I'm european and pretty much prefer "topsy turvy". I'm starting to think I didn't buy this when it was out because I couldn't read "universal gravitation" when I was 10 😂
Probably out of all of the stories in any Yoshi game, this actually has the most biggest plot. Maybe I'm wrong but just to me I see. I never hear many people talk about this game, so I appreciate you reviewing this. I heard mixed feelings on this and I'll be honest, I was surprised with the graphics in this game. It's way different from the box art, I expected to be more similar to Yoshi's island on the DS, forgot the name sorry..
Well here is a new patch: NA: www.advanscene.com/html/Releases/dbreleases.php?id=2001 EU: www.advanscene.com/html/Releases/dbreleases.php?id=1947 EDIT: You will need to have a ips patcher EDIT 2: THX for pin Framerater
great review, I love your reviews of older, more obscure video games. Would you be able to review a game called Lostmagic? It's a very obscure DS game with an interesting mechanic where you draw symbols on the touch screen to cast spells.
Oh right... Yoshi Games are all romps into Fetish Fuel territory. So when reviewing a Yoshi game, you need to ask the following questions: 1) What fetishes does this game hit off? 2) How well does this game hit them off? 3) How easily can the people who are into these things play them? For example, Yoshi's Island DS is for babies. I mean... it is for Adult Babies. I'm able to play it because it includes the the part with the Velicoraptor running around eating people (which, thank you Minus8 for drawing what I typically imagine most of the people being eaten by the Velicoraptor as looking like). I'm able to put up with the Adult Baby orientated content in the game... provide I don't get lost. Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's New Island are mostly just games that feature Vore, Feederism, Explosions and Transformation type stuff. With the TFs being both Yoshi... as well as the being TF'd into an egg. Both are fun runs... but the fact that Yoshi's New Island has a porno music soundtrack... kind of has me wanting to turn the music off... as then people will know what I am doing when I play it. They will hear that porno music... and then be confused as to how I am enjoying that Yoshi game so damned much. Nobody must ever know... that is why I constantly talk about it in great length. It is called keeping a secret, maybe you should look it up. xD The SNES one has me able to be all, "I'm just playing a video game--MOM! Also knock next time dammit!" Yoshi Touch and Go--I've not actually played. Neither have I played Wooly World. So I cannot properly talk about any and all fetish material in those games. They are on my too play list--as is this game. Because of course I want to play them. You know--as one does. Yoshi's Story is mostly just a crappy Feeder/Gainer type set up... which is why it is not that well loved. You win the level when you eat a certain amount of fruit--with you having better fruit you can choose to eat... and different paths for food to eat. I mean... it is a good idea for where to go while trying to avoid the whole association with Adult Babies.. but I think the series had its best entries with them in it. But then I'm apparently super weird in that I don't feel an urge to be a total douche bag to Adult Babies... something I tend to deal with Adult Babies confusing with me liking them... which... I really don't understand at all. Yes... it is weird--I'm personally enjoying playing a velicoraptor eating people... I'm not in a position to being pointing figures about being weird. If anything I'm probably weirder (since it is totally a contest) In this case... based on the Fart thing you mentioned... it sounds like that is one of the fetishes that this game is likely to contain. There are likely others that you missed. Since you don't seem to understand the draw of Yoshi.
Fun Fact: The Gameboy Player Startup Disc stops spinning after the Gameboy Player is loaded. So no, tilting the GameCube wouldn't result in the disc getting scratched.
Yeah, I found that out on accident years and years ago. Also, thanks for the little nostalgia trip with that diifii/BigSmileReviews clip at the end. He always had...very amusing videos.
You don’t actually need the boot disc at all times for the GameBoy player. All it needs to do is load into the ram. So when the game starts up, you can just remove the disc and you’ll be fine. Trust me, it works.
Jesus Christ... I never even knew of this game. Brawl (which I grew up with) references many obscure games, like super princess peach or DK king of swing or whatever, but I haven't even heard of this
Since you played this game upside on the gb micro, i wonder if the sensor ball inside the cartride does not get confused?? because i geuss it was designed with the original gba in mind wich had the cartride input on the top,, unless nintendo had think about this and give you the option to tell whather you use a gba 1st model or a gb micro.,mmmm.
Surprised how many people didn’t know about this game. Then again Yoshi was my shit in 2005 so I suppose I had a keener eye for this kind of thing than most.
Tilting the GameCube wouldn't actually scratch the gameboy player boot disk as the drive stops spinning after the system boots the GBA game. I remember playing WarioWare Twisted this way once. I think MyBoy for android supports gyroscopic tilt for this game. I know it does for WW Twisted.
Nice video! Unpopular opinion, but i actually prefer the prerendered look of Story and Topsy turvy better than the island games artsyles. This title has its flaws but i still had a lot of fun, with fast paced levels divided in mini challenges
You should use Game Boy Interface instead of the official boot disc. Better picture and as expensive as a way to load it (if you have Wind Waker or Smash Bros. Melee and know someone with a hacked Wii, it could cost as much as a 59 block memory card). Best of all, you can pop the disc tray open quickly and shut it again to stop the disc from spinning after you launch the player.
Hmm, that's the guide I used. If you have Discord, you could hop into Extrems' server and ask him, since he made the exploit and GBI. Link here discord.gg/QSzK5d
... now to draw pictures of Yoshis farting so as to attract people to my Deviant Art account who are totally into that stuff... I'm more into the whole Vore and TF-Into-an-egg thing... but hey... Yoshi brings something for EVERYBODY.
well you said it was just below 'good'. IGN scored it a 5/10 which under their ratings is considered "Mediocre", so wouldn't your personal rating be something like a 5.5-6.0/10 going on IGN's scale?
Topsy Turvy sounds more in tone with the goofy, cutesy nature of Yoshi games. Universal Gravitation sounds like Yoshi made a science fair project and may be hard to read from a kid’s perspective.
You know that if you bought an SD Media Launcher, and insert an SD card with the GameBoy Interface, you can skip the entire process of the boot disc and have much better video quality due to how terribly the official boot disc handles GBA games
The gameboy player boot disk will stop spinning after the GBA game starts. I think yoshi topsy turvy actually detects the gameboy player and refuses to boot. Wario Ware Twisted on the other hand...
Only die-hard Collectors need that boot disc nowadays, others use the far superior "Game Boy Interface" aka GBI to play. That loads through an Memory card SD reader (with it's own boot disc) or otherwise through a modchip. Otherwise, I want to see a review of the (in my opinion) atrocious Yoshi's Island DS - another travesty by the folks at Artoon. In my opinion the Yoshi's Island series died right after it's first release on the SNES.
I think its port to the GameBoy Advance was quite solid. Also reduced the number of cries-per-second from Mario. I usually prefer it on the GBA to the SNES, so long as it's the SNES-palette hacked patch. I recall looking into the GBI at one point but the whole setup seemed like a bit of a hassle so I passed on it.
@@FrameRater okay I didn't count / think about Super Mario Advance 3. Mario's cries never bothered me that much, and the musical score took a massive hit on GBA. Still played through that one tho and the brand new bonus levels were fun, but really challanging. I 100% all levels, just took very long. The picture quality GBI offers is far superior, reference My Life in Gaming's hour-long video about the Game Boy, there's a segment which explains pretty well how to use GBI and what the benefits of each of the three modes of operation are.
A true Yoshi's Universal Gravitation fan would have tilted the gamecube!
they would have chopped off their hands and welded the stumps to the almighty cube
Its too thick with The GameBoy Player, but you can play it with The handle or, some speed runners tilt the GameCube
universal gravitation is unnecessarily verbose for a kids game...
*"Yoshi's Planetary pull of downward force"*
"Yoshi Land form on Water"
When using the gameboy player you can remove the disc once the game is running, so you could have safely played using the gamecube :^)
Will tilting it with the disc in damage the disc?
You: Yoshi Topsy-Turvy
Me, an intellectual: u n i v e r s a l g r a v i t a t i o n
I'm european and pretty much prefer "topsy turvy". I'm starting to think I didn't buy this when it was out because I couldn't read "universal gravitation" when I was 10 😂
1:52 "The three directions are left, middle, and center."
Wow i actually never heard of this game, it's pretty interesting ,Thank you for bringing this to my attention
The Spirit of Greed a.k.a Winnie the Pooh
My fav thing about most Yoshi games is that there's no timer, and you can back track.
1:15 I HEARD THAT ROLLER MOBSTER, DON'T THINK I WOULDN'T HEAR THAT.
Probably out of all of the stories in any Yoshi game, this actually has the most biggest plot.
Maybe I'm wrong but just to me I see.

It's way different from the box art, I expected to be more similar to Yoshi's island on the DS, forgot the name sorry..
The name of the Yoshi’s Island game on the DS is..Yoshi’s Island DS
Oh, the name of that Yoshi's Island game for the DS? Lemme see here... Aha! It's called, get this: Yoshi's Island DS
The real boss battle of Yoshi's Topsy-Turvy is the tilting mechanic.
Gotta say, I enjoyed the review. I actually have the rom myself on my 3DS. It's...Interesting like you said.
Good Review, I hope to see more!
Well here is a new patch:
NA: www.advanscene.com/html/Releases/dbreleases.php?id=2001
EU: www.advanscene.com/html/Releases/dbreleases.php?id=1947
EDIT: You will need to have a ips patcher
EDIT 2: THX for pin Framerater
For future reference, when you edit a comment, it removes the pin. :P
So I just had to re-pin this. Try not to edit it again! :)
FrameRater ok! I was never pinned before and I didn’t know that
Warioware twisted is a million times better
derpy dave I can also show the Wario Ware Twisted patch as well if you want
great review, I love your reviews of older, more obscure video games.
Would you be able to review a game called Lostmagic? It's a very obscure DS game with an interesting mechanic where you draw symbols on the touch screen to cast spells.
Maybe I'll check it out one day, but from the footage I just looked at it doesn't appear to be my sort of thing.
ah, understandable.
Love this game, finally someone talking about it

I didn’t think a video about ghost farts would be what brought me back to this channel.
Fun Fact: The Gameboy Player Startup Disc stops spinning after the Gameboy Player is loaded. So no, tilting the GameCube wouldn't result in the disc getting scratched.
2:58 I literally thought that was Tap Tap the Golden from the first Yoshi's Island lmaooo
Nice Grover reference there
It measures angle with a ball bearing? It should have an accelerometer and a tuning fork gyro.
Sick Arlo cameo at 2:34
Good thing I can’t sleep tonight, now I can watch this sooner.
I loved the Grover reference
2:31 They made a reference to that sesame street book "A Monster At The End Of This Book"
I completely lost it at 1:14
Glad that I'm not the only one
I loved this game as a kid
Loved this game as a child
The Egglings say "Thank you", actually.
I saw this a few years ago in an old tech store
Can you tilt the GBA upside down to reverse gravity?
Irony is a weapon Perfect profile picture for this.
Nope. It only detects those 3 angles.
This game creeped me out as a kid so much.
What, why?
Ghost fart! Yoshi is brutal
6:32 "Sometimes the better decision is to kill yourself"
GEEZ!
1:19 but the disc stops spinning after you start the game. You can remove it and still play, just like Animal Crossing.
Oh, hmm... didn't think of that.
Yeah, I found that out on accident years and years ago. Also, thanks for the little nostalgia trip with that diifii/BigSmileReviews clip at the end. He always had...very amusing videos.
you realize that you can take out the boot disk after its booted up,right?
also you could use a gba with the link cable
You don’t actually need the boot disc at all times for the GameBoy player. All it needs to do is load into the ram. So when the game starts up, you can just remove the disc and you’ll be fine. Trust me, it works.
How can I play this on an emulator?
Jesus Christ... I never even knew of this game.
Brawl (which I grew up with) references many obscure games, like super princess peach or DK king of swing or whatever, but I haven't even heard of this
This is a great channel
I love channels like this I don’t know how I’ve missed this one for so long. Up there with mark brown!
2:57 I thought that was Tap Tap the Red Nose lmaooo
Since you played this game upside on the gb micro, i wonder if the sensor ball inside the cartride does not get confused?? because i geuss it was designed with the original gba in mind wich had the cartride input on the top,, unless nintendo had think about this and give you the option to tell whather you use a gba 1st model or a gb micro.,mmmm.
I didn't know about this game?
I wonder how this would have been on the 3DS.
I love the name Yoshi Universal Gravation
It's just so stupidly verbose
What kind of a Gameboy are you playing on?
I'm gonna be honest, Universal Gravitation sounds way cooler, I wish we had gotten that name too.
Comment essays are all over the comment sections of reviews
Can you play this on a android emulator?
Nice video! Unpopular opinion, but i actually prefer the prerendered look of Story and Topsy turvy better than the island games artsyles. This title has its flaws but i still had a lot of fun, with fast paced levels divided in mini challenges
I can't believe that the Knuckles videos had more views than these reviews
This is unacceptable
I actually lose about 10 subs every time I post a review. I rarely get any new subscribers from reviews.
FrameRater
Aw, thats a shame dude
I didn't even know this existed.
You should use Game Boy Interface instead of the official boot disc. Better picture and as expensive as a way to load it (if you have Wind Waker or Smash Bros. Best of all, you can pop the disc tray open quickly and shut it again to stop the disc from spinning after you launch the player.
I tried installing this the other day but the memory card save for WW is corrupted and the save icon in the GameCube is just a bunch of letter 'y's.
Where did you get the save file from and how did you install it?
I tried this guy's tutorial and you can find my comment under most recent there:
th-cam.com/video/cdvY1vx5vMo/w-d-xo.html
Hmm, that's the guide I used. If you have Discord, you could hop into Extrems' server and ask him, since he made the exploit and GBI. Link here discord.gg/QSzK5d
Dude, I wonder if you'd consider uploading the ROM patch to ROMHacking.net?
1:15 lol
I used to play this game quite a bit i rather liked it was a different focused platformer.
Does this work on all GBA models?
I've tried it on all of them, so yes.
Fun fact: the Gameboy player disc stops spinning after the software is booted.
1:11-1:16 lol
Fuuck I thought this game was a fever dream. I played it once, don’t really remember when how or where.. Nobody ever talks about this game...
9:45 Here lies the file.
... now to draw pictures of Yoshis farting so as to attract people to my Deviant Art account who are totally into that stuff...
I'm more into the whole Vore and TF-Into-an-egg thing... but hey... Yoshi brings something for EVERYBODY.
At least the lump in the cartridge isn’t as bad as the cartridge for Warioware: Twisted.
No. Kidding.
I have never heard of this game
This is a very interesting game
you need more subs you make good content
"it's a mediocre game" "IGN's 5.0 score was bad tho"
I consider mediocre a 6.5 - 7 out of 10.
Wait when did I even say the game was mediocre?
well you said it was just below 'good'. IGN scored it a 5/10 which under their ratings is considered "Mediocre", so wouldn't your personal rating be something like a 5.5-6.0/10 going on IGN's scale?
I'm not going under IGN's scale though, I'm going under my own. I don't think in any case that the game is a 5/10.
I... actually never heard of this game
I forgot about this game
Damn, those Europe people got the best name for this game
Topsy Turvy sounds more in tone with the goofy, cutesy nature of Yoshi games. Universal Gravitation sounds like Yoshi made a science fair project and may be hard to read from a kid’s perspective.
0:22 I guess topsy-turvy appeals to more American children?
You know that if you bought an SD Media Launcher, and insert an SD card with the GameBoy Interface, you can skip the entire process of the boot disc and have much better video quality due to how terribly the official boot disc handles GBA games
The gameboy player boot disk will stop spinning after the GBA game starts. I think yoshi topsy turvy actually detects the gameboy player and refuses to boot. Wario Ware Twisted on the other hand...
I tested this a few days ago, it actually runs the game just fine, of course you'll have to spin your GameCube which is well, inconvenient.
I mostly use an iOS device and the app gba4ios to play gba games
However this doesn't work on there and only wario ware twisted works
Can u do mother 3
I don't own it, and due to its price I don't think I ever will.
FrameRater I have an English rom u can have
green cartridge........
it looks horrible like hhhh
Only die-hard Collectors need that boot disc nowadays, others use the far superior "Game Boy Interface" aka GBI to play. That loads through an Memory card SD reader (with it's own boot disc) or otherwise through a modchip.

Hello my bruddah I’m first and really who cares
Inb4 people say first
Unfortunately this will always be known as the failed American developed Nintendo IP game which is a shame considering it isn't bad at all. 🤔
this game is so ugly :(
