Miss Nena I like your youtube, psychology Always interested me,as I noticed how David Lee and Paul S by themselves could make an audience feel and react and release. I'm new,but maybe like a topic was how others, fans, felt when the fave version of a group lost members over stuff other than death or sickness.cos when Peter and Ace left KISS I was bummed long time.thanks.

This has been fun. Has there ever been this kind of intense discussion about an album even before it came out? Not that I know of. I remember how fans (endlessly) analyzed Dylan & the Beatles, but that was afterwards.
This is a great marketing move. How calculated is it? And, if the album doesn't meet expectations, will it blow up in the band's faces? Will it be worth the wait? I expect it will be. These ladies have already proven that they know what they're doing.

I think in the past, we did not actually get to see the album covers before they came out, so we had to have the discussion afterwards. But I do agree that the level of interest they have been able to gain is something pretty extraordinary! :)

Thanks for the update on the artwork. You don't even want to know how many hours I've spent over the years, but especially when younger, examining every minute detail of album covers. I never thought it was any reference to the last supper, but thought about the Beggar's Banquet art. The have actually been a number of album covers with a similar banquet table spread. Below the Salt by Steeleye Span is pretty similar. I don't think it's a reference to any existing work, just a product of their active creativity. We're just going to have to hear the songs before knowing. We may even see interesting connections that the band themselves hadn't thought of. That happens all the time.

Another great reaction and analysis video, Nena!
I could be wrong but, based on a recent Spanish- language interview with Pau that I watched yesterday, I believe that she MIGHT have been the primary creative mind behind the concept and creation of the art for this album cover.
I say that because, in the interview, she revealed that she is producing, directing and even acting in the soon-to-be-recorded official music video for "Que' Mas Queres", the new Spanish song from the upcoming fourth album.
Most of us know that, basically, she's been the initial driving force behind the band's songwriting over the years. She has said that she sees her song and lyrical ideas as pictures in her mind for which she will often lay out in physical storyboards.
So, based on that, and saying in the interview that she's getting involved in additional areas of the creative process of and for the band, it wouldn't surprise me at all if that includes this cover art.
Lastly, I note that Pau is the dominant, aggressive figure and focal point in the center of this artwork. AND, she is armed and about to engage in an act of violence. The burning question is, who or what is actually her target and why? Hmmm . . .

    • @psychologyofrock

The girls love to send messages to their fans. Plus surprises The Warning Army.
Is this album a continuation of Error??
    No
Is the artwork spoofing The Last Supper??
    No
Why?? Before the band goes on stage. They do that huddle with their hands in the middle with their crew & goes one two three Warning. Just before Ale put her hand in the middle. She does a fast blessings of the cross (father son holy spirit). She wouldn't be part of mocking the last supper.
*So the last supper is out.*
My theory is simply a dig at Corporatism. The title of the songs are all on the cover. The dress men represent conglomerates. With The Warning with a *"CORPORATE LOOKING LOGO"* (stale boring looking). With the band destroying the conglomerate dinner party.
With Pau in the middle. Like she is on stage. Being on the table destroying the dinner. She's known for her *"SCREAM OF DESTRUCTION"* on Evolve.
With Ale to Pau's right (our left). She's more elegant in her style. She'll spill wine on you. Then walk away.
Dany to Pau's left (our right). She's more happy with the little things like a donut. Than with the corporate indulgence.
To me. The cover art is called *QUÉ MÁS QUIERES.. ("WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?")*
    Keep Me Fed.

@@psychologyofrock I don’t recall if you have ever mentioned Nightwish. They and The Warning are my favorite bands, and so different (or are they both just good story tellers?). Anyway their songs can be very poetic, and although not usually too hard to decipher, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen an in-depth lyrical breakdown.

As always, an outstanding and entertaining analysis.
As for the bird in the box, I just had the wonderful opportunity to exchange a couple of messages with Anton DeLost, the producer of Keep Me Fed (who apart from being a great professional seemed to me a close, humble and kind person, and made me understand why the girls connected so well with him), and who confirmed first hand what I already knew, or strongly suspected: that DPA has a strong opinion on everything, that nothing is done without their approval, and that the label has not forced them to do anything at all. Absolutely everything is the ladies' decision.
So that probably means that although the money is inside the cage, the bird may be close by... but outside. And free.

I think your analysis is spot on ...
    My two cents .
I personally think the artwork is exactly like the "new " TW sound ... Over-processed . That's a good thing . A lot of fans don't like the sound of the upcoming album ,and have stated the same .
I'll address the sound first .
TW as a whole have all signed off on the final outcome of the upcoming album. They were not manipulated by Anton to settle on the final results. Dany's vocals are almost unrecognizable compared to their live sound. But that's exactly what they were going for . They are just expanding their possibilities as Artists to use every tool in the toolbox.
And the fans are too quick to put judgement on their vision. TW are only on their fifth album , so way too soon to make a final verdict.
In twenty years we can properly discuss this album in their musical catalog. But not now .
Also , TW will ALWAYS sound better live simply because of one factor .....LUIS .
He is a sound engineer after all ...and during soundcheck he's calling all the shots .
    Now to the artwork .
The artwork ties in with what's inside. I completely agree with you that there are key elements that tie in with each song.
I also believe this was planned well . Just like the songs ...over-processed . In a very good way .
Because all their other cover artwork is/has been just a simple image. One that really didn't invoke discussion. Almost dull if you prefer. ..
Keep Me Fed changes that completely. It encourages the mind to wonder/think/analyze what imagery is in front of them . Especially true while listening to the entirety of the album. Like we used to ....
Any every time we stare at it . We have a different opinion of what we're looking at .
A personal experience example would be The Ramones debut album titled simply Ramones. To which they were just standing in front of a brick wall . We all just stared endlessly on it from the moment Blitzkrieg Bop started . Stopping only to flip it over to side B .
My apologies for the lengthy reply.

      @psychologyofrock  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hey Jeff! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! It is true that their sound is changing (at least the recorded sound), but as you said, the live versions keep with their original vision and we can't judge the full album until we hear it. Of course, they will have my support regardless because I think it is important for artists to grow and experiment to stay passionate about what they do. I heard Automatic Sun (live) for the first time today, and I loved it. Also, like you said, the new artwork is fantastic in that it inspires both thought and discussion. I applaud all they are doing :)

The banquet could also reference to "Don't you tell me?" Where they trash a finer dinner service? We have seen some references to japanese culture in some videos. Like Ale's fan in "More" and Pau's kind of "kawaii" dance on "Sick".
Very likely not... but who knows: they do know each other and are going to have a special concert together in Japan 12th of june (which is going to be awesome!! Especially Kanami seems very excited). Which also will give the sisters some exposure.

And to add to this, the album art had me immediately think of BAND-MAID's "Don't you tell me" video, that depicts the maids destroying a banquet/ball for rich people. Given that there are rumours that the girls may or may not have collaborated with BM already, or may in the near future when they go to Japan, I just find all these connections too much to just be a crazy coincidence.

I will also comment about the age difference, I am a 69 year old man and noticed a lot of older men commenting and at their shows. I have a daughter Dany's age and what I felt soon after discovering The Warning thru the 2015 "Enter Sandman" cover is like a parental pride seeing how hard they work and how much they love playing music. I admire their parents for their high level of commitment to their daughters and I can imagine how proud they must feel. I mostly listened to Classic Rock and Jazz and have recently started discovering Metal but now listen to The Warning daily because their music is so fresh and exciting. I especially like their early work XXIst "Century Blood" is still my favorite album.

    Hello Nena…
This picture represent the relationship between artists and the owners of the music industry.
The relationship between music industry owners and artists can be toxic because of the power dynamics at play. Owners often hold the resources and platforms necessary for artists to gain exposure and success, leading some artists to feel pressured to compromise their artistic integrity or well-being in pursuit of fame and financial stability. This can result in artists feeling obligated to comply with industry demands, even if it means sacrificing their values or mental health. In turn, owners may exploit this vulnerability to maximize profits, creating a cycle where artists are dependent on the industry for their livelihood while the industry benefits from their talent and labor.
Some artists as long as they are “kept fed” by the industry, they are willing to sacrifice their integrity.

@@psychologyofrock The feast itself is similar but I don't think the meaning of it is in the same universe of the stones or The Warning. The Warning loves us fans but I feel someday they are going to mess with us ( in good fun of course) and write a " I Am The Walrus" style song that makes no sense at all just to see what we think it means. Thank you for the great video ! It was very interesting to see what other people get out of the cover.
I totally agree on your opinion that the girls didn't reference the last supper for the same reasons as you.
I didn't pick up on the blue rose and the skinny pig. As the rose is a spiritual symbol it could symbolize the "divine guiding" that lead them to decide to become musicians and pursue their dreams. Concerning the pig, I like the idea that it could be referencing the haters. Going even further, as the two are so close to each other they may be linked and together symbolize that the girls will continue to follow their guidance and not sell themselves out for the money.
More was a great choice as a first single because it hinted at the album title. There may be even more hints there, so More would be another interesting one to analyse especially as the lyrics can't be taken at face value and I feel there's a hidden meaning there too.

I have seen most of the things my self but I did not make the reference with the last supper, because as already said, it could alienate some fans. Dany engulfed in eating a wedding cake can have several meanings. One is That during a interview nearly two years ago, the girls got the question if there where any boy friends, and Dany quickly answered that she "was married to a band!" Maby she is reaping the fruits of this marriage. She is enjoying it! This album cover is meant to be interpreted and make peoples mind go crazy, much like most of the songs they write. There is always room for interpretation. And something I have noticed is they have plenty of Easter eggs, like always.

Did you happen to notice the expressions and the eye lines of the "Execs"... from left to right: 1 (perhaps, the youngest) -> Pau with concern and a bit of surprise, 2 -> the Champaign Glass (or the camera) with disgust for the wastefulness, 3 -> Pau with Fear having never seen this behavior before, 4 (perhaps, the elder)-> Pau with expectation (will this display be something new that he hasn't seen before?), 5 -> Pau with contemplation of how she might be controlled or directed, 6 (the full glass) -> the Cake with a bit of incredulousness "Hey, you are ruining the party!"
The ladies eyes also show some intent. Ale, as you said, seems to be looking beyond the current scene but perhaps to her own desire somewhere off camera and seems to be there only in loyal support of her sisters... Tossing the Champaign as something unwanted. Dani on the other hand seems to relish the idea of having her cake... and taking that bite, while Pau is staring straight down at that flat pig aiming to make it flatter with her POWer.
Having just seen the Blue Rose in their latest music video Que Mas Quieres (What else/more do you want?)... without spoiling anything, it is a very significant item. Perhaps using the symbol as a ploy to gain the confidence of someone in order to get something otherwise unattainable.

Not about the cover but...there’s mathematical constant called Pi that we use to solve equations, mostly dealing with circles. There’s another constant we can use to solve the same things called Tau. Tau is 2 times Pi.
Last week was National Pi Day. Because Pi is 3.14 (March 14th). You’re supposed to eat pie on Pi Day.
Tau is 6.28 (3.14 *2). Making June 28th National Tau Day. You are supposed to two pieces of pie on Tau Day.
The new Warning album releases on June 28th (Tau Day), and it’s called “Keep me Fed.”
    Coincidence?
….Probably, but interesting none the less.

Despite the artist depiction of The Last Supper, Passover is a lavish feast with multiple glasses of wine and multiple courses of food (one between each required glass of wine, and we're not talking about the extra optional glasses of wine). The Passover Seder lasts until late at night because it takes that long to eat and drink everything. Even if you rush everything and sip the wine instead of drinking full glasses, it is not a quick dinner. Also, if you look at Keep Me Fed and The Last Supper, Ale's position and attitude seems to mirror that of the person to Jesus's left. Also, success is a kind of cage. They are becoming more successful and that means a lot of people are financially depending on them to keep making records/keep performing. Since they do care about their support team, this must be a pressure on them. Other young up-and-coming music industry artists have talked about this.

For me the cover has connections to religious paintings but not The Last Supper but Seven Sins: Gluttony. The sisters are both taking part and disrupting the feast. This may represent exactly you discovered in the Consume lyrics. Although I would not completely reject that it is also related to the Last Supper but in reverse: instead of poor disciples of Jesus we see rich people. And here also the sisters are both participating and protesting at the same time. So no blasphemy at all, but still a religious connotation (I say that as their fellow Catholic church member).
By the way, the pose Pau takes with the candle holder may be directly connected to the video of Que Mas Quieres (which Pau directed). It would mean that we see her exactly at the moment of the killing which happens off screen in the video (even as the rest of the picture ids not connected to it). A kind of Easter egg. The blue rose is another allusion to the video.
I write this with the hindsight of knowing the rest of the album. So kudos to you for guessing so much while knowing only three songs.

A ring in the wedding cake that Daniela is getting ready to eat. Above is Paulina getting ready to strike Daniela. I'm not sure if that means anything, but I posted a comment several years ago that the girls' only weakness is one of the girls finding romance. If you look at the breakup of many bands, is the introduction of a drama producing boyfriend/girlfriend. I don't follow the lives of The Warning, so I don't know if any of the girls have a relationship with someone. In one vlog, Alejandra mentioned wanting a boyfriend, and Paulina said NO. She's happy being single. Does Daniela have a boyfriend? Is it serious? It could mean nothing at all, too.

I'm guessing that you're probably a somewhat boring individual. Have a mediocre evening or day or whatever. 😁

You must have 1 boring life to waste time with theories about an album cover

I respectfully disagree. Pau was awarded Drumeo's 2023 Rock Drummer of the year, and Dany and Ale are incredible musicians as well - definitely not just basic…

I genuinely love her playing. I think she’s innovative and appreciate how well she can sing while playing riffs. I struggle with that.
