    I was in a 2014 Nissan Rogue driving for Uber. Yes it was icy but at the same time know your limits. I was out for 3 hours didn't see one plow. Got my riders where the wanted to go and me and my car gratefully made it home safe.

    The roads were warm, the temps dropped fast and it dumped lots of snow quickly. Everything turned to ice. I left work early to beat the worst of it.
    South Springs was fine, everything north of Interquest was a mess. I don't blame the plows, they didn't have a chance it was too quick. Please
    get some winter tires ya'll. And drive like you want to arrive somewhere alive, not fast.

    I see a lot of comments about snow tires and I get it, they are helpful in snow. But this is our second snow storm of the season. It makes no sense to put snow tires on your car when we get a night of snow in a month and the rest of the time the roads are bone dry. Regular asphalt tears up snow tires quickly.

Ideally though, if you can't drive in these situations, you shouldn't be out driving. • @Yamabrah_YZF
      @Yamabrah_YZF 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is true. We barley ever get snow here though. So I see why it’s not a priority. Up north by monument however? They get snow. South by salida? Definitely get snow! The issue is with the springs is it’s in an area where predicting the weather is extremely difficult. It’s a mile high, yet rests in a hole, and has the Great Plains to the East with mountains to the West. I am no meteorologist but I know that the weather here can change in an instant, to the point where even the Doppler radar has to be updated constantly to get an accurate result. Too many factors. Plus a lot of our plows are used for other reasons by the city, like for materials transport or for construction. Plus, with thousands of people moving here from states that never get snow, we have a lot of drivers who treat it like driving in the rain which is very unsafe. I remember driving home from work in a massive snow storm, going a safe speed and seeing people doing at least 5 over the speedlimit by fort Carson! Even if there was proper snow control, people who have never lived in a winter weather state have no idea how to drive in these conditions. I have AWD, and the best thing I’ve ever learned is to turn off traction control and lock the rear diff if you can in deep snow. Anyways, I wish we were known for snow! We’re known for the other type of ice, you know, the baseball sized insurance claims that fall from the sky :/.

    Why live in a state like that and not carry snow chains 3 months out the year. They are cheaper than snow tires.
    I found a brand new set in Goodwill.
    I have 4x4 but even that won’t be enough on ice.
    Plus 4x4 doesn’t help you stop.

Stop being stupid and learn how to drive in the snow!! Of course back then people wouldn't care that you were playing around in a snowpacked parking lot. It's just not playing, it's learning!!

      People think AWD and 4WD equates to 4WStop. It doesn't. Not on ice. Going home on the 14th to WPk from the Springs, people were flying past me up the pass. About 10-15 minutes later, I came upon flashing lights and 1 vehicle perpendicular to the lane and another flipped over and down in the Midian between west and east bound lanes. Driving by the accident (and way before) I could feel traction being poor at best, in spots. It's all these poor drivers that scare me as they end up pulling you into their accident.

    This is embarrassing. I drove around that night in the same area in a rwd drive truck with open country A/T 3's and had no issue's hadn't slid once and it was arguably worse. In my opinion, This is a mix of lack of confidence in one's ability and ones vehicle. Being overly cautious is almost as dangerous as being completely carefree and reckless. Drive normal but be aware and ready to correct.
