    ALWAYS great vibes in the snow like this. I remember this night. My crazy brothers and I wanted pizza, vapes, and to go to Walmart. absolutely brutal and unforgiving roads. you truly have to lock in. one wrong twitch and the car is sliding down the road. The neighborhood roads become a free-for-all when the weather is like this. But the memories are surreal and beautiful. stranded at the park in freezing weather like this, the sky glows from the snow.

      i LOVE the way the sky glows from a fresh layer of snow, used to sit in a hot tub at 2am and it was still bright out, absolutely beautiful weather.

    🤔 Interesting tactic of hitting the accelerator to the floor for the best odds of gaining traction 🤔 I wonder why that didn't work, no matter how many times they tried 🤔 Maybe... Just maybe, mind you, they should have tried something else entirely 🤔 Someone must not have learned the story about the tortoise and the hare and learned that slow and steady wins the race 🤷‍♀️. Of course, crappy tires are going to give you crappy results, no matter how good a driver you are.. and ice is friendly to no one, so I suppose I'll curb my criticism a little since I don't know the true full conditions those drivers were dealing with. 🤷‍♀️🤔

    You would be surprised at the percentage of people who don't know anything about winter tires ! It is around 30% of the driving public who think that all-season tires are just fine for winter and that winter tires don't really help all that much. So no wonder so many people get stuck in winter. Quebec has a law = get caught without winter tires in winter and you get a $500 ticket from the police.

    • @billdang3953
      @billdang3953 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree 1,000 percent, I would ad that there is no shortage of people who think that bald all season tires are OK for winter traction. Go and have a peek at the various vehicles in any random parking lot, you'll see worn front tires and rear tires with lots of trad left, a sign of somebody who doesn't know basic vehicle maintenance and likely doesn't want to know.

      ...with Winter tires. They're not just for snow, but for low-temps, even if the pavement is dry. In Colorado Springs snow is only "temporary" as the streets are clear the next 203 days for sure. it's not like up in the mountains where you're snowed-in for the season.
      Most of the time though a FWD vehicle should do just fine, even in snow if you know how to drive in it. While some people in CO cities DO put Winter tires on each season, most do not.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Watch the video again and see the snowplow trucks...pay attention next time. CO is almost without exception on top of "snow events" and even starts early getting trucks out on the roads. They have a "triage" system in place re: what roads are plowed first and which ones are addressed later -- and so on down the list.
      IIRC, the Interstates (I-25 in this case of Colorado Springs, and I-25 & I-70 in the Denver area) are plowed by CDOT snowplows (orange trucks) whereas the Colorado Springs city trucks are white (as seen in this video). Yellow snowplows are County...so ALL THREE are often out there together.
      Contrary to ignorant but apparently popular belief here, the major cities of CO DO know how to deal with snow...but they cant; do anythign about people who don;t know how to DRIVE in it. Even TV News/Weather reporting an incoming snowstorm will tell people to STAY HOME if they don't have to go out...but many go out regardless. And some get stuck. Amazing.

      Lots of people on CO forget how to drive and have to "remember" it after the first snow. It's kind of like all those people living in disaster (like hurricane) areas, who SHOULD know better but still don't keep food, water, etc, stockpiled AT ALL times. So when a storm is coming to knock out power & water (and gas stations, supermarkets, etc.) they wait until the last minute, but by then it's likely shelves are bare or stores are already closed for the storm. And those "natives" respond the same for every storm. They never learn. Incredible.
