinking fast. Not sure there is enough space to fit enough foam to keep it afloat either. In my opinion that's a lot of money for a person not using it for racing for what it is.
Lane Waite Oddly enough in all my years of RC boating, I’ve never lost a taped on hatch. I have lost several clip on hatches in crashes. There’s just enough room in this boat to epoxy a little foam in the bow and to the hatch.

Hey bud I got the sonicwake 36 boat and I called Horizon Hobby to ask them what spektrum smart batts to get with it and they told me get the 5000mah 6s 22.1 100c so I bought them I plug them in and in less than a second they blew up in my face like a blow torch. it burned my face and hands and caught my work desk on fire. I Called Amazon and they were very upset and sent a email to horizon hobby and they have to respond to me in 48 hours. I was so scared!! I never had that happen to me. the boat burned the batteries and nearly my house burned but I have a good fire extinguishers to put it out. Im still very shook up bc I got burned the house got burned and the boat is destroyed and I just bought all of it. Idk what happen but they better take care of this bc it was insane.

Why did yo fail to mention that there is no watertight seal on the canopy therefore you must use tape to seal everytime you install canopy

Looks fun but too expensive. It performs like a 80 dollar fielun ft012 but at four times the price.
This boat is Literally Twice as fast, lasts longer, 4 times more durable, and a True race boat. The FT012 is a neat boat for the price but up against the mini-dom there is no true comparison.
I wasn't a fan of the 'wing' on that one, I have the FT011. Yeah it doesn't last long, but on a budget, it works out good.

These are Tenshock boats. Nothing to do with Oxidean.
You do realize that many brands put their labels on products from suppliers? And not just in RC. The suppliers product is tweaked to what the brand desires and sold under their name. So it is an Oxidean boat.
@@rcdriver Of course I realize people rebadged for a profit. But why buy something rebadged instead of the original? And why pay $144.00 more? These boats are really $249.00 all over Ebay or directly from Tenshock? Tenshocks are already fast racing boats right out of the box no mods needed. So Oxidean is not doing anything more to them to make better or faster. All I see is a price hike with no benefit.
@@Sweetaccord The fiberglass tenshock boats are $250 from china. The carbon fiber version is $350. The oxidean kit is $375. Your argument is poor. The oxi product is much nicer, has different options and support tenshock can't offer.
@@mastermnd22 Incorrect, look again. The basic Mini Dom is fiberglass not carbon fiber. It's the same boat as Tenshock just marked up. I have it. There is nothing more you get. It's the EXACT same kit. Even the hardware is all from Tenshock as is the motor designated as Vz1515. The design is all Tenshock also, the self-righting, hull, etc.
You maybe can get better support than overseas but that depends where you are as these boats have been reaced in Europe for a while now. Even Etti carries these.
Also these are not technically super advanced boats that you need major support and worth paying more unless you are a total noob and if you are these boats are not for noobs.
A lot of info is already out there for years on these boats nothing special. Even the ESC's with are just a rebranded Flycolor or a Hobbywing again no real reinvention of the wheel here just sticking a name on something that's already out there to make a profit. Again nothing special, unique or super amazing. 😒
Even the Motors are just Hobbywing. Taking a Honda and relabeling it a Lamborghini does not make it so. It's still a Honda. 😂
@@Sweetaccord you're absolutely incorrect. The mini Dom is available in fiberglass, carbon fiber, and Kevlar. Show me where I can buy one of these carbon fiber boats for $250. It doesn't exist. However you can clearly go to the oxidean website and see that the boats are carbon fiber throughout. The fiberglass version of the mini dom is $299. With far superior finish work done to the rigging. Post links.

Sick of seeing all these chinese boats rebranded for 4x the money. This boat used to cost $160 or $200 with the carbon hull. There’s not really anything new on the market for the past 15 years. This boat isn’t legal in any race classes in the USA it’s a joke.
To me, a boat would get boring after 5 minutes.
Well that’s how long a pack lasts so
