Extremely heavy snowfall rates impacted portions of Colorado and Kansas on Tuesday. Interstate 70 was closed from Limon, Colorado to Colby, Kansas for a large portion of the day. Snow totals exceeded two feet in some locations! This video package was shot in Burlington, Colorado, where 20" of snow was reported and caused major problems for those trying to travel through the region.

4-6) Shots of semi trucks at a standstill on interstate 70 waiting to exit the interstate at Burlington.
7-8) Me walking in nearly knee deep snow along the shoulder of I70 to show the depth of accumulation while traffic was at a standstill.
9) Traffic at a standstill along I-70.
10) A man shoveling snow in front of a business in Burlington.
11) Burlington city limit sign.
12) Massive snow accumulations on a vehicle in a hotel parking lot.
13) A semi truck driver stuck and spinning his tires as he attempts to navigate the city streets of Burlington.
14) A woman clearing heavy snow accumulations from her vehicle.
15) A younger woman helping an older woman through the parking lot of a convenience store so she wouldn't slip and fall. The parking lot had already been plowed, but was still slick from the snow pack.
16) A snow plow clearing the eastbound lane of I-70 while it was still closed. A motorist follows, who most likely drove around gates/barricades at some point after the interstate was closed.
17) A vehicle stuck in snow as two men try to push the driver out.
18-19) A driver stuck in the ditch in front of a convenience store. The snow accumulation was so much that it was difficult to discern the entrance/exit and I assume this is how the driver ended up in the ditch.
20) People walking on foot through Burlington.
21) Vehicles buried in snow along a residential street in town.
22) A sedan at a car dealership buried in snow. This shot really shows the extent of the snow accumulation in town. The sedan can barley be seen!
23) Snow falling against trees that have heavy snow accumulation on branches.
Bless all truck drivers! What they do to keep our country running, is very underrated. Stay safe!
Massive storm yes. Poor truckers. We really need to appreciate all the workers out there trying to get food and other supplies to the people during all the weather chaos and other distressing things going on. Thanks to all of you. 💙💖💕

Thanks Dee. My husband and I were stuck in that heading to drop a 60k pound emergency generator. They closed down i70 200 miles from our drop because of a massive pile up further down. When we finally got moving we saw many trucks jackknifed in the median. Needless to say we dropped down to Texas first chance we got. People have no idea of the sacrifice truckers make.

I’m here because I live 38 miles south of Burlington and we needed this moisture and people need to listen to forecast We knew it was coming and stayed home and baked to warm up the house

We live in Colorado and last Spring got a 4 foot snow. When I opened the basement door the snow was above the level of the door knob and I couldn't get out.

Snow is great when you can sit inside a warm cozy house and look at it or go have fun in it. If you have to tyr to do anything else, it sucks!
When we think of snow storms in Colorado, we think of the mountains; however, it's often the plains that get nailed in blizzards.

As a retired truck driver I have been caught in blizzards like that before. I'd learn to watch the forecast and Hunker down in a safe place before I would be caught stuck on the highway.

wow, hope it doesn't last long and that food supplies are ok and helping each other out, I heard in the news that some truckers are also making the run to Ottawa for the " Freedom Run" instead, you could make every trucker counted for and do a wellness check.

I 70 through Colorado gets a lot of snow. I have had to chain up a semi on the west side of the Eisenhower Tunnel. It was raining on the east side of the tunnel.
I was in this with my codriver. We parked at the rest area in burlington

I was stuck at the pickle park in Burlington in 2001 because of a blizzard. The prison near by brought over sack lunches for everybody stranded. Bless them!
I've seen blizzards in New Jersey but this is ridiculous.
At least it's nice, dry Colorado snow instead of the Cascades Concrete that we get over here in the PNW. That guy shoveling in the first minute looked like he was shoveling smoke instead of snow. He won't have a heart attack clearing that weightless stuff off his sidewalk.

We live in Colorado. To be "massive" you have to get at least three feet. This snow looks moderate to me.

I like how the driver in shot 16 not only went around barricades to tailgate the plow, but they're doing so without their headlights on. I wonder how much extra effort it takes to be that dim.
It always amazes me when people pass a snow plow!! Last week (I forget where) the police had to ticket and stop several cars that got in the middle of a plow train! really!?!!
They close the gates in Colorado because the state is to cheap to run a effected snow removal program!!. Sorry those trucker got stuck out there. Its B.S
