@@Jomoplays I get the importance of the moment, but the buildup just wasn't there for me. It saved the ending of punk hazard because Kuma showing up was a good twist, but that moment doesn't tug at my heart the way the other moments do.
This section of the story is the greatest highlight of the series! 1. The whole crew in front of the tower of justice. 2. Robin flashback. 3. Luffy declaring war to the world goverment. 4. Usopp shooting the flag. 5. Luffy asking to Robin to say she wants to live. 6. Robin saying she wants to live (top moment). 7. Franky burning the blueprints to an ancient weapon. 8. Kokoro and the train. 9. And finally the mugiwaras jumping to the waterfall to ride the flying train to the tower of justice. Gold One Piece moments.
Also one of Luffy’s leadership moments. Declaring the war on the government was necessary to show resolve that he is shouldering his crewmembers’ problem as if it was his own problem. As I remember in the early days of the Straw Hat crew when Nami ‘left’ the crew, what Zoro said was ‘let’s just find another navigator’. At the early days, the Straw Hats joined more like just for their own dreams and their own desire. While they do fight for each other, they still don’t have the deep trust and faith in each other like Luffy that made him refused to leave Cocoyashi village even at Nami’s behest. Fast forward a few sagas is the result of Luffy’s leadership. The fact is that he cultivated this spirit of fighting for your friends among his crew through example and other factors that now, not a single member of the Straw Hats flinched when Luffy made the decision that Robin’s enemies are now without u-turn their enemies too. All of them refused to leave Robin even at her repeatedly making it clear she wanted them to leave her, in contrast to Cocoyashi Village, where only Luffy insists on not leaving Nami.
its interesting how both nami and robin are sorta bad at first and luffy legit both times gets into extra trouble by helping them...when he saved nami he did not care that it led to his bounty or being hunted by the gov. he was not sweating it and with robin he took it up a level he declared war on the world itself for robin...
@@razkable , Luffy isn’t a person that pretends to be a noble hero like Garp or Goku from Dragon Ball, so his reactions on him getting excited for a higher and higher bounty by fucking with the Marines and the World Government themselves makes complete sense because unlike Garp, Goku, Naruto, etc etc Luffy just doesn’t want to be exactly the same as White Beard, Roger, and Shiki, but he wants to surpass those people that came before him, and you see that clearly in MarineFord War in the manga perfectly because MarnieFord War in the manga was just Enies Lobby on steroids, and even though his older brother died he was still able to train with Rayleigh for 2 years to protect people like Law, Nico Robin, Sabo, and Eustass Kid.
@@merienda4958 yeah, I'm not sure if I were correct, well to load the slingshot you have to pull back, so I went with that, help me native English speakers,
there's another moment somehow is related to this one it's when kuma was shattering the crew one by one ... although this moment is super strong and impactful by it's own but when kuma was about to hit robin she reached out her arm to luffy and shouted his name in despair.. it's a small moment in the grand scheme of things but it shows how she sees him as a source of trust and protection
Yo. When do you think people die? When they get shot in the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they get ravage by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom? No. It's when... they are forgotten
I have battled with my depression for years, and something about Luffy yelling "Say you want to live" did hit emotionally. Then Robin yells "I want to live" I couldn't help but think how much it helped me; even now I love the since because it reminds me of how far I've come with my depression
This moment gave me chills. The voice acting is impeccable, you can hear all the pain she's lived tgrough when Robin finally says she wants to live. Even now writing this shivers ran down my spine remembering it. Easily one of my favorites second only to the loss of the Merry.
I love that its Usopp who tells Robin to believe in Luffy... and I also love that he's the one who actually saves her Usopp and Robin are my #1 and #2 characters before this arc started so seeing it involve them both for similar reasons just made it that much more painful.
Maybe he referred to the doubts Robin had in her heart. Or maybe yeah, it's a reference to what Ace said "I dont understand what killed Sabo but he wasn't free" or something like that
Robin proclaiming she wanted to live was definitely an emotional moment, but I think my first tears in the series were when chopper accidentally gave poison to Dr. Hiriluk. It was so sad to see how devastated he was to learn he wasn't being the great doctor he thought he was, but how Hiriluk didn't hold it against him, and was compassionate enough to let Chopper think he did good.😭
Chapter 398 has two of the greatest moments side by side. Digging into shooting the flag a little deeper, we know Luffy didn't make that order thoughtlessly. Oda showed us EXACTLY what Luffy thinks about flags, the symbols they bear and what they represent in Drum Kingdom. He knew exactly what it meant to shoot the World Government's flag and didn't even flinch.
In my perspective, the robin scene works both ways, it is a message for Robin, it shows her that she is 100% part of the crew, but it works also for the reader/viewer, we feel the same way than Robin and we join the crew as a member, a Nakama. The power of Oda is that he made me join the straw hat crew at that moment
This scene is what made the Water 7 Saga my favorite pre time skip section in One Piece. This was the first time I cried, and I cry every time I watch or read this scene.
Another amazing scene is Bink's Sake + Brook joining the crew. Brook's backstory is one of the most underrated backstory in all of One Piece. I mean he was all alone on a broken ship for 50 years with all the corpses of his nakama on he same ship... He basically got so depressed that he started to develop his weird sense of humour to keep him at least a bit sane. After all that, he finally met the strawhats... his new family
You really succeeded to honor this scene. If I had one criticism to make, it would be that it didn't speak enough about the personalities of the characters themselves and the duality that exists between Luffy and Robin. Luffy is a very candid, always excited and carefree character while Robin is his exact opposite, a very calm, reserved, intelligent and thoughtful person who doesn't reveal her feelings easily. Robin and Luffy are certainly the most opposed characters of the crew. This is also why this scene is so intense, because Robin is used to not reveal her feelings, and the reason why seeing her passionate at this moment is so impactful. This is why I think only Luffy, being as straightforward as he is, could help Robin to reveal what she really wanted. The duality between the two was at its peak during this scene and this is why I love it so much.
When franky cried, and said he loves the crew, I fell in love with him. He was my favorite pre timeskip, just from that and "I LOVE THAT FREAKING SKELETON"
Hi, *Ohara.* This moment truly cemented Nico Robin as one of the Straw Hats and as a friend. They LOVE her. They CARE for her. They want to PROTECT her. The late Jaguar D. Saul's final words came to fruition and got Robin out of the darkness that the WORLD put her in for 20 years. I loved her ever since I saw her in the anime the first time and...her whole early life was a real nightmare. And all the obstacles she passed on with holding the hope to one day meet people who can accept her and not be treated as a *burden.* This is another great scene and my personal favorite in One Piece. P.S: The moment you'll discuss may hit deep waters since Marshall D. Teach is an evil enigma that no one hasn't solved just yet.
You have to do the moment in marineford when Luffy makes its to the top of the wall and throws the wood then breaks it to attacks the 3 admirals!! That moment is so insane and dope 💯.

For me another amazing moment in Enies Lobby that fully adds up to this one, is Robin clinging on to the stairs with her teeth. The way Oda changed her I wanna die and don't trust anyone mood, to doing the most physically painful thing just to buy her captain a few extra seconds because she has complete faith in him getting there on time gives me goosebumps every time
I always think water 7 and ennies lobby as inseparable arcs. Water 7 was in my opinion the lowest point for the crew and they just build themselves up and delivered on ennies lobby. It was so hype when Straw Hats declared war on the world government.
Hey Ohara!! I'm a big fan from brazil, your job here is amazing!! The way you talk about one piece is unique! We dont have a channel like that in brazil! That moment of Robin is one of l love most!
Same here, Brazil has properly discovered One Piece in mid 2010s, we lack clickbaitless content and this level of love for the work that you provide. As a huge fan myself, Arigato.
what gave this whole scene the coolest touch was the smoking style of sanji.. with his hairs waving in wind ... just that style gives such an enormous confidence boost .. oh godddd!!... (No one notices such small things but in back of the mind this is what gives a sense of confidence in the strength the crew has .. even though we don't realise it consciously)
It is for sure incredible when a scene in any form of media gives you goosebumps, but it is a lot more incredible that this scene in particular(at least for me) can give you goosebumps so many times as you rewatch it from time to time.
another great moment of silence is when Sanji is standing outside and hears Charlotte berating him. He just stands there, trying to light his cigarette to no avail. My second favorite moment after this scene
Holy shit I can't wait for the next video, it's my favorite scene in the whole series. Not only does the "Dreams never end" speech have more meaning now with the revelation that Black beard doesn't sleep, there are also implications of multiple people being inside him . The way luffy looks at him is like saying that he has already seen his final nemesis and zoro even notices it.
My favorite thing about the “going from the darkness to the light” thing from the anime is that Robin isn’t the one moving into the light; the darkness is completely obliterated by the light of the Straw Hats fighting to keep her in their lives
I am in tears again. After following one piece for so many years and now looking back with such details and insight gives me chills. Great work man. Love this series.

Absolute, massive props to both the English and Japanese voice actors that portrayed Robin during this scene. Doesn’t matter the language, you can feel the sheer, absolute emotion pouring from this character as she finally gets to scream the one thing that she’s been denied her whole life. To people that she firmly believes, in that moment, will never turn their backs on her. I well up every time.
Love the video's Ohara. I played this as I did dishes and seriously gave me so many memories and nostalgia for this part of the story. You don't miss a beat that Oda wrote, and you help elaborate parts to help people better grasp or reimagine the seriously memorable parts of this amazing story. When I was first watching the standoff part, I loved how Franky was up there obviously apart of the crew now. Really helped me grow to like Franky.... Also hilarious interaction between nude Franky and Robin's Devil fruit power at the end of the Arc, absolute GOLD.
It really is such a good scene. In an arc of a lot really good scenes. The farewell to Merry part of the arc was beautiful too. It was just right seeing the crew marching up there and finally getting Robin to open up. It worked for all the reasons listed here. One of those moments that makes you want to rewatch a whole arc.
I haven’t even watched one piece chronologically but even from the simple premise, of literally declaring war against the World for ONE friend is powerful
OMG YES!!! 😭😭😭 the video if finally here 😭 and as always the analysis was just amazing 😭👏🏼 and personally, to me the silence of the crew in this scene has always spoken to me louder than anything else in this show. I feel like the straw hats all represent different struggles and personalities, so just about anyone can relate to atleast 1 crew member, and for me its Robin. I feel like I've yet to overcome the mental barriers I set on myself, and just showing the crew standarding there in full support, just felt inntimate even personal in a way. It was almost like seeing my happy beginning being played out before my eyes via this story. I think thats probably why this scene always hits home and is easily one of the most iconic scenes in OP 😭👏🏼 To me this and zoros scene are the most memorable ❤ and I mean that in the way that I see myself in robin, wanting to be accepted, and wishing to be more like zoro, by protecting what I've found with everything i have. OP honestly just teaches you so much without even knowing lol thats why i love this show so much ❤ Thank you ohara for the video, keep up the great work 🤗
I feel like the CP9 mirroring the straw hats during that scene gives a sense of respect from both sides. Like as fucked up as their ideals are they are fighting for their justice or what they believe is the right course of action (aka follow blindly the world government or for lucci killing people). I'm not saying they actually feel that way but that's how the scene portrays it and it creates a sense of epic for the battle ahead that I don't think can be replicated with characters that don't show that level of respect and seriousness.
I remember back in 2007 when I started reading the manga, I wasn't completely sold on the story and characters until they went to fight Arlong. When Nami says "Help me" to Luffy and he says "DAMN RIIIIIIIGHT!!!!" that scene is gold. And then I distinctly remember reading the manga at work on a slow Sunday morning when Luffy busts through the gate and then just up and punches Arlong once he declared he was Arlong. That scene made me love Luffy and the series as a whole. And then yes, the Ennies Lobby scene with Robin shouting she wants to live is also another moment that you just can't find in any other anime
Really a great job Ohara. I think this is my favourite moment in One Piece, that cemented Robin as one of my favourite characters and the Water 7/ Enies Lobby Saga as my favourite ( and then there are the fights, usopp's speech and the going merry😭) There are a lot of iconic moments in one piece but this is always the first that comes in my mind. It' s just a great work of writing for the development of the characters and the story ( the mugiwara vs the world for a friend , simply beautiful). Thanks for this great video
luffy is the definition of a captain and a friend. He sticks by his crew and friend and he doesn't care if he has to go against the world to keep them safe. This dude has such a great outlook on life for just being a 19 year old kid. Broken and Torn apart he will fight for you once you mean something to him. And that's either as a friend or an enemy. What a guy
Ennis Lobby showed us Luffy at his strongest, motivation wise, and is accentuated further by the later Impel Down and Marineford Arcs. And it juxtaposes so well with the Post-War arc, where we see Luffy at his lowest point, broken and seemingly defeated. Ennis Lobby was necessary setup for what became Luffy’s toughest challenge: facing failure head on.
Hopefully along with Blackbeard's speech, you go into the stuff Luffy and Zoro say about him. No theories but the fact Luffy and Zoro are capable of understanding someone's true nature. But I can't wait for that video to drop either way.
i love my girl hinata from naruto a lot but when people say robin had a better more impactful story arc from a writing stand point, i say..yeah your probably right ..hard to argue....thats big praise coming from me a hinata stan...robin had a incredible backstory

Finally someone speaks about Robin scene at Ennis Lobby, the voice actress of Robin deserves lots of praise for her interpretation.
Both the og Japanese and English dub VAs really nail that moment.
@@Stormkrow280 Stephanie Young is better and the star ip voice of the arc.
Luffy impossibly getting back up and jet gattling Lucci.
Holy crap!
!!!!

That arc made me a One Piece fan
there's another moment somehow is related to this one it's when kuma was shattering the crew one by one ... although this moment is super strong and impactful by it's own but when kuma was about to hit robin she reached out her arm to luffy and shouted his name in despair.. it's a small moment in the grand scheme of things but it shows how she sees him as a source of trust and protection
Robin "i refuse to live"
Luffy " i refuse your refusal"
You need to do the ''Sakura Blossoms light up the sky'' scene from Drum Island.

I love that its Usopp who tells Robin to believe in Luffy... and I also love that he's the one who actually saves her
Usopp and Robin are my #1 and #2 characters before this arc started so seeing it involve them both for similar reasons just made it that much more painful.
Have do you ever thought that Luffy’s words “I understand Robin’s enemy very well”, maybe he based them in what Dadan said to Ace after Sabo’s death?
“i can’t become the pirate king without you” next?
blackbeard speech at mock town
In my perspective, the robin scene works both ways, it is a message for Robin, it shows her that she is 100% part of the crew, but it works also for the reader/viewer, we feel the same way than Robin and we join the crew as a member, a Nakama. The power of Oda is that he made me join the straw hat crew at that moment
My favorite moment of the whole series makes me cry everytime hell I wanted to save her myself
Next 'Luffy punches a celestial dragon'
The most satisfying punch in any medium.
@@Surfermario Totally agreed

This scene never fails to give me goosebumps when Robin shouts "I want to live!"
Please do “When does a man die” next
The best One Piece scene ever. There's no other scene as impactful as this one. Really brilliantly explained Ohara. You're a genius
TRUE. MAN THIS IS MAKING ME TEARY EYED
I loved her ever since I saw her in the anime the first time and...her whole
early life was a real nightmare. And all the obstacles she passed on with holding the hope to one day meet people who can accept her and not be treated as a *burden.*
This is another great scene and my personal favorite in One Piece.
Oh you mean the scene where luffy constantly gets carried by other characters because his too weak to fight any character present there? :p
@@troillandford7679 Yea! Exactly 👏🏾. It's great character development especially after we've just witness him lose his entire crew. Its just another reminder of how far he has to go. N it developed the world some more. Great scene 👌🏾
I cry every time at this scene even in this video
frik dude was tearing up already before you said to get tissue ready... thouse moments give me goose bumps and tears and shivers every freaking time... Oda is just a ledgend when it comes to that! #hailOda xD
Ennies Lobby is my favorite arc. Robin shouting “I want to live!” really strikes me the most as people nowadays gives up easily on their lives.
Hey Ohara!! I'm a big fan from brazil, your job here is amazing!! The way you talk about one piece is unique! We dont have a channel like that in brazil! That moment of Robin is one of l love most!
Obrigado!!🦊
Glad you guys there are enjoy this. *Ohara* rocks!
Same here, Brazil has properly discovered One Piece in mid 2010s, we lack clickbaitless content and this level of love for the work that you provide.
As a huge fan myself, Arigato.
@@johnqueroga8630 Aw man you guys make me miss Brazil now
what gave this whole scene the coolest touch was the smoking style of sanji.. with his hairs waving in wind ... just that style gives such an enormous confidence boost .. oh godddd!!... (No one notices such small things but in back of the mind this is what gives a sense of confidence in the strength the crew has .. even though we don't realise it consciously)
It is for sure incredible when a scene in any form of media gives you goosebumps, but it is a lot more incredible that this scene in particular(at least for me) can give you goosebumps so many times as you rewatch it from time to time.
the best moment is saying goodbye to GoingMerry. it still make me 🥺 when I watch it
Wow, that's actually good work. I can only imagine how much effort was put in.
My favorite quote of the entire Manga:
People's dreams never end!
👀
“I want to live” is such a great and emotional moment that a lot of us can relate to.
another great moment of silence is when Sanji is standing outside and hears Charlotte berating him. He just stands there, trying to light his cigarette to no avail. My second favorite moment after this scene
my top 5 One Piece moments
1. I want to Live!
2. nothing Happened
3. Going Merry
4. "Luffy, help me"
5. Ace's Death
Are you gonna eventually do a video about mother caramel's picture and Big Mom's backstory?
LinLin crying out for her mom makes me cry everytime.
I love your choice of music for your videos!
Wow, thank you!
Although my fav moment is merry's death, but I think Whitebeard's death would make an amazing video for this series
I am not sure who is my fav one piece youtuber after coming across Mr. Morj very recently but i can that you both are top 2. While your videos are affect me mentally and tug at my heart strings , Morj's videos affect my brain and make me think . XD
Anyways you always live up to the high standards you set. Keep up the good work mate.
"I want to live", it's just four words but they make me tear up every time.
I HAVEN'T WATCH IT, BUT THIS!!! THIS IS THE BEST MOMENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Well o year after your video Oda made us cry about a drawing in an already drawn story. Ryunosuke - Lost but never forgotten
man just remembering this after so many years puts tears into my eyes.
Robin's voice actress for the dub makes it even more impactful for me, just the way she delivers the lines gives me goosebumps even thinking about it
thats what i needed rn
not sure if you did this in the last one as well but putting that teaser at the end is such a good idea ! im already hyped for the next one lmao
Funny, as I heard Luffy's scream to Robin and Ohara saying "goosebumps", I turned to watch my arms and yep, I already had goosebumps lol.
The voice acting elevates the scene soooooooo much. So good
This one is my favorite One Piece moment. It always makes me tear up. Fantastic job analysing why it is so iconic. Love your videos!
It really is such a good scene. In an arc of a lot really good scenes. The farewell to Merry part of the arc was beautiful too. It was just right seeing the crew marching up there and finally getting Robin to open up. It worked for all the reasons listed here. One of those moments that makes you want to rewatch a whole arc.
i can't even stop crying while watching this video.. even after 10 years, the momories hit me hard everytime.. it's really my best arc till now
Dude yes! Ohara keep up the great work. Love your content
I think thats probably why this scene always hits home and is easily one of the most iconic scenes in OP 😭👏🏼
To me this and zoros scene are the most memorable ❤ and I mean that in the way that I see myself in robin, wanting to be accepted, and wishing to be more like zoro, by protecting what I've found with everything i have. OP honestly just teaches you so much without even knowing lol thats why i love this show so much ❤
Thank you ohara for the video, keep up the great work 🤗
There is also a scene when the strawhats are standing in front of robin. She feels the wind blown to her face as if the ocean itself is calling her.
the silence and determination on the straw hats tell robin everything she needs to know. That they are completely in it with Luffy to save Robin.
every time I watch this part 5:23 I'M SHAKING!!
Nico Robin I want to live is everything. (aokij say as long she lives Ohara will not forget yet.
The music too, such perfection 🔥
Me starting my day by crying all through this vid. This scene is so good that even the analysis of it has me bawling.
Your channel is truly underrated, keep up the good work, I love watching your videos !!
Glad you like them!
I love your videos Ohara as much as I love to watch anime . Because to me your analytica videos and anime are inseparable🤝.
Love your work man. Literally brought back the goosebumps back from the day i first read the chapter.
luffy is the definition of a captain and a friend.
One of my personal favorites is Luffy punching the celestial dragon at the sabaody auction house. Hit him so hard he turned an anime into a manga lol
Hopefully along with Blackbeard's speech, you go into the stuff Luffy and Zoro say about him. No theories but the fact Luffy and Zoro are capable of understanding someone's true nature. But I can't wait for that video to drop either way.
This should be called “The best one piece moment revisited”
Zoros nothing happened is the best for me 100%
I guess it's a series

Usually, I'd have a thing or 2 to comment about a video.
Except, after watching the whole thing I felt compelled to thank you for taking the time to do this.

Luffy's instinct is top tier. He knows deep inside, Robin, Nami, and Sanji wants to be rescued and Usopp truly wants to leave
I’m loving this new series of videos a lot and can’t wait for more, a smaller channel SephTheSin did a few similar videos on the Luffy vs Sanji scene and the Kuma vs the Strawhats scene which are also quite good, keep up the good work
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think the dub did a pretty good job portraying Spandam.
I love the lightning strike scene from Loguetown so much.Hope you make a video of that in the future.
