try adding some copper wires in the cylinder, it will act as a regenerator. Just a suggestion. but anyways, ur engine is one of the best models i have seen.. good job
Working cylinder is a mild steel, working piston is bronze the gap between is 0.005 to 0.007 mm.The weight of the flywheel is abot 150-160 grams. The cooling system has no any pumps- gravitational cooling ,you can see it on the movie .
Displacer is made of aluminium, power piston is mild steel .This is gamma configuration stirling and does not have regenerator .Model has gravitational cooling system .The tall brass cylinder is is a water tank .
Fantastic! Very nice work! Can you provide some info about the burner? I need to make one for my Stirling. How did you get the gas in the tank? How did you make the gas valve? Do you have plans you can send? Any help appreciated.
hi, im also in the process of building one. I already have a basic model of the stirling engine im gonna build. but only thing which I am not sure about is, how do I determine the size of both the piston, cylinder and the stroke distance... there should be some kind of ratio or calculations to determine it right??
hi, how did you manage to keep the air in the displacer piston from escaping. im thinking you should have some kind of piston seal in the area where the rod comes out from the displacer cylinder joining to the flywheel. or is it simply a join bushing without any seal?
hi, what is the thickness of part where youre heating? I am also currently building one but I am not sure if 2mm brass can take the heat or will it change shape due to the heat. thanks
Hi. Great work on the motor!! Congratulations!!! Regarding efficiency, I think FarceTheory is right. As efficiency in an ideal Carnot cycle is {1-[Tcold/Thot]}, if you calculate {1-[(Tc-1)/Th]} / {1-[Tc/(Th+1)]}, you get (Th+1)/Th > 1.
looks awesome, i dont get how the pump works though or i dont see water pumping, or does the water heat up and just rise up the blue tube. runs great thanx.
When harnessing the energy of a Stirling, The difference in thermal energy between 1 kelvin and 2 kelvin is the same as the difference between 300 kelvin and 600 kelvin. And 299k -600k is more powerful than 300k - 601k. right
I see, I am having some problems with my model. I can see the air inside expanding but the engine doesn't run. are you willing to have a look at my design and give your opinion?
Would there be any benefit to use the work created by this engine to actively pump cooler water to the coolant jacket? I would think you could also turn the flywheel into an air fan and mount a radiator near it as well. It's adding complexity, but would having a higher temperature differential across the displacer aid in work output?
+Boosted98gsx Ofcourse it is possible to mount the coolant pump but in this case the eficiency will not grow up very much, this model is to small .However the idea is correct.
unfortunately I don't have plans of that engine , I lost it somewhere, but I will make it (probably at the end of January), because many people asking me about it.MaxGaMyth
MaxGaMyth thank you max for the offer .This is exactly gamma configuration .Flaywheel weight is about 180g .Working piston diameter 17 mm,stroke 18 mm displacer piston diameter 21mm stroke the same as working piston .Displacer cylinder diameter (inner)23 mm (outer) 25 mm. I don't need the plans I have a model :) Good luck at work .
MaxGaMyth 1) The length of the cylinders are different .Working cylinder is 40 mm,the displacer cylinder length is 55 mm,the cooler(aluminium block) 20 mm .the total length of the displacer + cooler is 75 mm .Displacer piston length is 56 mm(it's about 2/3 length of the total length) 2) stroke is the same but it's not imposed, you can change it if you will take the other parameters of your project. 3) it doesn't matter,it was structurally simpler 4) not necessarily, crank could be different if you want .The important parameter is the the volume ratio between the cylinder and displacer Vd/Vc about 1.5 .As you know,it can change if you will change the diametr or stroke of the pistons .
Lovely, design! Very smooth finish, Mikruson. Can you tell me how much electricity can be generated out of the flywheel? also how much fuel is used for the fire? And whats the highest r.p.m. value you observed so far?
It produce about 0.3 - 0.5 W .Max RPM is 2000 . Fuel consumption (propan- butan gas lighter) about 10 cc per half and hour .Working piston i rather small ,only 16 mm diameter .
Is that quoted from the manufacturer or from empirical testing? I'm inclined to believe that engine should be able to pull more if much care is take to match impedances to the engines maximum power point, which may or may not be at its maximum rpm.
Great vid a little long but, You never took more advantage of the lower temperature of the Kelvin. Correct me if I'm wrong but one degree cooler is more powerful than one degree warmer.
Working piston and cylinder - it is cold side .Workind cylinder inner diameter 14 mm .Displacer cylinder inner diameter 18 mm,displacer outer diameter 17 mm .Displacer and working piston stroke is 15 mm .
Hi. I'm from Ecuador, I'm trying to do a small project to spend the first half and was very interested the Stirling engine; I clearly do not have the same steps and interests me the engine you've created. If you were so kind to help me with the steps and pieces that you used to create it. Whatever your answer in advance thank you.
you should check on youtube. there's plenty of materials made especially by russians about stirling engine and how to build one from household items ;) cheers!
***** The butane burner is made of piece of brass, nothing complicated if you know how the Bunsen burner works .Water cooler is the big brass pipe(container) with inlet and outlet for cooling water .This is gravitational cooling system there is no pump .
+Renard Williams In very short value I can change the RPM by the burner.Less heat less RPM (and less power) more heat, more RPM(more power).Exactly as ByteMe wrote.
Dear, I am looking for a manufacturer of a large Stirling engine, with capacity above 300 HP, could you inform me who manufactures this large engine, or who can manufacture it? Grateful!
Obrigado e like.
There is nothing special .Displacer cylinder head is made of brass 2mm thick .It is mounted to the block with screws M3. In the block milled cooling channel. at the bottom is the inlet on the the top is outlet of coolant .Cooling system gravitational .
Incredible the gas can expands and contracts so many times per minute, the change is made instantaneous, its realy exciting to watch.
Nice job. The water cooling helps a lot. Cheers Rob
I love stirling engines!
A beautiful machine. Nicely done!
Still amazed with your perfect construction, details and material.. Just like mass-pro manufacture standard..
Well Done buddy.. ;)
Thanks for kindly comments :)
Soon next models .
Very nice work! You are very delicate in your work. Final result; Great! :)
I was referring to the part which you are heating.. the part where the flame hits directly on?

Try to find this "NOTES ON HOT AIR ENGINES by Robert Sier."
what is the mechanism of the pump, and how is it powered?
nice machining!
wow, thats cool. what are the materials you used for the displacer and power piston?
very well done. may i know how you managed to control the speed of the flywheel. what do you manipulate to control the speed?
and the regenerator too. what material do you use? im amazed at your machine. never seen one like this...
Excelente motor, parabéns pelo acabamento e performance no funcionamento.

yea, thanks bro.. tried googling, but couldn't find anything useful... would you share with me if you have any useful info...
thanks

Interesting suggestion but for ideal Carnot cycle s not relevant higher-lower only the temperature difference between hot and cold side .
how long did it take to make this?
Great Job !!
really really nice!!! It probably can produce more power if it's cooled with ice/water :)

+Steven Granda Hi Steven, how can I help you?
Very nice 😊👍
The only control element is a gas burner. More heat higher rotational speed of the flywheel .
You have the design of all components with their dimensions to pass me
?
Have you had any corrosion problems due to Al + Brass + Water?
No,I had not .
great stirling engine
Have you done any experiments on the minimum temperature difference needed to continue motion?
I haven't done .But I am sure the difference must be higher compared LTD stirling models .
mikruson Szia !! Te tudsz ilyesmit csinálni??? Mert engem nagyon érdekelne!!! A gyermekeimnek is jobban tetszenek mint a mesefilmek!!!
+Gábor Kozonics Sajnos, ez nem játék a gyermekek számára, működő modell veszélyes a gyermekek számára a magas hőmérséklet miatt
yea ok, maybe you can give me your mail or do you have an idea of any other way how you can have a look at it...
The displacer cylinder is brass pipe 0.8 mm thickness
i am thinking of building a heat engine for my college physics class. I would appreciate any help you could give me. What materials/tools did you use?
you should check on youtube. there's plenty of materials made especially by russians about stirling engine and how to build one from household items ;) cheers!
Thanks ;)
How much rpm did it run upto??
Obrigado pelo seu simpático comentário
Very beautiful work. But you should put some rubber feet on it!!
That is a gorgeous little engine mikruson. Is it your own design? I would love to make something similar. Great job and thanks for sharing.
That's right it simply a join bushing without any seal(bronze bushing)
can i ask how you made that heat source? The butane holder?
*****
The butane burner is made of piece of brass, nothing complicated if you know how the Bunsen burner works .Water cooler is the big brass pipe(container) with inlet and outlet for cooling water .This is gravitational cooling system there is no pump .
Would you consider selling the plans or schematics of your engines?
I have no plans , I did it 3 or 4 years ago .So if you give me your email a will prepare sketch and few pictures
mikruson If u don't mind, would u kindly also send me..? :D
Greetings from Jakarta-Indonesia.. ;)

ÓTIMO MOTOR VERY GOOD MACHINE, BRASIL OK.
Is this for sale?
How much
It`s so beautiful!!!!
This is so cool.....is this for sale?
How much max RPM?
is there a pump for the cooling ?
+Adam Fletcher There is not any pump. This is gravitational ciooling system.
I thought so very nice engine
That is very cool!
Thank's for kindly comments
well done you criate the best
There is 1.5 mm thickness.
Nice work, so how does this work in cars. I'm kind of confused
Derick Somuah Boateng it doesn’t, they don’t use stirling engines in cars
Can i get the plans to build this? Or where did you get it if you didn't build yourself?
Ryan Holmes hi can you send me plans ir you sterling engine? My email...jesuswin2000@yahoo.es
Sorry I have not .The model is made a couple years ago .But you can ask what you want to know ,my by I can help .
What its price indian rupes .
How do you vary the rpms?
That's the problem with Stirling engines.
+Renard Williams In very short value I can change the RPM by the burner.Less heat less RPM (and less power) more heat, more RPM(more power).Exactly as ByteMe wrote.
How it works?
...hot air increases volume, cold air decreases volume
Do you have Stirling engine for sale ?
No I have not, this is just hobby
+Vyacheslav Gudkov
