This show is more honest than WD in the sense that on that show they mostly showed the takes where it all goes right, whereas here they show the complications, the fidgeting, the try try again. Which is very appreciated.
Actually seeing the true difficulties, travails, problems, mistakes, faffing and/or stubbornness (delete as applicable!) that's truly involved in working on restoring/repairing/modifying a car, is what makes this the best channel around. It actually makes me feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one who goes through these issues, that THIS is the reality of proper 'spannering', and not to feel so disheartened watching other shows, where EVERYTHING just seems to slide, move or unbolt so smoothly!
Much better than the "new" Wheeler Dealers. Ed is honest. No phony talk. No cute skits. WD has turned into a situation comedy and soap opera. Keep it real Ed, that's what we want.
Appreciate the camera work there - allowing us to keep an eye on the pressure gauge whilst the chaps were trying to press out the bush. Really helps to make the viewer feel involved, great direction.
Hi Ed, love your show, fantastic watching you actually carry out all the work rather than starting and then jump cutting to the finished result. Brilliant. Your personality and presentation are first class. I am writing this while enjoying a lovely mug of tea in my new Ed china mug I bought. Thanks again, look forward to each Friday's episode.
Another great start to the weekend and it's comforting to know that even the experts sometimes have a problem with replacing bushes; I've done them all on a 23 year old Mercedes SL and every single one put up a fight and a reciprocating saw is a godsend.
As a teacher I really like the way you explain and show your progress. Even for a non mechanic like me it makes sense and is easy to follow and understand the progress. I have learned a lot about engines by watching your videos. Good job!
@@briangoldberg4439 The worst thing is they only did one side. Next week they're doing the same thing to the rear left suspension. To be fair that is the reality of working on old cars, especially in a colder climate like the UK.
I'm watching the full series of WD, again, and I can see that Edd has already checked out in his mind after the change to Discovery. They've added flash-forward segments to add to the flash-backs. Edd's total time working on the car is likely 12 minutes in the entire show. What a waste of talent and actual worthwhile television. I'm glad you're here now Edd, where we can sit with our eyes glued to the screen while you take out a single bush. Keep up the great work!
Manual says, 'undo bolts and remove brake caliper'. Murphy's law says, 'Hope bolts come undone and spend ages trying to remover the brake caliper'. Love the reality of this show.
Love this show already and only a few episodes in. The way that there’s more than 2 or 3 things wrong with the car and the detail that goes in to repairing/replacing. I watch WD thinking “yeah I could totally buy a substandard car and do it up and sell it on”. The new show with Edd actually opened my eyes seeing that it’s not actually like that. For instance this mini, replacing the bushes with the press…. Washing the inside of the RR fuel tank and replacing the fuel lines…. Then making the magic switch to test the pump then working out that the plug cables needed switching… love it
I can’t tell you how much I dread Edd saying the words “And that’s a job for another day.” NOOOooo, don’t stop now! I just love seeing the processes. The hits and the misses. Not just seeing the end result where it all looks like magic.
Great stuff... loved it. Glad you wore those protection glasses, especially using the stanley knife. My brother lost an eye 2 days after the tip splintered off into his eye cutting formica. Love the gold '66 mustang, not sure that was an original colour though, but looks fantastic. I had 2 in the early 70's, a '66 6cyl.4 speed manual convertible in mid blue metalic and a '66 289 gt coupe, 3 speed manual in silver....... 2 totaly different cars, just adored them.👍🇬🇧
Just went through all this installing urethane bushings in my ‘06 Acura RSX (Honda Integra), all around. Used a hole saw to remove the centers, then the Sawzall on the bushing sleeve. What a job.
Cheers for the advice on my Austin Gipsy Edd. Has been an awesome little project to take on as there is only a handful of these in NZ and can't wait to restore it back to its former glory and back on the road
Love how involved these videos are at every step! And no other music or anything to disturb the video! Although I'm sure people would love a 'peaceful' type video with gentle music in the background of you working paired with the mechanic sounds etc. Look up 'Dream Build MTB' videos by Gee Milner, you'll get the idea! Keep it up mate!

Yes the shop press is essential, remember the many hours of pounding and vice tricks I’ve used to accomplish these type of things when I was young and ambitious and tool poor!
I know this is old, but maybe I'll get a response. That art on the wall over your shoulders includes what I assume is a poster or print that is reminiscent of my 68 Mustang I passed on to the next generation. I like it. Maybe if Edd pops in, he could glance for a label, or maybe somebody else recognizes it. I know I could do an image search, but expect I'd have to expect millions.
Hi CJ, We have been busy making a whole load more of those pictures and they we soon be adorning the walls and be available to purchase as pictures, T-shirts and maybe even mugs… we’ll let you know when we’re ready.
Hey Edd, It looks like you slightly crushed that bearing housing. Does that matter? Is that going to effect the toe? or will you be able to adjust it out in the end?
I did this job a while ago and went through pretty much everything they did in the video, I even got the press arm stuck in the carrier and used some old brake pads to stop it caving in. Mine got a bit more bent than theirs in the video and I could adjust my rear toe to factory spec which is good enough for now.
I have worked a lot on heavy construction equipment with pins and bushings. If we didn’t have the right size hydraulic pressing tools we used to MIG-weld the bushings inside. When the bushing cools down it shrinks and it’s easy to knock it out. The same method works on motorcycles and cars.
Big fan Edd. FYI, re the rear lower coilover thread that's been helicoiled: that happens because the steel bolt is a tri-lobe "self-tapping" bolt, which cuts the thread into aluminium, so they are technically single use only. So replacing the trailing arm is not the end of the story. Get yourself a keensert, put it in the new trailing arm, and then it makes it serviceable. Otherwise every time you remove the lower bolt, you're making the aluminium thread weaker
Eddie, have a look at the anti-roll bar rubbers and noticeably where they are mounted.... too close to the bend. If you slot the bracket that holds the rubber bushes you can move them away from the bend. BMW fixed this on the GP. You could also upgrade the anti-roll bar to a thicker one at the same time, if you feel so inclined 😉👍
Great edd. Quality in front of the camera and I can see how you like to be quite detailed about things. Prefer that to heavy editing and brushing over certain mechanical issues. 👍👍 (Mike's been busy to you know 🤔
It does baffle me how much Edd still uses hand tools where he could use power tools to make life easier. Undoing those calliper carrier bolts was crying out for a battery ratchet 😂

Enjoying the new series 👍good platform for a rally car. At least the suspension at the back doesn't have a beam like others. Although these minis handle well do you not think there is a large amount of bump steer in stock form, there is probably a kit somewhere. If it was my car I would fit bump steer kit, bigger rear arb and fit k20 engine 😁
Edd won't thank me for this, but I recall one of his biggest fails, it was the Capri, he tried to paint a replacement panel in hot humid weather, looked like crap, in the end they made something like a 100 pound profit on a car they spent days and days working on, lol! The camper van project was probably a close second. All in all Wheeler Dealer was a very entertaining show, and I realize the primary aim was to show viewers how to work on cars and a profit was a bonus. Be great if you and Mike could hook up again for a few one off shows, you guys had great chemistry. Keep up the good work big man, love your videos!
Hello Edd! Thank you for this series; once again getting my 'fix' (pun).
