LoL... Nerds.
Dio's contribution to music was formidable, I appreciate his works either with Rainbow, Sabbath and of course the solo albums. Holy Diver stands out as one of my favorite records ever, and Rainbow in the Dark provides a sense of energy I can barely describe. Terrific song, Rock on Nena 🤘🏼❤️
Holy Diver is an amazing album - I agree! Dio was an incredible performer and human being. Hope you are doing great, Matt! 😊🤘🏻
@psychologyofrock I'm fine, Nena. Just a little more busy with work stuff 😅 but whenever you post new videos I make sure to watch it
Thank you so much, my friend! Glad you’re doing well! 😊🤘🏻
My wife loves rush but perhaps it's because I exposed her to rush
How fantastic that you have that connection! 😊🤘🏻
In spring 1988, just finished high school and preparing for my upcoming 15 months´ mandatory service with the German army, I mixed two tapes to help me through this - Accept, Slayer, Dio, Voivod, Celtic Frost, Metallica, Flotsam + Jetsam etc... I stick to this stuff until now, and will do until my last breath. That´s why so many bands love to tour Europe and especially Germany - the fans will never leave you. Maybe the clubs will get smaller, but front row will welcome you! 2025 will be forty years of me attending metal shows, I hope to celebrate this with Exodus, Doro Pesch and Destruction - they are still around, like me.
That's fantastic! The music we love becomes like a friend to us. :)
Rush fans tend to be people who listen to Rush, I notice. The ones who slag off Presto can go listen to Skrillex.
🤘😘🤘 rest in p0wer rjd!!
like anything he iz 0n but his s0l0 stuff iz 0n a diff level. ✌😉
Totally agree!!! 🤘🏻
Great analysis as always, on such an amazing song. DIO was a master of his craft, I agree with everything you said. I think he needed to unleash his full potential and on his own merit achieved legendary status. More song analysis, any of his would be great but I do love Holy Diver a lot 🤘♥️🤘
Me too! That one might be my favorite of all. What a song! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Flea-True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes
Hey Nena ! Great analysis as always ! Thank you so much ! This is a very empowering song, I loved it even before I could understand the lyrics. My favorite DIO song is between this one and Holy Diver, I can't really decide. I think it was a good decision for him to leave Black Sabbath as they weren't a good match. Once he started his solo career, he really got to shine and be himself. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be. And on the other hand, Black Sabbath also grew from that, as I think Ozzy is a much better fit to them. What do you think about that ? It may have been a painful process, but one that really benefited both parties. For a next song to analyse, I'd suggest Dust to dust by The Warning. It seems to be one that's here to stay as they still play it live and it is really powerful. Have a wonderful Sunday and start to the week 🤘🤗🤗💛💛
Hey Denis! I think Holy Diver is my favorite actually, too, but I also can't decide. I don't think Dio was a bad fit music-wise for Sabbath - his voice is amazing - but I think he did make it sound like another band completely. I like both. And then there were the personality conflicts. The only time I got to see Sabbath was with Ozzy, and he was amazing. I think without Ozzy, it should have just been named something different. As for Dio, I love every project he was involved with. I really admired him as a person and an artist. Have a great week ahead!
My favorite Dio song is Stand Up And Shout!!! 😊😊😊😊
😊🤘🏻
Cynic and Death Are my progressive Deathmetalbands
😊🤘🏻
It kind of makes sense!!! When he was in the band ,Rainbow, Ritchie Blackmore, was the leader of the band and the big star of the band!! He had to answer to Ritchie so to speak!!! Problems started when Ritchie wanted the band Rainbow to move in a more radio friendly commercial direction!!! So he wanted Ronnie to stop singing and writing about dragons and other fantasy and sci-fi themes!!! Dio said that's the way he writes so his tenure in the band ended. In Black Sabbath I think 🤔 Ronnie had to answer to Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, they called the shots!!! I think Ronnie felt insecure and felt artistically tied down!!! Also, Ronnie was NOT the typical stereotype lead singer frontman. 😮 EX: David Lee Roth, Jon Bon Jovi, Roger Daltry, Vince Neil, Rick Springfield etc. Ronnie was a short diminutive in stature and not known to be a handsome cutie boy!!! But he had an awesome singing voice and great songwriter and a theatrical stage presence!!! 😊 Well, there's my two cents!!! Have a great day Nina!!! 😊
Great commentary, Michael! I agree! So wish I had gotten to see him live! 😊🤘🏻
@psychologyofrock I saw Ronnie live once when he hooked back up with Black Sabbath again in the 2000s!!! But they called themselves Heaven And Hell instead!!! They played a show with Testament, Motorhead, and Judas Priest!!! They came on stage right before Judas Priest!!! But they played a full headling set!!! Hour and a half!!! Spectacular show!!! Then Ronnie passed away 😢 😞 💔 a few years later!!!
@psychologyofrock I wish that I could have seen Dio during the Holy Diver or Last In Line Tours!!! That was Dio in his creative prime!!! My Mom didn't let me go to Rock concerts until I was 15 years old!!! LOL 😆 🤣 I am 53 now!!! The 80s was an awesome time for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock!!! 😃 😊 😀 😄
That's amazing! The only time I saw Sabbath was with Ozzy, but it was a fantastic show!
Great insights! Interpretaion of english spoken lyrics aren't easy for me, beeing german. Always tried my best, but...
So many great German bands 😊🤘🏻 I think sometimes we call “feel” what the music is saying, even when it’s in s different language!
@ Narcisita by The Warning is an example! Although my spanish goes as far as: "Yo no hablo espanol" = I don't speak spanish. I looked up the story behind it... Think of Eivor Palsdottir: do I speak faroese? Nope! watched her for the 3rd time live, last fall. Her new album is a great test for the low frequency range of our loudspeakers, btw. Pls take that album and listen 2 it on different stereos. They seem to have "played" with very low frequencies on most of the tracks of the album.
Great example! :)
Nena: you should listen to Roger Glover's "The butterfly ball and the grasshoppers feast". A book for children, that Roger made a musical about. Love is all! was the song, where RJD was singing the frog. Absolutely epic! Cheers from the far north of Germany!
Wow!!! I will check it out! 😊🤘🏻
@@psychologyofrock I think of the whole story of how this came together is amazing. That was back in 1974-ish. Just looked it up: it's mentioned on wikipedia. Enjoy!
Very cool!
Ronnie himself said that he tries to find a place to use the word Rainbow in every song that he could.
That’s right! Didn’t they officially complain about that? 😂🤘🏻
@psychologyofrock I'm not sure about that, but it sounds reasonable. Rainbows we're just his thing.
I believe Iommi tried to get him to stop
PART II 😁 WOW!! If you are right about the Sabbath (Iommi) rift,,, that means Tony messed up twice yet thankfully so!! 😊 Thanks Tony!! ☯️☮️
Thankfully they put it past them later on and went on to create more great music together 😊🤘🏻
Great album. I'm hoping you are wrong about the "No one seeing his Greatness" vanity idea instead of just him the humble person. Shamefully never delved into the lyrics but always figured as one chasing Rainbows 🌈 but never catching the impossible,,, more far fetched is catching one in the dark!! Miss the DIO!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Hey Allen! I miss him too! I thought he was genuinely an incredible person in addition to being an amazing person. Glad we still have his music 😊🤘🏻
@@psychologyofrock Yes and great Job on your analogy!! I am A,D,D to the 10th don't catch lyrics to well. Rainbows in the dark! ☮️
I have ADHD as well 😊🤘🏻
@psychologyofrock I'm jealous. I wasn't granted the "H"!! ☮️
Lol, in the case of women, the hyperactivity is usually internal 😊
Very young Vivian Campbell before he was stand in on whitesnake 87 album and joined def leppard in 92
Hey David! How is everything? 😊🤘🏻
@psychologyofrock Everything is great thank you nena
Happy to hear it!
What a image ‼️ The RAINBOW and Sabbath album covers‼️🤘🏻
😊🤘🏻 glad you enjoyed!!!
Have you ever done an analysis of Mudvayne? The depth of Chads lyrics tend to get over looked by the presence and musically of the band. But songs like Forget To Remember are so much more. Just an idea.
I haven’t! I’ll look deeper into them! 😊🤘🏻
Great analysis! I'm sure someone has another interpretation but I can't see anything else.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you are doing fantastically well 🤘🏻
Let me know if you agree with this analysis and what the song means to you. What is your favorite DIO song?
Favorite ❤️?? Not sure what one's he wrote but vocaly; CHILDREN OF THE SEA,, WISHING WELL,, DIE YOUNG,,, MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN,,, Yep!! One of these is my most very favorite!! ☯️☮️
Last in Line We Rock Man on the Silver Mountain Children of the Sea and a few others 🤘
Ronnie wrote the Greatest Lyrics & told Fantastic Stories with his Words!
last in line 🤘😘
The whole 2112 "A" side was my melancholic childhood. It came out just after I lived through a traumatic era and resonated. After that, I got hooked by Neil's genius. R.I.P. to the best "Percussionist" the world has ever seen. I hold rush as equal to Mozart !!
Same! :)
Geniuses, rocket scientists, billionaires, studs and overall world changing types.

For me is Metal a positive way to deal with my frustration, pain and aggression. It gives me the power to talk about those things.
Totally agree! 😊🤘🏻
They also like weed, lol, speaking mostly of myself back in the day
Intelligent rock and intelligent lyrics !!
😊🤘🏻
We are charming people too.
😊
I’m a very big fan of Rush, however, there are some real die hards out there on another level. I was fortunate enough to see R40 in Dallas Tx. Outside the venue there were some of the best air drummers I’ve ever saw on the streets and in line nailing the air drum solos. I also was blessed with upgraded seating from nose bleeds to 12 rows back from center stage. That was the Kuhbla Kahn of the Pleasure Dome 😂. Great people with lots of stories of the multiple times they had seen the band over many years. One of the best concerts I have ever attended. Shout out to the Die Hards! Made me an even bigger fan!
😊🤘🏻
Slayer, since 1985. I'm 54 now.🤘
