Yeah, Cubivores really is a weird game, even on a meta level. Despite being a Nintendo franchise and being featured as a Trophy in Melee, the game was published by Atlus here in North America. And for some reason this prevented Doshin the Giant from getting an NA release...
"Custom robo has you fight giant robots" ..The robos are a foot tall in most cases. See that cube your character picks up in the beginning? The one about the sizs of his head? It's inside THAT. But yeah, Custom Robo is a really good multiplayer arena battler. That's the best way I could describe it myself. And you didn't mention the unique and really awesome soundtrack!
I remember there being plans for a video game based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series "Chalk Zone" to be released on the Gamecube, but it ended up being cancelled for whatever reason.
I've noticed people talk about how TWoC has a higher emphasis on driving or other types of stages that are not platformers, yet Crash Warped did the same. There are 16 platforming stages (if you do not count the 6th warp room) in TWoC, while Warped has 14 platforming stages, so it's kind of weird to see this as an issue when the previous one was the same. Now, execution wise, that's another story, and that's more understandable.
The one good thing I can say about the Catwoman game is it actually looked pretty good for its time, the character models (especially on Catwoman herself, managing to be a nice recreation of Halle Berry in video game form) and lighting in particular are really nice looking for the time in which it came out.
Thought I'd mention that COD Finest Hour and Big Red One are actually completely different from their PC and 7th gen iterations. They were built from the ground up for the less powerful 6th gen consoles. Cod: Finest hour attempts to emulate some of the environments and situations from COD 1. But big Red One completely does its own thing.
If you haven't been already you should document any glitches you run into on the Dolphin wiki. You may end up helping them catch glitches and regressions.
Cubivore is actually one of the rarest games for GameCube. A complete inbox copy will often go for over $500! I’m not kidding! It’s a super rare game and costs for than Fire Emblem Path of Radiance which is only like $250.
I only know of Cubivore from looking up that mysterious Alpha trophy in Smash Melee. If you want a similar, better game about eating enemies to grow bigger, I'd suggest The Munchables on Wii. It's not great, but it's much more fast paced, has some decent platforming and boss fights, and a story about evil food monsters from space instead of the whole wilderness sim thing. Also same director as Katamari Damacy, which has a similar "consume and grow" deal when you think about it.
Really nice reviews, I've been going through and starting to collect for the nintendo gamecube so far, its been fun. But if I can ask a question, that cocoto fun fair game. Does there exist an actual game cube light gun for it. I cant find it anywhere
No, nothing points in the direction of there being a GameCube light gun peripheral. For all we know the system might not even be capable of such a thing.
@@FrameRater then thank you, for second there i was going crazy looking for it lol. Still just tells me they ported a light gun game and had you use a controller. Terrible idea
Not sure if now is a good time to start collecting for the GC unless you can find really good deals. Most of the first party titles are getting really high in value now. Unless money is of no problem for you.
Cocoto Platformer: I have a bigger pressing question. Why is this guy shooting out TURD RAINBOWS that have identical physics to the Rainbow Islands rainbows?!
9:18 Fun (?) fact: The oompahs in the original book were in fact pygmies from Africa. The author later changed it after being criticized and realizing the depiction was racist, even though that wasn't his intent.
As I said in the video, follows a familiar formula but not the same. It's a WW2 shooter, it follows the mechanics, but the game's events and story are different.
I’m gunna guess Cubivore is abstract, all you have to do is look at the Atlus logo and it will all make sense (if you know what Atlus has made before then you’ll understand)
Hell yeah, hype this video finally came out. I am *not* leaving a comment to please our robot overlords, not at all. Conan did what Conan could. Because horse.
Really weird that Conan looks like Silvester Stallone more than Arnie, can you imagine a Conan movie but instead of THE BRAWLY MAN NAHHHHINNNGG!!! you have I AM THE LAWN!!! instead? That Carmen Sandiego game really caught me off guard, didnt knew there was a 3D platformer about the series, always thought they were more like edutainment games more than flat out well....entretainmnent XDD, seems generic and quite repetitive but i could had loved to play this if was back when i was a little lad. Also Custom Robo for GC if im not mistaken is a remake of the N64 Custom Robo, it also came out for GBA at the same time the GC one came out, the N64 game is pretty damn solid but the GC version does adds more flare and its a tad bit more refined than the N64 one, the GBA is also a solid choice but its not as cool as the GC one imo, i tend to think this game is a mix of the Yu Gi Oh RPG games for the RPG overworld parts, Virtual On but in a Isometric bird's eye view and Armored Core because that game allows you to customize your mech like here with Custom Robo, its a very fun game to play with friends and see who has the wackiest more cool mech of them all, is a shame that Nintendo doesnt revive this franchise again this could be so insanely fun with a Switch remaster and online multiplayer gameplay, i think this franchise could really shine the most nowdays but oh well it wasn't meant to be it seems.
In my opinion, cod finest hour should have gotten a yes instead of a ? Sure its the first console game meaning there are some things that are wrong, but I like it.

Framerater? Def jam?!?! You have to talk about the terrible game cube port of deff jam fight for new york. The game cube port is the worst because it took out several songs, can't change your character's voice and ugly compared to ps2 and xbox ports and the battle arenas are smaller too in the game cube port. I hope you do mention these in the video.
I assume since TT was a largely Christian company, they wanted to do something for Chronicles of Narnia by passion... since the whole story is basically Christian allegory.
With the whole Oompa-Loompa thing, that feels like a result of Dahl being pretty racist and how that was baked into his writing. A part of me wants to be shocked that the Oompa-Loompas in the game ended up being a lot closer to Dahl's original (racist) vision but the game likely was made in North America and it seems only recently that more people have taken noticed to racist depictions of people, so I'm not shocked. Regardless, it's a horrible look for the game, more people should have been there to say, "This is bad, please change this".
@Grima the Fell Dragon It's cool to like media with problematic elements, what's important is being able to point those elements out. In the case of racism in children's media though, it's more the fact that racist ideas are deep into North American culture. I can totally see a developer making the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory game and literally see nothing wrong with how the Oompa-Loompas were modeled, especially if it's staffed by people who have little knowledge of Dahl's racism, or the history and legacy of slavery. Like I said, it's only been recently folks outside of marginalized communities have been talking about bigotry in large numbers. The fact that most people "never really looked into it so far" is because for a lot of people, those bigoted portrayals of groups of people is baked deep into culture and language.
@Grima the Fell Dragon Oh, thanks for clearing that up, I'm biracial myself (black and white) and race is so weird to talk about (especially online) because you don't know when someone is going to get defensive because they think you're accusing them of being racist even when you're talking about systematic racism. I agree that a foreword is the best way to approach legacy media barring maybe a short documentary companion piece that breaks down a lot of bigoted subtext. Admittedly, it would have been really cool if Disney went that extra mile for Dumbo, just as an example. But that's part of me who really enjoyed the movie as a kid but looking back at the more problematic elements and being saddened by it. Like you had this awesome clusterfuck of a song with Pink Elephants and then you followed that with Jim Crow.

Like, they're pretty much anywhere from 6 to 10 *INCHES* tall.
Not a bad video but I find that you are incredibly generous with some of these games lol!
16:31 giant snake birthday cake large fries chocolate shake
Dire stakes, obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice... yeah that works much better with your lines.
