Brook Benton was more than just a soul singer. He had the unique ability to combine rock, jazz, and soft rock with a soul full touch. He got to the heart of his songs with his charismatic voice and vocal punctuation. He was different, and he should have been inducted into the Rock ,n Roll Hall of Fame for his Calibur of music. I love hearing him sing. He reached out and touches you in your heart and soul. We as a music loving nation have lost in a lot of performers. That trait, like time, has come and gone. But will always remain in memory.
He was big in the 50’s and 60’s-early 1970’s. I loved his music as a young child, on. Many great songs from this man of incredible, talent. We lost him in the Late 1980’s. Too soon. Rap seems like it was a plot to block new talent from the 1990’s up, to the present.
Been listening to Brook since I came to this country in 1958. Such an incredible singer, entertainer. You can tell he loves singing, he loved the people who came to listen to him. A one in a lifetime talent.
I was fortunate enough to tour with Brook for two weeks in June 1972. I was in the USAFE Band in Wiesbaden, Germany and most of the band was away on leave. He was such a nice guy, a class act all the way. One of the highlights of my 49-year career as a pianist/keyboard player. Bobby Greene was musical director.
Brook was a very good entertainer, and storyteller! The fifties and sixties had a lot entertainers, dam he sounds just like the studio, but live u can't beat him! Lord rest his soul! Brook we will miss u sir!
I have followed this amazing singer's music for over 50 years. There will never be such a lovely relaxed music maker again. RIP Brook and thanks for the memory------.
Oh how much you have missed. I am now 81 and has been listening to him since I was 14 when the love of my life always sung his songs to me and he sounded with all the ranges almost like him. He's been my favorite singer, ❤️ him Mr. Benton.
I thank my parents for introducing me to this type of quality musc as a 9 year old little boy. In my opinion, Its such a shame you almost have to go back 30 to 50 years to appreciate and enjoy some real quality music.
His vocal "tenor": was un-touchable. Brook, Nat King Cole, Tom Jones, Sam Cooke, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Chris Isaak have all matched, or exceeded. He was GREAT!
Grew up with Mr Benton's voice as my major life soundtrack, thanks to my uncle Abie Williams. Thank you uncle Abie. Rest in peace. Thank you, Brook Benton. And thank you, uploader. I've always wanted to see Brook Benton performing live. This will do.
I recently visited my grandfather in Hamlet, NC where he gave me some history on his upcoming and his first cousin Brook Benton. Now I'm just blown away by discovering he is family. God i wish I could have met him. He passed a month before I was born.
I had the great privilege of backing up Brook back in '83 when he played at Lulu's Roadhouse in Kitchener. We started with the he Rainy Night in Georgia and 8 bars into the tune we fell apart... The man was the voice of an old Hickory tree, a bass Never to be heard again! Thank you Brook!
what an amazing singer. i remember seeing brook benton at the forty thieves club in bermuda in the early sixties. his personality and his voice was one of a kind. such a talent and thank god we have these songs to listen too. aa real class act.
He was the sound track of my life I grow up listening to this singers voice. The duets he did with the great Dina Washington and of course Rainy Night in Georgia. In the Army when it was in the airwaves I know the meaning of being alone traveling from Army Post to Army Pst very lonely at times.
Recently one of his recordings was used for a TV automobile commercial not that disco record Making Love Is Good For You but another one from an album in 66 think it's called Everywhere You Go. Later on I heard he became a minister later in his life.

Totally underrated. He had one of the best voices ever. He should have been the biggest singing stars in world. And he was handsome to boot.
You said it. He's the best male singer I've ever heard in my long life. And he loves it.

Yes , his live vocals sound exactly like the studio recordings . Very few singers can achieve that !
This man's voice belongs in the archives. Very seldom you find such a smooth and well rounded entertainer. Personally, I feel he was very underrated.
He was gone only a few years later. All my heroes are leaving. Brook had the most soulful , beautiful voice of all of them.
